My Samsung A800 lasted me 4 years, no problems, waterproof as well, i dropped it in a pond and it still worked perfectly. I got it only because it looked small and cool.

The Samsung A800 is small and easy to use. Never had any trouble with this phone i'd say the best phone i've ever had.

I've had this more than 4 years!
If only i could find something as small and neat but with bluetooth i would replace it.
I don't want another MP3 player, to take photographs or be connected to the internet! I just want a SMALL phone - like this!!

A small sleek phone that looks better than most given its age would recommend buying one now if you want a simple to use good looking phone at a knock down price they go on ebay.co.uk for just over a tenner these days

I like the style of the Samsung A800 mobile phone. It's the smallest phone I've had, and I have had it for two years without any problems. It's curvy sleek design still knocks some of the newer models flat on their backs! The cool blue back-light is great in all lighting conditions, and I can see mine clearly in the light and dark.

The Samsung A800 is a very neat little phone, conveniently small without losing any advantages of a bigger phone. Backlight good, tougher than it looks, just extremely practical.
The options menus could be better, and the battery is a piece of trash but so are most phone batteries.
Would recommend to anyone after a trendy but user-friendly phone.

“The Samsung A800 is the worst phone I have ever owned!...”

★★★☆☆

written by Suzi1509 on 20/05/2005

The Samsung A800 is the worst phone I have ever owned! Ever since I got it 2 years ago I had problems with it! After sending 3 texts, "please wait" is displayed on the screen and it takes a while for the service to be found. Also whenever I made phonecalls to my friends and family, I could hear what they were saying but they could not hear me, although there was a good reception! The games on this phone are poor as they are just rubbish and you can't download or send ringtones or anything like that!
If you are looking to buy a new phone I would not advise this one!!

This is my second phone altogether and that is quite a few seeing as I am only young, but about the phone.

Well, excellent, phone very nice, size: couldn't be better. This is a 100 times better than my old 3210 (nokia) with a very nice screen. My friends also liked this phone. It comes with a wrist strap, a headphone set with microphone, manual, and various other things. Very good deal. As you can see from the pic it has got an arial, this can be replaced with a smaller one. I have had this phone for about 4/5 months. I have had no problems with it. Some people say these phones go weird and the colours inverse and the screen goes all odd. They must've dropped theirs in a puddle. When you get it there is a cover on the charger slot. Very easy to lose. The WAP on this phone takes about 10 seconds to load with full signal and I don't reccommend you go on it too often because it's expensive.

Overall a very good phone. recommended to anybody.

I've had my Samsung A800 phone for about 9months & my screen is starting to play up. The external display goes all funny and also sometimes when I open the phone the colours are the wrong way round. so what should be black is white and what is usually white is black! It's really annoying and also the lines of text go all funny! But only when it feels like it.
I took it back to the shop and they basically said it's wear and tear and there's nothing that can be done!
If any one can help me please get in touch.

Thanks

This review identifies the same problems I have had with the A800. I do not understand why the reviewer gives it such high marks.

written by Missgoldfrapp on 21/06/2004

Well admittedly I was attracted to this phone for it's sleekness - and after reading various other reviews I tend to agree - and what is with the silly tune when you are deleting something? I must have annoyed many people on tubes and at bus stops with it. Yes, yes, the backlight may look fetching however try and fall asleep with it in your room - every five seconds or so you'll think a police car is outside your window. I'm just waiting for the flip cover to snap off - make sure you get a cover for this phone also as tiny scratched are starting to appear. However if appearance is not your thing, then maybe you should invest in something a little more productive. The organiser is atrocious - my alarm won't go off at specified times, a horrible blue backlight eats up battery power like nothing else and you can't change the colour.
Spleen venting is a wonderful thing isn't it? Ok ok, so you've seen this little number in the window and it caught your eye? (Or maybe it was just the service light on the front which by the way looks like a huge eyelash). I do admit though, that reception has improved since I upgraded from my Nokia - oh the shame, the shame! How I miss the brilliant ease of the Nokia menu - faithful, faithful friend how I have foresaken you.
Well, it seems I have lost my virginity to Samsung (if that's possible)..
Did I mention battery life is shocking? Oh please, I'm getting a complex - must stop rambling...

“I got this Samsung A800 mobile phone way back in...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Elastic trickery on 07/05/2004

I got this Samsung A800 mobile phone way back in December 2002 at the time it was probably the smallest, slickest phone on the market but now it just doesn't make the grade.
The A800 still looks a nice phone apart from the disproportionate aerial and the fact that after a few months it starts to look battered (even if kept in a leather case). A nice feature is the crescent shaped service light that you can have flashing any colour you want.
When you open the phone you are greeted with a very stylish well lit key pad which is surprisingly easy to use despite it's small size.
You can navigate the phonebook and menus effortlessly with the very nice "D" pad and the organiser is first rate leading me to beleive this is more of a business type than a fun phone.
The ringtones are mainly classical tunes and the ringer is quiet even on the loudest setting as is the speaker (probably because they're from the same source). The "vibro-alert" vibrates for the first 4 rings with no sound then plays the ringtone with no vibrate (I missed many calls due to this).
SMS is slow, if using Abc mode you have to wait an eternity if you want to use the same key twice in succession (e.g.. the "a" and "b" in about) and the T9 mode gives you some strange words which I think must originate from some alien language.
There are 3 games which if I said they were boring it would be an understatement.
Battery life is almost as bad as it's colour counterpart (T100) with an average of 30 min talk time per day it lasts about 1 to 2 days.
As for reliability it turns off in cold weather, crashes occasionally and the backlight display now comes on only when it feels like it (this started 3 days after the warranty ran out).
I have to finish by telling you about the annoying jingle when you turn the phone on or off, it's HIDEOUS and you can't change or stop it.
There are much better phones out there now for the same price and some really nice ones for a little more so I say look for something other than the A800.

The Samsung A800 is a great mobile phone for someone who doesn't want complicated technological features. I wouldn't say it was basic but it is deffinately a stunner! I as a teenager prefer a phone which is not too expensive as im a bit clumsey and have dropped a few phones in my time! The games are quite good but game number 2 is the best of them all. SO if your looking for a practical and not too dated phone i suggest you give the a800 a whirl!

Overall everybody just has to love the Samsung A800 mobile phone. It looks so cute, you can go 2 the wap and have your favourite artist singing when someone is trying to call you. It makes you look cool and sweet at the same time. After i bought it all my friends got it, now we have to make sure everyone has their Samsung A800 on them when its time to go but I still wouldnt swap it for any other phone. the only downside is when I try to download pictures, logos etc. they dont work. Overall the only thing i can say is "WE LOVIN IT"

I bought the Samsung A800 mobile phone just before christmas and with in 10 days the phone devloped a fault. I sent it back to the manufacture and they said that the damage was caused due to liquid ingress. Tried to get incontact with Virgin and Samsung with no luck. Due to this phone i have not been able to get in contact with my friends or business assisioctes. In my own opinion i would avoid this phone all together it cost me £120 and it is beyond repair.
