I even sent an email to Nestles in England about this. How could any company take the product they are so well known for and totally destroy it? This seems to be something a lot of companies have done when they take over an existing product. Maybe they think no one notices or cares or maybe there is just so much more profit to be made by using substandard ingredients. I think most people would pay a premium to purchase the original chocolates packaged in the original box from past years… Read Full Review

My husband of 45 years has always had a soft spot for a box of Black Magic. He was given a box recently and they are all changed, nothing like the lovely chocolates he used to like so much. He loved the soft centers and I liked the toffees and hazelnuts. Nothing for him and none I liked either. Why change something good?… Read Full Review

What is happening at Nestle???,when I tried these I had to laugh,UTTER RUBBISH,the dark chocolate smell gone, montelimar, butterscoth, the round one with cherry, all gone, other nestles confections they have ruined are fruit pastilles, THEY ALMOST ALL TASTE THE SAME no distinct fruit difference lime used to be very lime, orange very orange, they are now ALL bland shadows of their former glory. And Kit Kat has been ruined by a sickly chocolate that turns slimey in your mouth, who is rumnning this… Read Full Review

What a disappointment! The name 'Classic Collection' couldn't be more inaccurate. Where are the classic Black Magic centres - hazelnut clusters, toffee and mallow, butterscotch, turkish delight, caramel to name but a few?
I was given a large box of BM as a present, but finding the selection so unappetising I took it to a social club which I attend. I actually had difficulty in giving them away - because all those present knew what Black Magic used to be like and were not impressed by the… Read Full Review

Was given Black Magic for mothers' day - and what a disappointment. As other reviews have said, they are NOTHING like original Black Magic! Where is the half moon coffee cream, montelimar, and other original chocs? The ones in the box bear no resemblance in appearance or taste to the 'proper' ones. I think the sales pitch and name is totally misleading… Read Full Review

I agree totally with the reviews, black magic are a real disappointment, all the original centre's
gone, now they are the same as all the other truffle chocs which in my opinion are bland and all taste the same.
Come on nestle you must be reading the reviews.sort it out, I want to see black magic originals centers back on the shelfs.

What happened to Black Magic? I thought maybe it was just me until I went looking for reviews and found everybody else asking the same question. Hardly any of the old favourites in there, and what was there was sickly sweet and unpleasant. The box I bought didn't live up to my memories or my expectations, and I note the way the packaging was arranged to make a modest number of chocolates look more generous on the shelf.
I won't be buying them again… Read Full Review

I have so missed Black Magic and when I spotted them in the shops, hints went out to relatives for Christmas prezzy's. I received three large boxes but what a disappointment. Only a choice of six flavours and nothing whatsoever like the originals. I wont be asking for them again. Still have two and a half boxes left, if they were as good as before, all three boxes would be long gone. I would have liked to know how cr*p they were and then I would not of asked for them… Read Full Review

Nestle have ruined the Black Magic selection. The current chocolates are nowhere near the standard of the originals and there is a very limited selection. As an aside, Nestle have also ruined KitKat by using a disgusting bland "chocolate" instead of the original Rowntree chocolate. I would have given them no stars if it had been possible!… Read Full Review

Black Magic were always my favorite. I opened a box last night to find 6 chocs which were nothing like the originals. Where are the montelimar, the choc brazil , coffee cream and turkish delight. I was so disappointed, and I still have another larger box to open. On looking at that, I see it has the same 6 chocs in. What on earth has happened?? There is no smell on opening the box of the deliciously dark chocolate, and in fact I thought they were milk chocolates!!
I believe these boxes of chocs… Read Full Review

Sadly very disappointed. The six 'favourites' I don't think so and not the old hard dark chocolate. The most disappointing was the Haselnut one. In times past there were three hazalnuts in a cluster with a hard crunchy base - now its one nut in mush. The Almond chocolate has barely a piece of almondin mush. The fudge is sickly sweet - nothing to bite into. Caramel one is too soft - well I gave up then and took the box to work hoping that others might eat them, but not so. Many of my colleagues… Read Full Review
