“Terrible Choice - Dont Go With The Trend”

Written on: 09/02/2013 by AutoFreak (1 review written)

We have owned a Nilfisk for about 8 years and although it still goes well, it had seen better days cosmetically and the wheels were coming off so we decided to go for a new one. The wife always liked the look of Henry and when we researched it on the web, we seen fantastic reviews everywhere ! We bought Henry and from the start have hated everything about the little blitter ! The pipes and attachments are only held together by friction so they pop off so easy no matter how tight you put them… Read Full Review

Henry looks cute but I've been experiencing minor problems. He doesn't always start up and it has been difficult to clean my house. I've always usually been a huge fan of Henrys so potentially mine could be broken… Read Full Review

You've given poor Henry only THREE stars for something that's not his fault - other than old age perhaps and that is normally manifested by worn motor brushes or drying out bearings.

Henry performs well when fed an UNINTERRUPTED electricity supply, and if he doesn't always start, then there's an intermitttent break in that supply which could be a faulty wall socket, plug, fuse in the plug, lead, motor brushes......quite a number of things.

If you live in the Swansea area, you can bring dear Henry to me for an MOT and you'll only get charged if any parts have to be replaced.

“Tough, Reliable & Outstanding Performance”

Written on: 15/11/2012

I've recently tried a more domestically focussed machine and have been utterly dissapointed, having gotten used to the fantastic performance of my Henry. Needless to say I've since ditched the piece of c**p that cost me twice as much and have purchased another Henry. Just as good as the last one (which never even broke but was replaced as it looked a bit tired!) I'll be looking forward to another 20 years faithful service then!… Read Full Review

“fantastic top vacuum cleaner cant be beat”

Written on: 07/11/2012 by speedycat100 (2 reviews written)

my wife makes parts for this vacuum at protex redditch so we went and got one when we needed a new one . This cleaner is the best we have ever had ,well made strong and not to heavy. All the pipes fit together good but sometimes to good and have a bit of a tug of war to get apart. we have had this 2 years and still works well even when the bag is full the suction never gets any less has a boost button aswell but dont need much as its so good anyway. The wire goes inside nicely so dont keep… Read Full Review

“Junk”

Written on: 29/08/2012

Got this thing on amazon( we got "james"), it is nothing more than a shop vac with a bag, really. If you want to clean your house with a shop vac, got to the hardware store and get one cheaper than this. Its load and doesnt pick up much. The worst part is the main tube pieces of the vacuum only connect by friction, no clips or conenctors. This leaves the pieces coming apart as you operate the vacuum. Also the suction control is nothing more than a slide clip at the hose end of the vacuum. Poor… Read Full Review

I have to agree. I've had my Henry for three years now and after fighting with the connectors coming apart EVERY TIME, I talked with a representative by phone who promised to send me a set of new attachments suggesting that my particular ones were faulty. The promised replacement never arrived and I never followed back up. Instead, I went out and bought a Miele and after two years I'm still happy with the Miele. It is an upright vacuum with on board attachments.. it is easy to push and the attachments connect easily with a locking mechanism. It has great suck-up.

So yeah, I have to agree with you. The Henry is junk.

“Why did I not buy this before?”

Written on: 23/08/2012 by reviewkitten (295 reviews written)

When we moved into our new flat we couldn't afford an expensive vacuum cleaner so plumped for a cheapy from Asda. The thought was that we only had a couple of small rooms with carpet and the rest was laminate so it should do the job. How wrong we were. It was bloody awful, our lounge rug was never clean unless we got down on our hands and knees with the hose (very tedious). So in the end we got a Henry. The price wasn't too bad, only £60 more than the cheap one that eventually died on us. It… Read Full Review

“Worst purchase ever!”

Written on: 24/07/2012

We bought a basic Dyson back in the late 90's, and it was great despite months of DIY abuse (polyfiller dust, plaster, bricks, etc). Then we changed carpets and were advised that the brush would ruin the loop-pile and we needed a suction only cleaner. Research said "Henry" - what a mistake! Dyson, I emptied after every use. Henry, filled the house with stench of stale dust/dirt. Sorry, I'm not buying bags for every time I use it. Dyson was an upright, yet still had long enough hose to… Read Full Review

“The only Vacuum cleaner you will ever need!”

Written on: 05/07/2012 by LadyCrimsyn1986 (4 reviews written)

I started using Henry years ago when i used to be a cleaner in a nursing home, we had these a few months after i started working there and they were a huge improvement over the old one which was a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner that was useless, bulky, flimsy and all the attachments kept dropping off even though it wasn't that old. The Henry was so good I recommended it to my mom whose vacuum was on its way out, she ended up buying one and was equally impressed. That was 8 years ago! She still… Read Full Review

“Awesome vacuuming with a smile”

Written on: 22/04/2012 by spannerzone (7 reviews written)

Having wasted £100 on a bagless Electrolux which was the world's worst vacuum cleaner ever, it was a delight to get a Henry.... sure it's a bit cheesey but I still smile when I use it and the bag takes an age to fill.... and so much less messy than emptying a bagless cleaner into the dustbin. It's basic but pretty foolproof, it has good suction and moves around easily...the length of hose is good. The only minor gripe is the basic accessories but they're ok I guess....just a bit basic and… Read Full Review

“Henry has become one of the family”

Written on: 13/04/2012 by lisakash (2 reviews written)

I bought Henry after looking in Cyprus for a good vacuum cleaner and the prices were silly. I bought Henry online and had it delivered after reading all the reviews. Its great - powerful suction, it's bags are huge and you don't have to change every five minutes and they are cheap to replace. Long lead so I don't have to keep taking the plug out. All in all probably the best cleaner I've had and the best bit my 4 sons think Henry is cool and are happy to use him and hoover their… Read Full Review

“Don't buy a Henry vacuum!!!!”

Written on: 15/09/2011

I bought a Henry vacuum to replace our current Miele vacuum. The Miele is 7 yrs old, and although the motor is working fine, the door to it has come off and the attachments have been falling out - so I decided it was time for something different. I have affectionate memories of Henry, since the cleaners at my primary school used to use one and so he reminds me of my old school and my childhood. I read lots of reviews on Amazon and on here, and the vast majority of them were excellent, so I… Read Full Review

Firstly your theory that you need to \"ram the hose together\" is unnecessary and misleading! If you twist the poles into each other they fit easily and equally you can \"untwist\" them to seperate.
Your comment re: skirting boards etc and damaged paintwork is maybe because you have not found the plastic edging tool (as opposed to the brush) which is supplied with the hoover!!!!
The long hose is in my opinion an absolute godsend which allows me to hoover up the stairs, landing, hall and living/dining room without having to drag or carry a hoover body with me. (I live in an average sized home not large offices!)
Maybe you need to give this hoover a bit of time so you can adjust to its abilities!
