Groan ... I can see from these reviews there is a blatant pattern of poor quality service and cynical trading practises.
I will never shop at Habitat again.
I always thought them so overpriced anyway... mostly designer chipboard & melamine, but it is their customer service that is appalling: they told me items are in stock when they do not have stock as they are discontinued, and then failing to refund, and then not refunding postage for items never posted. I ordered a sofa 6 weeks ago now. Habitat have said the sofa would be delivered within 4-5 weeks. When I rung after 4 weeks they told me to check the bottom of the receipt which said they would call within 5 weeks to arrange delivery, how convenient. I have just had a Porto sofa delivered with Cole chair and table. The DPD refused to try and get it up into my flat, and they had only 2 men for a sofa that obviously takes 4 men to move up to my floor. Ridiculous. I measured the space and it fits through with a little persuation.
I called Habitat and am awaiting their response and solution.
Not a happy bunny,

I must say, that having read most of the reviews on here that I am pretty shocked! I have used the online service about half a dozen times this year and have only once had an issue with an out of stock item (which was resolved with a swift refund causing no delay to rest of my orders). When I dealt with the online customer service team they were extremely helpful, I can honestly say that they made me feel at ease when I was panicking a little! Pathetic, horrible customer service. DO NOT use their online shopping. They shipped 6 wine glasses and 8 tumblers, each wrapped only in tissue with no padding. All but 3 were smashed, and they sent all varieties of colours instead of the colours I ordered. Ordered a Perouse wardrobe from Habitat on 5th Dec 09 and was told delivery will be in 3 weeks (26th Dec).Anyway, Christmas and new year goes by still no delivery. well, my delivery never took place! I ordered a sofa (Porto chaise sofa bed) in January, the 8th 2010. I ordered on the phone and finally on Saturday, so exactly after 11 weeks, the delivery company shows up...they did not even try to fit the sofa into the lift. They just said that the office should have sent 4 men instead of 2 because as I had pointed out on the notes of the order, I live on the 4th floor. As with various reviews on this site, I have also had a terrible experience with online delivery from Habitat and their delivery company, DPD. After they had failed twice to deliver my item as arranged before Christmas, I phoned and cancelled the order. I purchased a Lay Wall Mirror from habitat at a cost of £169 plus a nominal delivery charge of £4.95. I had been waiting since late last year for this item to come back into stock and had contacted habitat to confirm it had not been discontinued.
The item arrived with no warning so they left a while you were out card. I arranged to be at home the next time they courier delivered.

Avoid the Habitat website. I placed an order and they took my money, it should then have been a simple matter of delivering the goods. Except it wasn't. They sent me an email to say they would be despatching part of the order at a new (higher) price. I contacted their customer service department and got no response so when the part order arrived, I rejected it. There has never been any sign of the rest of the order. I have had the worst experience in my life with Habitat Nottingham. My own store closed following a purchase of cutlery - Katja which developed on 4 knives a series of rusty stains. Whilst they claim this cutlery to be 'dishwasher safe.'IT CERTAINLY IS NOT AND HAS TO BE WASHED BY HAND TO keep it looking anything like decent. Why do they advertise dishwasher safe if it isnt? I have signed up twice to a registration system designed to notify me when the crockery I purchased was about to be discontinued. Twice, the system has failed and I have been left with no alternative but to phone other stores or pay for multiple postage to get the replacements I need from stores all around the country.
