“REFUND”

Written on: 07/02/2013 by zaedlo (2 reviews written)

Argos failed to deliver a sofabed/futon saying it was to large to get up the stairs and offered to send me a cheque as a refund on 28/01/2013. One week later I asked Argos where my money was, they again promised me a refund within 5 days. Today I received a voucher for the £306.44 they owe me. After my second complaint, I made it clear I would never shop in their store again, Why send a voucher. So far they have had my money for 7 weeks in all… Read Full Review

“Don't get one”

Written on: 07/01/2013

I've been with Argos cards services for a while and have ran up a good debt due to financial problems, but I'm on a turn around at the moment and can transfer the balance to my new card at a lower rate. But Argos won't allow you to pay your balance off with a credit card either by payment or balance transfer. I would look for a credit card first and if they offer you theirs ask if they allow balance transfers before signing on the bottom line. In times like this I want to know why they insist… Read Full Review

“Dreadful Customer Service”

Written on: 01/12/2012

Four weeks after applying for an Argos card my wife and I are still waiting but have pretty much given up! The customer service has been unbelievably bad. Argos badly need to shake up their rude staff. Ringing them is pretty useless. Twice they have written to us, asking for more details which we have quickly supplied. The letters are brusque and rude even though we have only shown these people politeness and consideration. Most letters finish with something like, "Please answer this letter… Read Full Review

I suspect that I may be about to have the same experience that you've described.

I've just been on the argos website to place a large order for furniture for the house that I'm about to move into. I was aware that buying with the argos card would give me a 12 month interest free period and so I applied for the credit.

According to the website, the decision should be immediate and so I could apply for the credit and buy the items at the same time. However, after submitting all the information they requested, the website responded that they will get back to me in a week's time!

The last time I'd applied for the argos card was 14 years ago when i was about to move to my current flat. They had declined my application even though I'd had several years credit history of paying off my credit cards every month and actually owned both flats that I was moving between.

I still pay off the full balance of my credit cards every month and now I own out right the flat I'm moving out of and the house I'm moving into.

I suspect that eventually if argos gets back to me, it will be with a rejection.

I wonder if argos is deliberately rejecting people with good credit histories because they want to use the interest free period to trap those people who are least likely to be able to pay off the balance?

I will not place my order with them unless they approve my credit application. I hope other people in similar situation will do the same and refuse to order unless their credit application is approved.

“Argos Store Card Refusal”

Written on: 07/11/2012

I applied online for a Argos Store Card, given full and true detsils only to be refused at the end, the best is yet to come.....I was offered a Argos Credit Card!!!??? The fact remains that I have the financial facilities to repay the amount on a store card in full in order not to inccur interest charges. I was referred to Experion to which nothing in the report show any descrepancies. All payments met and are being met,how do they decide a refusal and have the audacity to offer a Credit… Read Full Review

“disgusting customer service!”

Written on: 26/10/2012

i've waited 3 weeks for my card and it is still not here! it took 2 days for my agreement to reach me which i signed and returned the next working day. i rang up earlier today to chase up my card and i was shouted at down the phone by some woman. i only asked how long my card was going to take! i think argos need to take a step back and improve their customer service! they are supposed to be known for their promptness and excellent customer service but i am afraid that has all gone out of the… Read Full Review

“A joke”

Written on: 11/10/2012 by BabyRae (1 review written)

A few months back I went into the argos in airdrie retail park to my a bouncer for my 3 month old son. While I was at the check out the lady asked me if I would like to take out an argos card and explained the benefits of it. I payed for the bouncer cash in hand £24.99. Yesterday I recieved a letter from argos saying that I owed £24.99 on my card even though I have never used it. I phoned customers services and explained my situation but as u can guess they were absolutely useless and told me… Read Full Review

“Really good!”

Written on: 23/07/2012 by Jayoh (1 review written)

Can't beleive all the people complaining about interest charges, obviously they are going to do this, any types of loans do, they can't give away stock for years until you can pay! If you pay the full balance within the buy now pay later period it's a really good option. I hate debt and don't have any but decided on a store card after we were left without some electricals after a break in- was easy to make payments and customer service were always nice with me :-)… Read Full Review

Never get a card from them, I got married and they wanted me to send my ORIGINAL marriage certificate so i refused. I then wanted to pay my balance off and close the account, but pay with the debit card in my married name and was told i couldn't as my name had changed....BUT I COULD GET someone else with a completly different name to pay it for me? how does that make sense? so i said i will get my mum who lives 200 miles away to call you, i then had to hang up, call my mum ask her to pay it… Read Full Review

“your are mad 2 get 1 ”

Written on: 08/04/2012 by aslan_the_wise (1 review written)

Plz i advise ppl not 2 get a argos card or any other sort of store care and if u do feel the need 2 get 1 then use them in extreme emergencies because the store companies encourage u to use them and to buy more expensive items and they will keep bumping up your credit limit so u will but more its fine if u can keep up with the agreed payments but as soon as u miss 1 they will come down on you with debt collectors and balliffs . I work for a debt advisory group and ive seen countless ppl coming… Read Full Review

“Enter the agreement with your eyes open people”

Written on: 12/03/2012 by trebor57 (1 review written)

I have had my Argos Store Card for many years and not suffered a single problem. Every month my statement arrives without delay. The statements clearly show how much you have spent and how much you have paid. I have never had any problems with BNPL deals which I have taken advantage of many times. They make it quite clear that your BNPL purchase will be interest free if you pay the full balance before the BNPL end date. If the full amount is not paid by the end date interest will be charged… Read Full Review

Terrible, terrible, terrible service. Lines are supposed to be open until 8pm, this is not the case. Lose your card Friday evening, wait until Monday to report. You are responsible for £50 when used fraudulently. Ridiculous service, locked me out of My argos card account when I logged on to check my balance to see if used fraudulently. You have to ring to unlock. Ridiculous service… Read Full Review

“Fine for buy now pay later on anything over 3 months....”

Written on: 20/01/2011

Fine for buy now pay later on anything over 3 months. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE for purchases under £95. I was told that anything purchased for under £95 qualified for a 59 day buy now pay later. This was, however, completely untrue. It turned out to be 20days. I was on holiday when the statement was delivered and as I had been told I had 59 days to pay, had not arranged payment. Result= card I now cannot use, a £12 late fee and an arrears on my credit history. Customer services were abysmal and… Read Full Review

The argos card is good if you keep on top of your payment due dates. Anyone who falls foul of this really have themselves to blame. I have never paid intrest to argos. think about it, only use it if you think you can handle the payment when it comes round.

This said i think Argos are ruining the card service. When i first joined (around 8 years) i could put items on the card for over £295.00 and get 12 months intrest free. A few years back this was reduced to 9 months intrest free, with 12… Read Full Review

you really only have yourself to blame then don't you..

<br/>a credit card would be the same.. why not pay more each month to try and clear the balance, or take a personal loan at a much cheaper rate.
