I have ordered online 2 items for my son from debenhams, was promised that will recieve e-mail updates on my order. Waited and waited, recieved no e-mails whatsoever. E-mailed to debenhams - no reply. Probably they are too busy to reply as this is only a small order. I'm pleased that i haven't placed a big order as the service is crap. I bought a dress from Debenhams on the phone the 6th of March. I shop in browns of chester very often. I am a debenhams cardholder and have never had bad service. The staff are very friendly, helpful and go out of their way to help you.
I have heard about some customers complaining about the returns policy. I do agree but it is the same in most retailers now.

Good variety in stores but terrible service. I bought some clothes and 2 days after that they started with the sale. The manager refused to give the discount whereas most of the stores give a price protection. They even refused to return and bill the same item. The price of goods is good, the quality of goods seems to be good. They also have banned cotton from Uzbekistan because of poor human rights and child forced labour.
Overall it seems to be a good store in my opinion but I do know people that have had problems with the returns policy… Read Full Review

Had purchased a dress online in June for a wedding, at last min the wedding was cancelled and I telephoned the customer services department to ask on procedures to return, was advised that shouldn't be a problem as not worn and still had proof of purchase, then passed through to store where explained situation again and was told that could have an exchange or money credited to gift card. if there is an addition service, (returning goods to the shop) after purchase from their web site, then there needs to be a more efficient way of dealing with it, and the staff need training .One lady who dealt with me said "it so rarely happened, when it does, no one knows what to do. I was just shopping in Debenhams and ended up getting a store card I didn't want due to an extremely hard sell. I was cajoled, stressed, embarrassed and tricked into signing up. I was told it would be cheaper to use the card than to use the tokens and cash I had on me. It cost '£13 more to use the card. I'm unemployed which makes it a big joke that they gave me one anyway - the thing has protection in case you lose your job and can't pay the balance.

Customer service is usually good at Debenhams.
I prefer the 12 hour extravaganza when you get a higher percentage off if they have the size that you want.

Debenhams online sales are synonymous with ordering problems, no stock and no aftersales service. If the price looks too good to be true (or less) then don't expect to receive your product or any after-sales care - your debit card will be refunded around 4 weeks after ordering, without the decency of a reply… Read Full Review

I will not buy anything from Debenhams on-line ever again. First, I could not arrange courier service, I called 5 times!
