aarggghhh, d/l ing ringtones/logos is usch a breeze on this phone unlike the stupid nokia 8210 I had earlier.
I can simply d/l unlimited no. of logos/ringtones on this fone from my comp, instead of gettiing OTA(over the air)ringtones/logos 1at a time like on a Nokia, add to it the fact that OTA ringtones/logos cost a bloody packet

The built in MP3 player on this Siemens SL45 mobile phone is great. A full CD of music on your phone - excellent - and the headphones double as the hands free as well.

You can also use any .BMP image as your screen saver which is a nice touch.

On the down side, the operating system software is VERY SLOW. Do not get his phone is you like your text messaging - it will drive you nuts.

In all, i like it a lot as its got the MP3 player but as a general phone - i'd get a Nokia anyday!… Read Full Review

hi Dillon, you just need an IR port on a pc, and then you just turn on the IR data signal on the phone. On the pc select to send the data through IR, the relevant software'll activate as soon as it detects the phone's presnece.

Written on: 11/12/2002

Your review is obviously lacking in genuine knowledge of a mobile phone market and situations. Having worked in the industry for several years, and knowing enough about the technology of mobile phone to know that jumping on this so called "nokia bandwagon" is a fallacy and not the smartest move to make.
While I respect the right of free speech, and everyone has their own opinion, the fact that every nokia released is a cheap imitation of its predecessor, and sorely lacks imagination and the software to match is the a cold hard fact. Brands like siemens, philips, and panasonic seem to be the brands that lead in technology, nokia then comes along and produces a model, copying features with no luck. Percentage wise as a retail comm store, we see more nokias back with faults that any other brand. So the statement, "i would get a nokia any day" is a poor example to give any readers you may have. The siemens software is not slower, I have used many many models, and this statement is far from true

I have used siemens mobile phones since the S4 phone (still working).
I'm happy with my SL45. I bought it with an OLD firmware, (v.04). Lotta problems, SMS doesn't works fine and so on.
Now I upgrade before to v.52, what a great thing!!! SMS finally works fine, is much faster than before, so then finally I decided to upgrade to v.54. I remapped some things and everything goes well. (Little bit scared, I admit)… Read Full Review

Written on: 08/08/2002 by Eoin. (1 review written)

I am now on my third SL45, As the first two kept giving me "Card Error" messages which causes the phone to Crash, like a PC. Not only that, but the phone (if you can call it that) is inclined to switch itself off 2-3 times a day, on a full battery. Now this one is starting to do the same. 8 months, three phones, heading for a fourth. The problem is the Multi Media Card, supposedly an innovation in mobile media, more like a nightmare. This little card causes so much trouble it stops the phone… Read Full Review

Tib.'s Response to 32359_Eoin.'s Review

Written on: 12/12/2002

Hi there, I believe this review is highly unhelpful.
The reviewer makes no actual attempt at reviewing the phone, but only shares some bad experiences that are not in any way representative of the quality of this telephone.
I can speak from personal experience, I have had the Siemens SL45 ever since it came out almost 2 years ago. I have not had ANY problems with it whatsoever. I am extremely pleased. A couple of my friends also have this phone and have had little or no trouble with it in almost 2 years. So my dear friend, it looks like your company got a bad batch!
If you are indeed looking into Nokia telephone then you will be in more trouble than you think!!
Take my word for it, my fiancee works for them!

Well, from what I see in my old 3518. The sim slot is hold up with the back cover with the center piece. So, should you drop it once too often.... it gets loossy. Mine only gets the pop up "Card Error" only 1 day after the warranty gone, and it was sitting quietly on the table. Geez, what happend?

Written on: 19/12/2002

I experienced the same thing! My phone was only 6 months old before it started displaying 'card error' althought my boyfriends siemens sl45 was only six months before it was faulty. He has had two replaces, I have had one. The case also cracks too easily! I have dropped it twice only, while my old Ericsson mobile (5 yrs old still going strong!) has been dropped numerous times without cracking the case or damaging the mobile...
I don't think it's a bad batch, I think the quality of design and materials have gone downhill for Siemens. Too many people have bad siemens sl 45.

“Siemens SL45 mobile phone: ”

Written on: 10/06/2002 by Jack. (1 review written)

Siemens SL45 mobile phone:
1. The appointment can record only 12 characters, therefore it is not easy to record, my suggestion is that if it could contain around 60 characters, it would be the best mobile phone in terms of PDA,
2. The Antenna is inconvenient to use,
3. Battery is not last-longer for heavy user,
4. No appropriate casing for this model,

However, I still like it very much as the organizer is excellent. If manufacturer will introduce a new model in the near future, please abandon… Read Full Review

It took me no time at all to pick up controls and navigation with my former phone (Sony J5) and many months before I got the knack of predictive text. Now I love this Siemens SL45 mobile phone - wanted one for a while. Now I have it, it's quite hard to get the hang of. The predictive text seems a mystery to me with this phone, so looks like I'll have to re read instructions over and over to get it into my thick skull. I love it tho, it's my new shiny friend. Had this Siemens SL45 mobile phone for 3 months now and it is my third one in the same year after the 1st was nicked, the replacement was found to be second hand (DONT EVER SHOP AT PHONES 4U!!). This one's keypad works only intermittently, and needs very firm presses to operate the keys. Written on: 09/04/2002 by Kyle_Phones. (1 review written)

OK,
I recently purchased a Siemens SL45 mobile phone and all is going fine. I myself am a great fan of Siemens so I don't have a problem with them. They are excellent for reception etc etc. But in my bad points I said it was easily breakable. I found that out quite quickly. I accidentally dropped the phone on tarmac and with great luck, I had the £25 HARD CASE on, it slightly damaged the side, bu not really noticable and if I had no case I am certain it would have broken completely. SO the SL45… Read Full Review

The Siemens SL45 mobile phone should have come out 6 months later. By then they could have made it faster, more reliable and user friendly - it is none of these. My 2nd one has just broken so I've gone back to my old Nokia 9110 brick. OK this sums it up - it has an inbuilt MP3 player, great. But is there USB connection?
