“Security guard ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Taylor197 on 07/01/2024

Today security felt he could just touch my bags without talk and telling me what his issue is. Don't touch someones property with out asking. I guess in Streatham if you look a certain way then you won't be bothered... Won't be going back to this store. Very offended and no apology was given. Over crowded store and busy doesn't give you the right to target people!!

“Horrible staff member”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lisawagner on 01/01/2023

Absolutely shocking experience in Watford Lidl. I have never been spoken to with such disrespect by a member of staff. I had finished my shopping at the self checkout and proceeded to exit the shop with my basket. As I walked out of the shop the security sensors went off. I stopped and turned around but no one from the shop floor seemed to have noticed. I then walked towards the escalators and the guy working on the self checkout shouted "oi" to me from across the shop. He then proceeded to shout at me, saying that I cannot take the basket out to the car park. I told him that there was absolutely no need to raise his voice across the shop floor and that he could have just come over and said it to me quietly. He continued to argue with me and shout saying that he "doesn't care" that he's being loud and argumentative. He was aggressive and threatening. All of this over a basket. The behaviour was totally unacceptable and completely unprofessional when working in customer service. I raised the issue with the manager, and I asked for an apology. He went to go and get the member of staff that was rude, but said person refused to come down and speak to me. The manager then said "if he comes down and speaks to you, he's going to cause a scene and explode". To me this says it all. If you are unable to go and speak to a customer that is upset by the way you spoke to them, you should be sacked for incompetency. How is a manager ok with having someone on his team that he knows is a loose cannon and curt. He is clearly a liability. Absolutely shocking behaviour. I would have been more than happy to let it go had I received an apology but his refusal to speak to me means that I will be taking this further. 01/01/2023

“Can’t believe people shop here”

★★☆☆☆

written by Rigoberto117 on 23/08/2019

My wife and I went to the anew Lidl’s that just opened in College Park Md. In large, everything is prepackaged. No fresh selection of vegetables nor meats. In fact, not a very good selection at all. I did find one item that I regularly buy that was very well priced, but the store is so generic. Coming out I heard one customer complaining “they didn’t even have Cheetos “! I just don’t see any allure.

“Wait for checkout far far to long”

★☆☆☆☆

written by QuintonPerry on 08/02/2018

Every single time I have been into get a few bits only 1 or2 tills open, always long queues with people with full shopping trollys, Keep seeing people put down there baskets and walk out, in summer popped into get ice cream and its melted by time you get to checkout, its stupid, they actually wait till they have a few people complaining before they open another till and then the people behind you rush to them, Everyone local to our one I know now has stopped using the store, Its only 10 metres away from us but now go elsewhere where you don't wait 30 mins plus to checkout. at least 6 tills in Virginia street branch and never more than 2 open even when very busy.

“returning an item and 5$ off 30$ coupon.”

★★★☆☆

written by McCallumnc377 on 03/02/2018

Overall a good store. Everything is cheap, quality is fine often great, good enough choice. I was so excited to find it. However, was very disappointed, when tried to get a price difference on an item that scanned at a wrong price. I bought 37$ worth of groceries. I used a 5$ off 30$ store coupon. I bought 2 packs of breakfast sausages. they were on sale for 1.99$ but scanned wrong at a full price 2.49$ btw, it happens to me often at Lidl. so I paid 5$ instead of 4$. I paid 1$ more. If everything was scanned correctly I would never pay that dollar. My total bill would be not 37$ , but 36$ I would still use my 5$ off 30$ coupon. There system made a mistake, so they charged me 1$ more then should. It happens often at other stores too. But I NEVER had any problem to get the price difference or return an item for a full refund. However, at Lidl it was not easy to get that 1$ difference back!!!!! They insisted that I can get only 26 cents back. When I tried to return the sausages, they could only give me 4.25$ back, not the 5$ I paid!!!! they said, because I used the 5$ off 30$ coupon, I already got a discount on the item. I had no luck trying to explain, that my total bill would be a dollar less if there system did not make a price mistake. 5$ off coupon is supposed to be a discount, not a coverage of their mistake. It is not about 1$, it is about absurd, where a costumer has to be responsible for the store mistake!!!! I can not recommend this store to a friend, it is not OK when a customer can not guarantee to get the price difference or return an item that they just bought, for a full refund.

“Poor Customer Relations”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 123dhills on 13/11/2017

On the 12th October 2017 when I did my shopping at Lidl I bought a cheese and onion multi pack. When I got home and opened the bag some of the bags of the crisps had not been sealed properly and I had a whole load of loose crisps at the bottom of the host bag.I contacted Lidl immediately and they told me to gather a list of information (dates, barcode etc)After jumping through their hoops I waited, I contacted them to see if they had received my information,I was told that I would get a letter. On the 1st November 2017, I received a letter that told me to take the letter to the manager of the store and they will give me 75p, what an insult!I wrote to the CEO of Lidl expressing my dissatisfaction but he couldn't be bothered to write back, so he got one of his staff to tell me I should be grateful for what I got.Does this company care about its loyal customers or its continuous expansion?

“UNREASONABLE AND DISAPOINTING BEHAVIOR FROM STORE WORKER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ROMPAV2104 on 07/11/2017

Once I went to the self check out and I was due to pay £17.51.I put in £17.01 as I was 50 pence short my decision was to put in £20 in note so I would have £19.50 change. The machine did not except the money so I called a store assistant t help me. They did something on it and all the machine gave out ONLY £2.01(Note; Before this I put in £17.01 NOT £2.01)They took the money and moved me to another cashier and in the end giving me £4.50 of change. Once I explained the hole situation to the store manager and around 5 other store assistants and all they said to me was that they cannot do anything now so they would call next morning and give me back my £15 that got lost in the process. For the next 4 days nobody called me to deal with the issue. The next day I came there,i found the store manager once again to ask where is my money, she told me that they counted the money and there was no spare. So then when I asked her for her name she refused t give it to me took me to another manager. She told him about the situation and then just ran away behind a cash machine and was watching what was going on., and he told me TOO that there was no spare money. So once more I asked him for his name and he refused to give it to me, took of his ID card, hid it in his pocket and ran away too to where she was standing.SO IN THE END I NEEDED UP FAIRLY DISAPOINTED AS LILD IN SOME WAY TOOK MY MONEY AND WERE VERY RUDE BY JUST RUNNING OF TO SOMEWHERE AND NOT PROPELY EXLAINING TO ME WHAT HAPPEN.THIS IS EXTRIMELY UNREASONABLE OF THEM!!!!!!!

“Appalling guards and customer service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Caveydavey on 12/10/2017

A number of good products but also a number that fall well below the standard of the larger super markets. Add to that the poorly trained and deeply offensive security guards that follow people around the store, staring and insinuating legitimate shoppers are shop lifters, the awful customer service that simply rejects any criticism out of hand, and you may want to consider another shop.

“Avoid Smoked Ham & Onion Tarts - Watch the Check-out ”

★★☆☆☆

written by MikeAW on 10/10/2017

Hmmm... I'm a fan of many Lidl foods but avoid the Smoked Ham & Onion Tarts. Under the crusty top coating they just seem like lots of soggy pastry and no sauce, hardly any ham to be found. I don't like their arrangement for check-out of goods. In their rush to get you through the check-out they often pile goods they've scanned on the scanner as there is no room for you to pack bags (I wonder if goods stacked on the scanner keep registering) and there have been occasions when the same item has been charged more than once.

“Bigger not better”

★★☆☆☆

written by 24Chaney on 23/04/2017

Since lidl expanded at grangetown in Sunderland the service and quality of food has not been good fruit bought went bad over two days shelves are not kept stocked as well as before and staff are indifferent when asked a question especially the younger staff. Saturday last the entry door stuck - eventually we were told to use the exit door and walk to the other end of the store to get in as the barriers were in place on the till aisles.

“Good dairy place”

★★★☆☆

written by PabloGutierrezHernandez on 19/04/2017

In Spain, this supermarket is a good supermarket when you want buy yogurt, ice cream, bread, but I don´t like the fish, meat, and it doesn´t have staff cutting ham, cheese,... I love their yogurt. This supermarket is very bigger and your attention is well. Every week this supermarket in their website to post a lot of offers. I bought a milk carton, but I break the carton but I drink a cup of milk, the milk was sour milk. The articles price its very cheap, you don´t have much money, you can buy a lot of articles.

“Poor distribution network”

★★☆☆☆

written by lxReynolds129 on 15/04/2017

I've been quite loyal to Lidl over the past couple of years, but I think the time has come for a change. Some of the products are really good, for example the houmous, which in my opinion is much better quality than that sold at the major supermarkets. However, what lets Lidl down time and time again is the availability of regular stock items due to non-delivery. I know that Lidl don't stock the same range as the larger supermarkets, but I'm talking about items that they do stock. A couple of weeks ago it was eggs - the shelves were bare. Last week it was yogurt and cottage cheese, and today it was leeks. When you ask the staff, they say "sorry, we ordered it, but it wasn't delivered". So of course I then have to drive to Morrisons or Tesco, and lose in time and petrol what I would have saved at Lidl. A few weeks ago it was tins of kidney beans - these must have a shelf life of 2 years, but the probelm doesn't seem to be lack of stock, it's the failure of the distribution centre to load the trucks properly. Another thing I've noticed that appears to be connected to this is the freshness of perishables. Recently, they had satsumas on the shelves that were covered in white mould, and mixed peppers that were soft and rotting. Today, the brussels sprouts were yellow and the broccoli was going the same way. You see the TV adverts about fresh produce, but what I think happens is that the produce sits in a Lidl warehouse somewhere for a week or more after being delivered fresh from the producer. I sent some comments to Lidl a year or more ago with some feedback, and all I got was a copied and pasted 'standard reply' not addressing the issues I'd raised, so I'm not going to bother this time - I'm just going to vote with my feet (and wallet).

“bread on the floor ”

★★★☆☆

written by 225Dempsey on 25/02/2017

Today I went to do some shopping. When I was picking my bread I saw a baguette on the floor. A man picked it up and handed it to a member of staff. When he had gone round the corner the woman put it back onto the shelf with all the other breads. This was not good at all and makes people loose trust in buying the bread from that shop. This does not put my faith in the shop and I would think twice about buying bread from their again.

“Parking costs”

★★★☆☆

written by nolin on 29/01/2017

I was unfortunate to park at LIDL Francis Street Luton for 1 hour and 40 minutes and was fined £90 because only 90 minutes is allowed. This is a new development at this site and should have been advertised in large letters at the entrance to the store. I heard from another customer that similar schemes operate at other LIDL stores so I want everyone to be vigilant when parking at Lidl because with the fine shopping at Lidl is the most expensive in the UK high street.I will certainly never shop at any Lidl again.

“yet more food safety issues”

★★★☆☆

written by romi2nikki1 on 01/01/2017

I am just pasting in my latest communication to the CEO " I say more, it is actually the second item bought that has food safety issues. The product is Milbona Natural Yoghurt 500 gramme. Use by date 12.01.17, unopened and kept at the top of our fridge. I cannot see a batch number. Has you can see from the photos the product is seriously fermenting, and is likely to blow soon. Product would cause serious illness to a baby. Product fault could be caused by 1 The actual manufacturing process or too high a temperature during shipping 2 Being stuck is aisles for a prolonged period of time, prior to being put in chill cabinets. I have noticed chilled product in aisles, simply because staff are being called away to attend tills. I have noticed lapses of an hour, when I once left and came back to Lidl. My last complaint was about out of date yoghurt being sold. Might I suggest that all staff have an eyesight test. Might be a case of " fastest till operator of the month, but the number of times that I have to go back to the checkout because a 30% discount as not been applied. "

“Fruit and vegetables well past their best.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/11/2016

Visited Lidl store Woodlesfod, Leeds 20th November 2016. Whilst being happy in my purchase of bread, meat and dairy produce, I was appalled by the quality of Oakland's fruit and vegetables. Oranges were green mouldy and rotting in the pre packed boxes and bags on display, the celery was dark green and obviously picked too early for consumption. If I had bought some, it would have gone off before it was easy to eat. I purchased some carrots, which were just ok along with a bag of baby potatoes. I have just prepared these for our meal today, and was disgusted by their quality. The potatoes were shrivelled on the outside and when peeled there were black areas inside every potato. The lot went into the dustbin. I will not dare to use Lidl again, will be going back to Tesco in future.photo

“Lidl the best supermarket EVER”

★★★★★

written by StockwellTiger on 19/11/2016

I used to be a supermarket snob until I went home to visit my family in Ireland and my mum was always raving about Lidl and telling me how great their laundry liquid and cat and dog food is so I decided to go with her when she went shopping and was surprised at the amount of fresh produce, cheeses, cold meats and especially wine they stocked. I live in London so when I returned from Ireland I went for a shop in Lidl Streatham and have been doing my shopping in Lidl since then 2012. I always found the staff in Streatham to be very friendly and helpful and was quite impressed with the service and any produce I purchased. I moved form Streatham to Stockwell in January this year and was so pleased to have a branch of Lidl less than 10 minutes walk form my new place. The Stockwell branch is fantastic and all the staff there are always busy but friendly and helpful as much as they can. I love all the cheeses especially the medium cheddar and the haloumi is totally yummy, the ham selection is fab and I adore their streaky bacon. The selection of fresh meat is good, I really like the chicken thighs and the roast pork shoulder. The jam and great especially the sour cherry and I go through a jar of honey a week from Lidl. The thing I like most about Lidl is their wine selection and the offers they have on a regular basis, in the Stockwell branch they have regular offers on wines which make me very happy. The Xmas products are fantastic, I have bought goose crown, stollen, xmas cake, macaroons, and other yummy products which I know are tasty and good quality because I have been buying them for a few years now. I have bought many of the Lidl special buys which are always good value and the Silvercrest brand never lets me down. I have on one occasion had to return a product that was faulty and found their staff helpful and refunds are no issue once you have your receipt. Thank you Lidl and keep up the good work.
