I have had this card for three months now, and do almost all transactions online and have never had to call customer service. The only downside is my very low limit of £200. I hope that as my credit score improves I will get a lower rate or else move elsewhere… Read Full Review

I have been with Capital One since soon after first came to this country. I have a £4,000 limit which has never changed in many many years. I have for many years always paid of the full balance and only keep the card because it gives a cashback bonus every year and has no annual fee. Customer service is terrible, they have made a number of mistakes over the years and the language barrier is a real problem in trying to get anything resolved, English is not the first language of most of their… Read Full Review

Got this card close to six month's ago, I had applied previously and been refused, but once accepted I was given a limit of £200. The limit is perfect for me for any emergencys, the card arrived very quick and was easy to set up. The online is also useful to view old statements, make payments and contact an advisor to a query. There standard APR is 34.9% but mine is 30%. I was told in alot of reviews that the limit would go up after around four months but this didn't happen for me, but… Read Full Review

AAfter being a stupid student, running up big overdrafts i couldn't payback which got sent on to the collectors, my credit rating was incredibly poor. I could only get a LloydsTSB cash account, not a good place to be. I applied for this card, got a £200 spending limit, paid for my fuel on it every month, paid it off in full every payday. Since then i have been upgraded with Lloyds TSB to a silver account, and Capital One have offered to increase my limit - Biut Please, only do this if you… Read Full Review

We have had our Capitalone card for over 7 years now, only because we get annual cashback. I email each year when we go on holiday and last year they told me "we don't need to know". This year we rang, they took details and now we are temporarily blocked!!!! Apparently if you use this card in a garage for petrol as we did, especially in USA, they block all subsequent transactions, a waiter at the restaurant we were eating at told us this when we presented the card. They knew we were in the… Read Full Review

The customer service with company is terrible. I had problems meeting a payment and called to advise what had happened and when I would pay them. It was over a small ammount and only a few days late. They were not helpful and just kept repeating what payment I had to make and could I make it now - despite me telling them I didnt have the money ! The worst thing about this company is they will telephone you all day, Sundays included and late into the evening asking for money even if you have… Read Full Review

I had a Capital One Credit card sometime ago, but unfortunately over this time i had some financial difficulties. Capital One company did not offer any constructive advice or support, and just kept demanding money. Whereas other companies did their best to offer advice and good support.
Capital One advertise it will improve your credit rating, what nonsense i'm still waiting to see how this happens. Thankfully for me i settled and closed account, a huge relief… Read Full Review

I had a Capital One credit card for a few years, and unfortunately then experienced a few financial difficulties. of which Capital One did not give a stuff about, demanding letters and quite nasty phone calls. A complete lack of compassion of my circumstances.
I have now paid off my account in full and closed account, when i closed account i requested that a letter to confirm all monies paid. But many weeks later i'm still waiting for my letter. I dont suppose i will ever receive the letter… Read Full Review

As long as you pay back your balance on time each month it doesn't cost you a penny :)
I am suprised by the low limits given to previous reveiwers,as this is my first ever credit card and i have been given 1,000 :)
I would reccomend this card to anyone :)… Read Full Review

Be wary of a card that is offered to you to repair your credit rating. Its not some kind of social kindness, they want to make money off you like anyone else.
These cards are what you get if you are at the very bottom rung of the credit ladder. Its not a bad card, as long as you repay it properly, on time. And thats the bottom line really, only you can repair your credit rating, not the card… Read Full Review

Good customer service first class website high interest rate no prob if you pay off every month.
Recent problems after card identified as "one of a number" with potential security risk. New card issued, large clear balance.....£9 routine transaction declined!
Getting to the bottom of this has proved so difficult I've put in a complaint.
Been with them for some time, but now losing confidence in their counterproductive security measures.

While I understand that the interest rate increases with the perceived risk of the customer, this American company is simply a leach on poor people. Customer service is unfriendly and unhelpful, their online account management is confusing and slow and the product rates are usurious… Read Full Review

I started using the card two months back. I came to this country last year and I had two cards back home. I tried to get a card as soon as I came with capital one and Vanquis but I got rejected and I found out that we have to register to vote and I did that a couple of months ago and I saw my credit report and the credit score 397 and the electoral register was confirmed with my address and I applied for vanquis an capital one on the same day. yet I misspelled my name. yet they both offered me… Read Full Review

''Rubbish'' would be the right word for the system they use. Even if you pay our bill on due date, their'system'' updates it after 48 hours amusing you payed 2 days later than your due date. there could be one out of two reasons of this;
1. they are still living in 18th century
2. they have deliberately designed this'system'' to rob their customers… Read Full Review

Having had a problem with credit and finance in general in the past I took out a Capital One Classic card last year to try and help get my 'rating' back to a more standard level.
This card is ideal if you have a poor credit history (although some people may still be declined) and it gave me the incentive to pay items on it and pay them off in full at the end of the month, thus avoiding interest (my APR was 34.9% typical variable.)
One downside was the otherwise excellent fraud monitoring… Read Full Review

I started with a credit limit of £500. I had a Lloyds Credit card already. I always paid the balance in full. On my 4th statement, my limit jumped to £1000, which is really good and helpful. Not sure about customer service because I never really had to call them about anything. Overall, good card. APR is ofcourse high because this is a card for starters, but I'm not too bothered because I normally pay back the owed balance within the interest free period. Cheers… Read Full Review

The people @ the end of the phone are all very informed and can't do enough for you. They have always been able to resolve a situation for me or answer a query where needed.
They got in contact with me each time I purchased something that they considered above average for my account,(3 plane tickets to the U.S.,etc),and it made me feel secure that they are looking after my interests regularly.
Maybe they could put some sort of loyalty scheme in place! It would be an idea!… Read Full Review

Well I've been with Capital One for over 12 Months, had poor/no history for a long time, but started with £500, and it's still the same. Paid it off a few times, never missed a minimum payment, mostly paid more than minimum. My ex-girlfriend started with £100 and got increased twice, now upto £1,200, yet I earn much more than her, and she has never paid hers off, go figure!!!
It has helped me get two other credit cards though, with my bank Natwest and with Santander, with much better terms… Read Full Review
