As a fan of the original Black Magic chocolates i am so upset that you have given this box of disgusting offerings the black magic name.Where is the original recipe. The overall rating and value star given but should have had a minus in front of them. The orange centre does not have a strong orange flavour and is too hard the chocolate should be dark and plain. The overall appearance is bad cheap looking. They were an xmas pressie from my daughter,i wish she had kept her money… Read Full Review

Both my husband and I love dark chocolate. On buying a couple of boxes for Christmas I felt so disappointed to the point I couldn't finish them.
The taste of your chocolate is poor now to the point I won't even buy them until your standard improves… Read Full Review

Having been a great lover of "the old Black Magic" chocolates it was with great pleasure that I was given a box for a present.
The word disappointment on trying the flavours do not adequately describe my reaction to this new product.
Quite frankly they are disgusting! With an over powering sweetness and very little flavour the chocolates have been thrown away - never again.

Only given one star, grudgingly, as these chocolates bear no resemblence to the 'old Black Magic'. Its criminal. Not a pleasure to look at or to eat… Read Full Review

My partner and I have always loved dark, bitter chocolate and the Black Magic Assortment were firm favourites.
I was delighted when I saw them on sale in Tesco after some absence from the shelves. What a an appalling disappointment they were; we really couldn't believe they were genuine and were convinced they had been faked! The overwhelming sweetness almost made us feel sick. The chocolate covering was a pale imitation of what it once had been and nothing like dark, plain chocolate. The… Read Full Review

I certainly will not buy Nestle Black Magic again. After many years of being a supportive husband of a BM-dependent wife, she has overcome her condition completely ... thanks entirely to Nestle's appalling effort at re-launching the brand. Lets not beat about the bush - yuk… Read Full Review

Bought these for my wife's birthday. An old favourite. No dark chocolate and lost all the great centres. What a disappointment. Straight in the bin. No wonder Tesco has dropped them to less than half price. You shouldn't be able to give them away. Trust Nestle to mess up a great confectionery! Haven't they heard of trying market research before launching a product? Could have been thought up by the losing team on The Apprentice!… Read Full Review

Black Magic was my favorite chocolates of all time, the new selection seems to have some of my favorite centres missing ie. coffee cream, + cherry + mallow & fudge, & seems to concentrate on hard centres it's a pity as I was so pleased to find them back on sale, Why not make them the same as the original?… Read Full Review

These chocolates are terrible!!! I grew up loving Black Magic chocolates, back when they were made by Rowntree. All through the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's, these were my favorite chocolates. All my family and friends loved them -- not any more. The chocolate used to be dark -- not any more. The chocolate wasn't as sugary sweet as the cheap chocolates you buy at the grocery store -- not any more. The menu inside used to show a wonderful variety of different chocolates that I would look… Read Full Review

My mum is or shall I say was an avid fan of Black Magic chocolates she is 79 and I am 53 I was brought up on them. You can imagine our delight when we saw them back on the shelves.
The selection has been changed much over the years I know but come on guys a big box of chocs which cost £6.49 only has 6 selections and we had to look twice to confirm it was dark chocolate.
The only pleasure we got was reminiscing about the old selection.
Sorry unless the selection is changed back we will not be… Read Full Review

The new 'Black Magic' are absolutely appalling. What a disappointment. I have bought Black Magic chocs for decades but no more. There is nothing to be said for any one of the paltry selection of 6 non-event cheapo chocolates. The chemical taste of the orange and raspberry....words fail me. I can't imagine what they are thinking. UNADULTERATED RUBBISH!… Read Full Review

It's a pity there is no option for awarding no stars for this travesty of a box of chocolates. I have bought better chocs down my local market for £1. My boyfriend and I laughed over the descriptions accompanying the selection. Whoever dreamed those up wasn't eating Black Magic. Weren't even worth putting in the compost bin… Read Full Review

I am 79 and as long as I can remember I bought Black Magic chocs for my mother on many many occasions. She died 25 years ago and would be disgusted at the present stuff. Someone bought me a 'Classic' selection for Xmas and since we have a fox visit the garden who will try most things, I put them out but they were not touched and the chocs went into the bin. Sickly sweet and horrible, they are an insult to the name of a once quite good confection. I have given them a one star rating… Read Full Review

Black Magic Classic?!!? NO STARS!!! INEDIBLE - total waste of money. Horrible horrible sweets - do not deserve the name chocolates - I was so looking forward to them - agree with this reviews - the square"truffles" were ghastly and went in the bin last year. The classics my mum bought me this year are also in the bin - the orange "cream" was so awful I spat it out - sugary, articial junk. Who on earth does taste tests for them. If the chocs had not been given as a gift I would have asked for my… Read Full Review

Although the 'Classic Favourites' are a big improvement on the atrocity that came before, I miss the strawberry and coffee flavours... My poor mother will be spinning in her grave.... The chocolate isn't even as nice as it used to be, the smell just isnt the same.... Not as good as I remember, I'm afraid, and I will be contacting Nestle to complain… Read Full Review

Black Magic was a firm favourite of my father's. It became the only chocolate box I enjoyed. My five children loved them. Last year I couldn't find any apart from plain chocolates with no soft centres- dissappointing! This year great found my favourite box. Only they weren't. No strong dark chocolate smell when I opened the box, they didn't look dark, they certainly didn't taste like they used to, no coffee no cherry. How very dissappointing. What has happened?… Read Full Review
