No wonder Debenhams are not doing well. I ordered something from them which was showing as in stock online. They debited the money from my account but a couple of days later I received an email to say the item was not available, despite it still showing as in stock on the website. Their email suggested I re-order but I got the item from John Lewis instead. I have waited anything up to 10 days for things to arrive in store via their click and collect service. When visiting the store in Bedford on Saturday 8th march I was very disappointed with the service I received. I wanted to make a purchase for some foundation from the Dior make up counter. When I first arrived in store at 9.15 I was told the lady who ran the Dior counter wouldn't be there till 10am. “Poor customer service”

I went to the mac section a couple of weeks ago. And the staff were stood talking for about 15 minuets I looked at them several times and made it obvious I wanted attention and they ignored me and carried on talking.I then went to the Chanel counter the lady was not selling me the product at all I was looking for a bronzed and she just suggested one put it on my cheeks didn't tell me anything about the product. “appalling dodgy never shop at debenhams plus”

This is the worst ever retail service of my life. I bought a tablet for 219 pounds and I had to return it because I got another one as a gift at thr same time. I didnt even open the package and paid for its return myself via royal mail. When asked refund they won't refund me 219 pounds because I didnt agree to pay a 20 pounds charge. I had fantastic service from a personal shopping session at the Manchester store to choose some new work clothes for a new job. I was offered some great advice on my shape and size and offered some clothes to to try on that I wouldn't usually have picked off the racks. “horrible unfriendly service!”

I am disgusted at the level of attitude three staff gave me upon my arrival at Debenhams! i almost always shop there and it is a shop where my family and freinds shop. however, with the level of rudeness and disgust the staff gave me i would never ever recommend debenhams to anyone. “No refund on return”

I purchased 2 items early December, returned a dress that was a completely different colour to the images through my works post collection service, Debenhams haven't refunded my card and now claim they haven't received the dress and as I don't have a post office stamp for the return they wont do anything. “Stock availability.”

Debenham's have apparently had a very bad Christmas, so why don't they stock things customers actually want to buy? I recently found a website, internetbra.com which showed some absolutely beautiful Presence chemises and long nightdresses, but clicking through to Debenhams website showed that all the items had been "discontinued". Appaling, don't go there, ordered presents for my family for Christmas on 2nd dec , still hadn't got them on 21st so emailed customer service 3 times over next few days and got automated reply, I would have response in 5 days, Which would be 28th dec, so called customer care at my own expense(uk no) and was told id have my gifts on 27th dec, unacceptable, so cancelled my order, still waiting for my refund!!!! Bought a John Rocha fur coat on 19 November, already defected at back where thread has come loose and button detail now hangs down. “WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!”

I've ordered a couple of shirts from Debenhams on the 5th of November, nothing has arrived more than a month later. I emailed several times and got auto response saying CS will get back to me within the next 3 to 5 days nobody did! “HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE - DO NOT USE”

Ordered and paid for 5 MAC items on 11/11/13 with click and collect to be delivered to my local store. Only 1 item delivered to store, no one can tell me where the rest is. “Awful Customer Service!”

I ordered a Christy bedding set in the sale and they sent the wrong one. Upon calling their customer service team they were very clear there was nothing they could do other than return it and re-order. The guy was so unhelpf I asked to speak to a manager and was told I would receive a call within 24hrs. This has been the worst experience ever. Order a table over a month ago and they have delivered it 3 times when we have not been able to be home (between 10am - 1pm Mon - Fri). They wont do an early, late or weekend delivery and they refuse to change the deliver address so that it can be taken to a family member!!!!! Totally agree, try ordering furniture and then have to deal with Furdeco and it gets a whole lot worse - never thought that would be possible! Basically Debenhams in - store help is great, on-line shopping is great too - until something goes wrong and you have to deal with Customer Services over the phone or by email - utter waste of time! I never have this problem with John Lewis, M&S or Next.

“concession service standards”

I work in retail management myself and pride myself on my high standards of customer service. I ordered lights from Debenhams website, with a promise they would be delivered within 2 - 4 days but by 5 days at the outside.
