watch the interest that Capital One charge with balance transfers, as they deduct purchases before your balance transfer, so you will end up paying interest plus a 2% fee… Read Full Review

The Capital One Classic Credit Card proved to be good for me. My credit rating was absolutely shocking due to shear stupidity when I turned 18 and was like a kid in a sweet shop, my fault but mistakes I paid dearly for with my credit rating. Anyway, I applied for one of their Classic cards on the "we'll say yes if you do" scheme, where by as long as you are not bankrupt and are on the electoral register and not on a CIFAS fraud database, you are guaranteed to be accepted, but you may need to… Read Full Review

Capital One are very slow to apply payments to accounts, often needing 4 to 5 days to apply credit.
Statements are sent very close to the due payment date, so if you are away, the payment is often late, which is in their favour.
They do supply money back on some credit cards however… Read Full Review

Basically, I'm a US citizen and came to London to study. Since the exchange rate was so bad between 2003- present, I couldn't use my US credit card, and I needed to build credit to get a flat off campus.
Capital one and NatWest were the only ones to give me credit cards. Capital One has never charged me for being over the limit as long as it was paid off before the statement date. Whilst the interest rate is high and the limit is low, it has helped me build my credit and ended up being… Read Full Review

I paid all outstanding bills with Capital One every month, and always on time. They say it takes 5 working days to process, when it only takes three. One month I paid in more than they asked, so the card was over limit (in my favour). The next month they charged an extra £60 for a late payment and interest charges??… Read Full Review

Have had nothing but problems with the Capital One Classic Credit Card. When I originally set it up it took so long because there were all sorts of admin errors made on there part so ended up calling them many times to sort it out. Once I had the card it took ages to sort out the direct debit, they said it was set up and then the money didn't come out and they tried to charge me interest. It took about 4 months all in all to get everything running smoothly, and to top it all off customer… Read Full Review

In the years I spent at Uni I got myself in serious debt, and had many CCJ's and many visits from bailiffs etc. So my credit just didn't exist, even the high street banks wouldn't give me a current account, but capital one classic accepted me and even though there rates are on the high side they where very handy in repairing my credit, after only 7 months I was being offered credit cards from most other companies and was accepted by the ones that I decided to change to, this card is great for… Read Full Review

Customer service is awful - 90% of reps don't seem to speak clear English; I got charged a $25 over my limit fee due to being $.02 over my limit, which was caused by the interest being added on to my balance which would have been offset had they taken off the charge that I was disputing when they were supposed to. I contacted them and went up the chain of command, threatening to close the account because of this $25 charge, and they all waved goodbye - absolute horrible experience - wouldn't… Read Full Review

It is a card for the people whose credit rating is worse.
Even then, I got rejected twice or thrice for Capital One and immediately with in a couple of months or so I got accepted for Natwest Classic, Barclay Card and a Mint… Read Full Review

The Capital One Classic Credit Card card was a great way to build up credit. It had a higher interest rate but also had a grace period. Capital one was great the entire time I had this card and I eventually moved up to a platinum card… Read Full Review

The Capital One Classic Credit Card sounds like a good idea but you can soon learn that the opposite is true. Interest is really around 20% or more so your bill very soon increases even if you are trying hard to keep your bill down… Read Full Review

I have never been so annoyed with a company in my life. I foolishly applied for a capital one card and have had nothing but problems from late payment charges that were paid on time too customer service advisors that were rude and totally unhelpful. I am still having problems trying to close the account as they say I am in arrears from an account I paid off. They have now sent a letter from a debt recovery firm!!!!What ever you do leave this company well alone… Read Full Review

Do not, I say again, do not use capital one. In June of 2003 I transferred a balance to capital one at a FIXED-RATE of 6.99%. In March of 2004 I noticed the rate for the transfer portion of my balance had jumped from 6.99 to 10.99% with no notification. After reviewing previous statements I found that the actual hike in the %rate had occurred back in October of 2003.
I made a call to capital one, spoke with a customer service advisor. The advisor assures me it was their computer's mistake… Read Full Review

I recently applied to take care of £2000 balance transfer from another lender, but I was given an initial £200 credit limit, which would not be reviewed for 7 months, by which time the interest rate would be higher than my current lender. As the whole process took around a month, this was a huge waste of time!… Read Full Review

First of all, if you require a credit card and have poor credit then by all means try the Capital One credit card. If you run into any financial difficulties, however, be prepared to pay extra for the delay in payments. They do use legal force and are reluctant to communicate through the telephone. They let their summons do their job… Read Full Review

Being disabled and un-able to work credit was always almost impossible to get. However after I applied and was given a Capital One card about 6 years ago, it made getting credit from other sources a lot easier, so for people like me its a god-send. The down side is the £18 yearly fee and the high interest rate, but you could use it as a stepping stone to getting other credit. Ive always found customer services polite and helpful… Read Full Review

The Capital One Classic Card card is very easy to obtain, even if you have bad credit. They sting you with charges, the customer services are rude and have no clue.
This has happened a few times to me, where They never sent me a statement, but charged me £20.00 for late payment. I phoned them and they wouldn't even send me a copy of the statement. It's even hard to change your address, do it by letter, they say do it by phone. Do it by phone they say do it by letter. They seem to wait… Read Full Review

Avoid Capital One The application forms state NO annual fees or NO membership fees. Shortly after receiving the card I get an item on the bill ($59.00 Annual Fee). I call to tell them of their error and that I do not want a card with fees. They waive the fee. Some months later the $59.00 fee appears again on the billing. When I call to CANCEL I am told that to cancel the card I must pay off all fees and have a 0 balance even though I never intended to get a card with fees they want me to… Read Full Review
