“Gone downhill!”

I feel that I know this company reasonably well, being that I was an employee of theirs for nearly 6 years, and since I stopped work there I can see the massive problems that now occur. Comet were in great financial difficulty and as such I believe that many of their store staff that weren't salespeople were given the option to become salespeople or go. Should've checked my receipt, tut. The salesman didn't even allocate the tv to come into the store. I've given them one more chance....they've arranged a free delivery for wednesday and a salesman has said he'll ring me within the hour to give me the date of delivery.

I'm fully expecting no tv on Wednesday. What an embarrassment Comet, an ex-employee fully expects you to fail.

“Don't Buy Here”

I bought 3 items, seperately over the course of a week with Comet online. Not one of the orders went through successfully, and they didn't bother to tell me. I paid using the AMEX option on their system. Apparently I was declined because my Paypal payement didn't go through!!! Shambles, I never even used Paypal, and the customer service person told me that AMEX isn't an option on Comet. Funny that, considering I paid using AMEX 3 times. “Slack, uncooperative, couldnt care less.”

we spent £350 on a samsung 32" television and after 8 months it suddenly blew up. we took it back into comet and spoke to "phil" on "customer services" who stared blankly and said "we wont replace it, it needs to go for repair". I said it was only 8 months old and he shrugged and said "youve had it for a while now then". ?????? This sounds just like what we are going through at the moment. The only difference is our TV was only 3 months old! It should have been back from repair last Wednesday, it wasn't, called in store today and told they are waiting for a part. It should be back on 23/08/2012 by which time they will have had it for a month. The staff today were not helpful and even the manager was stroppy, they really couldn't care less. I will never shop there again.

The hold up is not comet, When you buy a product and it goes faulty within 12 months under the manufacture warranty , its sent back to the manufacture or a repair company to fix. It can take up to 28 days from the day its sent off. Your issue is with either the manufacture or repair company. Also you will not have a product replaced just because its 8 months old, All companies hold the right to have the item inspected, even if you sent the item direct to the manufacturer they would follow the same policy of 28days to inspect and repair the item, its a shame you spoke to one of the many poor useless members of staff that are been slowly shipped out of the company.

This service I am afraid established throughout the entire company and the present owners ,Opcapita have neither the will or the skills to correct it. They will ditch Comet within a short period of time and grab whatever profit theycan after throwing thousands on the dole. I can say this as I have recently been thrown on the scrap heap by them amongst many of my colleagues who did try to give al level of service which was not supported by management at the top.There is only one group of people less important to them than their staff and that, I am afraid to say is their customers.Profit is the only thing important to them. Shop with your feet is the best solution.

I got a delivery slot within 10 days of payment, driver came at day and time specified and fridge was boxed in very good condition. Friendly and helpful delivery staff. “Fitting appliances rip off on Cookers”

I bought a cooker from comet for my daughter. The seller insisted that the item needed fitting by a qualified electrian and they would provide this service for £65. I thought this expensive for our area, but I was going on holiday and paid for their service for convenience. “Outraged!!”

My 91 year old mother bought a fridge freezer - it broke down after just two weeks !! Comet just did not want to know. According to Trading Standards she were entitled under the Sale of Goods Act to her money back but Comet is law unto themselves, they insisted it was nothing to do with them even though they were 'point of sale'. Comet are now going and my Asus Lap top was never repaired.

5 months is all it lasted and now sits under the stairs unusable.

What huts the most is some big finance director is living it up in luxury houses drinking fine wines out of all the complainants faulty purchases from this Company.

The whole company including the parent Company should be made to compensate every person that complained of a faulty purchase.

“Comet fails to shine”

I purchased a Beko WME7267W washing machine for over £300. After having the machine for only three months the circuit board malfunctioned and it had to be repaired. One year later and the same problem happened again with the circuit board. “Poor choice, poor demo lazy staff”

Went out today with £1500 cash to buy a 3d tv, went straight to comet in Harlow and was soo disappointed, firstly the shop was laid out like some cash converter shop, tv's randomly position, no structure no idea where the 3d tv's were. Once we found them, not one of them was set up to demonstrate 3d. Asked staff if we could view the 3d on a telly we got a direct "no" staff more interested in watching football. “Cheap, but awful if something goes wrong.”

We bought a Tefal Actifry from Comet in March 2011. The lid cracked and broke after only 7 months. Comet replaced it. The replacement has just broken (same fault). A web search revealed that this is a very common problem with the units, and obviously a quality / design fault. Tefals position is that the warranty runs from the original purchase date of March 2011. “Kettle off for repair!-7 weeks no coffee”

Bought a Panasonic washing machine from Comet in April so that it could be fitted as part of a new kitchen install. Advice and help from the sales team when choosing the product was good, and it was put into service when water was reconnected to our new kitchem on 3rd May. On 28th May it suffered a major failure. “Just a shame that 'Terrible' is the lowest rating...”

'Terrible' would be an understatement when describing the Customer Service at Comet! Bought a laptop just over a month ago, and returned it due to it being faulty and a number of the keys jamming. The staff on the customer service desk were unhelpful, as was the manager. The only option available was to 'send the laptop away for repairs which could take upto EIGHTEEN days' or, as the member of staff on customer services suggested - 'you could carry a keyboard around with you'. TERRIBLE SERVICE - I had a fridge freezer delivered and old one removed, guy scored/scratched wooden floor which we only noticed when they left, they returned to view it within half an hour and I overheard them talk to base admitting it was deff ineptly them, and it was fresh scratches caused by them pushing wheeling the appliance out, they where then very apologetic to my husband and myself and I said not to worry because he told us company would deal with it and have it fixed, I had to make the phone call only to find out that they had given a written statement saying it wasn't them and they carried both appliance - lies lies lies, comet is sticking by the statement given by he men (which I think they where bullied into!!!!) and not prepared to sent anyone else out to see the damage caused to our flooring!!!! So it's okay for their employees to come into your home, and destroy it and they will accept the word of employees rather than listen to customer or inspect for themselves - this is not the end of it because I will be taking them to court and instead of asking of a repair I will now insist they replace the whole flood and fitting
