I thoroughly enjoyed this book! We had read the characters growing from young children to adults and, as a result felt we knew them well and felt very personal to them. I recommended this to anyone above the age of thirteen!… Read Full Review

An excellent book that prompts many debates about what would happen if black and white sins were reversed. good points about racial segregation and raises important issues about our heritage Its good how the author, Malorie Blackman, uses an almost diary extract, or running thoughts as a commentary. It lets you into secrets and thoughts that only the character can explain… Read Full Review

The whole story was fantastic. I found myself lost in this book looking forward to an amazing but at the same time, not wanting it to end. The characters were amazingly well-thoughout and lovable. Sephy's youthfulness and Callum's loving attitude made it impossible to not be enchanted! This book still leaves me emotional at the end and I've read it twice... so far! Stunning. Loved it!… Read Full Review

I loved this book, it was emotional, gripping and i couldn't put it down. The book was recommended to be by a friend, and now I'm going to watch the play in Stratford! The book shows a good example of honesty and breaks the whole 'happily ever after' rule. The book is very well written, and shows the reader how two people can experience an event so differently. This is one of the only books that I actually could picture the character and feel their emotions. The book helped me realise how much… Read Full Review

Malorie Blackman, Noughts and Crosses story turns the whole world upside-down so that the white people are considered to be inferior to th black people. The story is a bit obvious once you know that it is about racism - two people become friends but they are from different races… Read Full Review

Overall I am glad that my English teacher introduced us to the Noughts and Crosses trilogy as I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I'm going to be watching the performance in a visit to the Globe theater with my school. Its an amazing book. I'd recommend it to anyone although I do feel that it isn't suitable for younger readers even though I myself am 15… Read Full Review

It's one of those books that I wish would just go on and on. I would love for more sequels to come out but the ending the way it is seems to make the book what it is. A great read that can be read over and over… Read Full Review

Written on: 21/12/2006 by 06freddiefollower (1 review written)

This novel is the best I have ever read. It is incredibly well-plotted and written and although it is depressing, disturbing and sad, it always makes me want to go back to it. Blackman has her own past experiences to write from and so writes the racial segregation from her scars. She gives us the story from both sides of the same world - on the inside and on the outside - which has great effects to the story. But to be honest, I never would have read it if my cousin hadn't ranted and raved… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/12/2006 by hotlottie13 (1 review written)

This is the first in the Noughts and crosses trilogy, and it's guaranteed to grab the attention of any teenager or adult. This tantalising tale will instantly flip your world upside down.

Malorie Blackman is lovable in different ways. In the book we become attached and intrigued by the friendship between Stephy (a cross) and Callum (a nought), in a Romeo and Juliet style story. Stephy's mother (Jasmine) fired Callum's mum (Meggie) for not saying the right thing to Stephy's farther. In two… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/10/2006 by Miley (1 review written)

It is a great book, which shows the emotional stress of being a teenager. It is full of trust, betrayal and love. It's a great book for young adults!

It is emotionally disturbing at some points, and it may scare younger children, as there is a little violence and lots of swearing as well, but Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman is a good book! I thought that it looked too much like Romeo and Juliet at first, but it is a great book! It is slightly racist, except it's the white people that… Read Full Review

It is about society today. Malorie Blackman has taken society and turned it upside down. Noughts and Crosses is gripping and a good read.

Written on: 06/07/2006 by Jasu (1 review written)

The book is centered around two individuals, Sephy (a cross) and callum (a nought) and focuses on the hardships they face in surviving and maintaining a relationship with each other that is considered unorthodox by those all around them. What makes noughts and crosses so brilliant is that, although it is set un an alternative universe it addresses real-life, hard-hitting, modern issues, such as racial discrimination and political terrorism and lingers long in the mind after it has been read… Read Full Review

Noughts and Crosses is a fantastic book that, once started cannot be put down. Mallory Blackman flawlessly creates a stunning plot, and unrivaled empathy with the characters, using an unusual, but fantastic layout of the book, swapping between the two main characters, Callum and Sephy with each chapter… Read Full Review
