I was in Wimbledon Debenhams store right before new year, bought a coat for 35 pounds but has been charged for 75 pounds on my debit card in the bank statement. I contacted my bank and they said there is no problem on their side, this is what is charged totally from the store. Had both online and shop experiences with Debenhams.Firstly online I tried to order a xmas gift of a leather mens bag order came fast but was not the pictured item i thought i was ordering, tried another one that looked like item that came as something totally different.Eventually ended up taking both into a store to get the bag off the shelf.

Absolutly terrible! ordered 2 x pairs of dining chairs on 7th Nov and received within 2 days, which I thought was brilliant until I realised that 2 of the chairs were faulty. They would not replace them without me paying for another 2 chairs which I refused to do, so I asked to return all 4 chairs. Just tried to order an expensive watch through Debenhams online during their supposed great 25% discount weekend - but never again! They rejected my order after 7 days so I missed the discount (very convenient!). Then calling to complain customer services told me that I couldn't purchase the product online as my order would be rejected again and refused to tell me why due to security reasons. i shop in debenhams, stirling and find that i often get great bargains. i eat in the restaurant and have taken family and friends there. the food is great and i get a 20% discount by using my debenhams card. i have already bought clothes in the sale for my grandchildrens christmas. i always go to debenhams first when shoppping as i can almost always get what i am looking for from there. i ALWAYS find the staff courteous and more than willing to help. i am not related to any of the staff… Read Full Review

Ordered a chair from Debenhams on-line in July with a 4-5 working day delivery. I am still waiting. I feel that I am being fobbed off with excuses about tracking orders. Ordered a dress from Debenhams. Waited over 2 weeks. No dress. Sent email. Informed that dress was out of stock. Got my credit card statement. I was charged for it and not refunded. called cutomer services, who informed me that there were no plans for a refund and he was not authorised to do it. I had to ring them and email them to get my money back.
This has happened 2 times.

Debenham's customer service record is disgusting...I am still waiting for some of my stuff after sending it in bits and bobs...it has been over a month now.

I have ordered online 2 items for my son from debenhams, was promised that will recieve e-mail updates on my order. Waited and waited, recieved no e-mails whatsoever. E-mailed to debenhams - no reply. Probably they are too busy to reply as this is only a small order. I'm pleased that i haven't placed a big order as the service is crap. I bought a dress from Debenhams on the phone the 6th of March. I shop in browns of chester very often. I am a debenhams cardholder and have never had bad service. The staff are very friendly, helpful and go out of their way to help you.
I have heard about some customers complaining about the returns policy. I do agree but it is the same in most retailers now.

Good variety in stores but terrible service. I bought some clothes and 2 days after that they started with the sale. The manager refused to give the discount whereas most of the stores give a price protection. They even refused to return and bill the same item. The price of goods is good, the quality of goods seems to be good. They also have banned cotton from Uzbekistan because of poor human rights and child forced labour.

Had purchased a dress online in June for a wedding, at last min the wedding was cancelled and I telephoned the customer services department to ask on procedures to return, was advised that shouldn't be a problem as not worn and still had proof of purchase, then passed through to store where explained situation again and was told that could have an exchange or money credited to gift card. if there is an addition service, (returning goods to the shop) after purchase from their web site, then there needs to be a more efficient way of dealing with it, and the staff need training .One lady who dealt with me said "it so rarely happened, when it does, no one knows what to do.
