The Oreck XL is a very expensive vacuum that doesn't work. It throws out dust and won't pick up even surface lint. I am very disappointed. I called the company and asked for a part and they assured they would mail, but never heard from them again. Can't find anyone to do warranty work. Bags are ...

The XL is overpriced, but compared to the other vacuums I would have gone through by now, this one is still going strong. The belt does need changing a lot (I vacuum every other day and have a golden retriever). One other down side is that the vacuum smells like "dog" when I'm done. And forget ab ...

when the vacuum works it is great. however there seems to be a problem with mine... today, i changed belts and it burned out a new one. Now I am afraid to use it as I don't have any more spare belts if this one burns out!

The belts on our Oreck XL don't last long, and they stink up the house as they are rubbing and burning through. The warranty and help after buying were also very poor.

Tired of going through vacuums every two year. Hoover, Kenmore, Eureka's, (two or three Eureka's) count the vacuums I went through and then go buy an Orreck.

From an industrial design point I like the Oreck XL but it does not compare with the Eureka's and Hoovers in the same price category. It has low suction compared to other makes and it takes multiple passes to pick up anything that is not just laying on the carpet surface. Another aggravating trait i ...

We have 6 cats, and we love the Oreck XL vacuum cleaner!! It works great! The people that are leaving poor reviews I guess don't know how to use it! LOL! We use the Crystal instead of the powder cleaner. The powder cleaner is what killed our last vac, which was a Hoover. We have no problem with the ...

We had the Oreck XL for a few months when it started becoming more difficult to pick up with it. We finally took it to the retailer for an inspection (after making sure it was not the belt or bag) and they told us Resolve Carpet Cleaner (or "that white stuff" as they called it) was ruining the moto ...

I was surprised to read the poor reviews of the Oreck cleaner. Other than the belt being difficult to change, I absolutely love it. I have 2 teenagers, 2 large HAIRY dogs (German Shepard & Border Collie), and a messy husband ... the Oreck has been wonderful and easy on my bad back. The separate c ...

Wow, I'm surprised by all the bad reviews of the Oreck XL. I've had mine for 5 years, after going through two Hoovers in four years (the disposable vacuum cleaner), and I've never had a problem. It works great, picks up dog/cat hair wonderfully (I have two golden retrievers and two cats!), and have ...
