Written on: 11/06/2003 by PaulW. (1 review written)

I'm a Nokia fan and tend to stick to their phones but in the spare of the moment I was attracted to this phone. I've had my GX10 for 5 month now and I must say, despite its sleek looks it does lack functionality. Saving txt messages to the sim limits you to about 14 messages regardless of folder or settings. And there is no data management for Phone-Phone or Phone-PC. The predictive txt is slow in responding and is knows to skip key presses and it has a limited personal dictionary function. As… Read Full Review

I totally agree with you my friend. The best thing in this mobile is the size and quality of photos you can take especially comparing with Panasonic GD87.
<br> Advantages
<br>Nice colours and sounds
<br>Nice menus
<br> Disadvantages(All of them Very Important !!)
<br>No communication with computers
<br>No support from the company
<br>No directory managment

I would like to see SHARP provide software upgrades for this phone, they could surely improve this phone without the need to replace it.

The review is some what correct. But i do disagree on the receiving a text to notify you on credit left on you phone. This is usualy done by sim card you have on your phone. SIM2 is the updated sim card.
<br>The GX10 is the best iv used. Ofcourse you cant send PXT to other phone not capable with PXT. But you can send PXT to any phone (as long its network is capable) and it can be viewed on the vodafone website.

I debated this one against the Samsung equivalent but the Vodafone deal was too good to miss. I am thrilled with the phone and all my reservations have gone out of the window! Little poorer reception than my last Nokia 6110 but still perfectly OK. I dont think anyone will be disappointed. Reviews mentioning the 'busy' menus I can't agree with...its great… Read Full Review

Written on: 20/04/2003 by Spartacus. (1 review written)

If you're going after one of the new phones - GX10/GD87, I would defo go after the GD87. Pic quality is a million times better. Only drawback are that it doesn't have java so games are limited - if you use it for games this will be a big problem for you.
However, it is much easier to use, better software and graphics. The menus are far easier to navigate.
Besides, its smaller than the GX10, better build quality, lighter,...etc Far superior.
I have tried both - believe me, if your shelling out… Read Full Review

The Sharp GX10 gives me so much pleasure!!! I am addicted to it. It's so easy to use, I mean the menu. The ringtones are just perfect, polyphonic tones, as you already know I think. It has a satisfying click when opening and closing the flip (I'm from Holland so don't mind my english writing). My girlfriend bought the same phone at the same time/place. MMS is just so much fun!!! I had a choice between the GX10 and the GD87. I chose the GX10 glad i did, i really do think it is a good phone, very nice polyphonic ringtones, the best screen i have ever seen, and java game support something that the GD87 dosen't have. On the other hand the GD87 has lots of better features that interest me such as chosing the backlit screen colour, it is also smaller and lighter than the gx10 though i don't think it looks as stylish. This is the phone the nation has been waiting for. Its small, although not too small to be fiddly, light, feels good in your hand and has a great camera. Battery life is good too for a big colour screen phone, and above all as far as i am concerned, you can hear it ring, unlike a lot of polyfonic handsets that are far too quiet, this one WILL be noticed. it should be on nearly everyones wish list… Read Full Review

this review is very bad. it says how the samsung is slimmer and better designed but it does not have a camera so it would be slimmer. the samsung also has a poorer screen display so i'm not too sure what you are going on about! if you are going to write a review make sure you know what you are going on about!

I think the vodaphone Gx50 is fab, what more can you ask for!!!!!! I think it's total rubbish saying that it isn't sexy and stylish because it has a camera built in it and the camera is very good technology to be able to fit into a mobile. I want a GX50 cos my friend has got 1 and they are brilliant phones and people moanin about the quality of pics should be grateful they have a phone with a camera in it! Does any one want to give me advise which camera phone to choose and please don't say the most stylish

86983_Rc.'s Response to RC.'s Review

Written on: 07/04/2003

Listen to me Mark, I've owned and tested both these and many other phones so I know what Im talking about. the T100 is way more stylish but needs a camera. Samsung are releasing a new 65k col camera phone with rotating lens which is slimmer than the chunky GX10. Even the poorer Panasonic GD87 is slimmer. just because a mobile has a built in camera doesnt mean it HAS to be chunky. The screens on all three are of equal vibrancy and good quality with either 4096 or 65k colour and similar sizes. Photos with this phone are still poor compared to the low priced sony A300 - even that can manage VGA resolution which is what you will get on a cheap keyring camera now.
<br>
<br>My advice to anyone looking for a 2.5G flip camera phone would be to test the GX10 for yourself against the GD87, the new Samsung or better still NEC 606 if you want to move up to 3G early.
<br>
<br>If you can't wait then as I said the GX10 isnt a bad phone, just could be better - namely slimmer, more ergonomically designed , better battery , better UI, voice recognition and have proper reminders like every other phone.
<br>
<br>Personally I'm gonna dump it and try the NEC606e
<br>

To download the ringtones ileagally off the internet, just to "tx1.com" (on your pc), go to "poly tones" and search for a tone you want (search for the tone in the "NOKIA 7650" section) right click on "prieview" then click on "open in new window". copy the address shown at the address bar in your gx10 then click "go", it will appear on the screen and you will hear it on your phone.
<br> then download it, if you dont know how to download it from there (when you can hear it in your phone) look in the gx10 manual.
<br> don't tell anyone that works at "tx1.com", even though everyone on the internet can view this, ;-)

I was undecided whether or not to get a Sharp GX10 for about a month, i could not choose between this and the Panasonic GD87 so i tossed a coin. I was wary at first of the phone as it had some bad reviews however i was pleasently surprised with phone. The phone was not as heavy as i expected, the phone may be on the bulky side but it still looks good. Opening and closing the flip gives you satisfying click. If you mean unlock it so that it can be used on any Network, I've heard that it's not possible with this phone. I had wanted mine unlocked for use on O2. Carphone Warehouse (who are not biased to Vodafone) said that not only was it not currently possible, but even if you could your use of the phone would be restriced, i.e. no Vodafone Live etc.
