I have hired cars before in Spain and I would have to say that Drivalia have been the best so far. The whole process from booking the car on line, the collection at the airport, getting the car and arriving back at the office and airport was so smooth and quick. “No refund on fuel”

Booked car via DYS with a fuel policy of Full/Empty refund unused. Never received a refund despite half tank left. DYS says contact them direct. Its hassle I don't need, they didn't honour the agreement. Wont use again. Poor. Price of car was good but without refund not as good as many… Read Full Review

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We offer both full to empty and full to full fuel policies and in general with full to empty there is no refund. Sometimes bookings come with the option of arefund (minus an admin fee) and if this is the case and stated in your booking confirmation then of course this is something that we offer.

The information passed on by your agency is indeed correct and you do need to request the refund for it to take place. If you email us we will calculate the amount of fuel in the tank according to our records when you returned and inform you of any refund due if applicable.

We never avoid refinding anything that is due to a client but as your agency said you need to request this for it to take place.

Again as I stated I shouldn't need to apply for the refund it should be automatically done as with other rental firms I have used. I no longer have booking details as it was back in March.

“hassel free car rental”

Upon arrival we were directed and met straight away and taken to rental place, when we got there I asked if we could upgrade to a slightly bigger car, this was no problem and the car we were offered was automatic which I am not confident so they said they had the same car in a manual but needed to be cleaned which they offered to do there and then!! “Trick you to double the insurance”

With already paid insurance they tricket us to pay for an exstra superduper insurance. They told that the insurance I already paid for isn't cover it all. We have to make sure that customers understand their responsibilities under the contract especially if they book on a low cost package which often means there are certain things excluded from the cover that comes with the car.

If you have cover with another company then this is not anything to do with us and in these cases we have to point out what you are responsible for with us and of course you are welcome to verify the level of cover you have elsewhere. Our cover is always optional but offers advantages over other types of cover not only in terms of peace of mind but also convenience.

Most clients now book with us on our Ultimate rate as this has been designed to offer everything all in one rate with complete peace of mind and no surprises.

“Best Hire Car Experience in Alicante Airport”

Having travelled regularly to Spain over the last 8 years, we have used most of the hire car firms at Alicante Airport. Initially we were not keen to use any "off-site" companies, but after using Drivalia for the second time this year, we can highly recommend Drivalia. Very happy with customer service. Professional, helpful and friendly. Excellent condition of the vehicle, perfect to drive. All as described. Shuttle bus service to the highest standard. Wasn't too happy with fuel charge. 80€ for the full tank was way too much but on the other hand I didn't choose the "empty tank" option when booking the car. This year we used Drivalia for the first time. renting a car abroad Always comes with some stress; will i really get the car i reserved, is this company trusworthy, etc. i am very happy with Drivalia. everything went as expected (hoped for..). “Insurance policy suck!”

The insurance policy of the company is terrible and a ripp off metode. The staff is not very friendly and you have to search the car body with magnifying glass for unvisible scratches wich they will claim that was not there before you return the car. This is particulary required if you do not buy their ripp-off additional insurance at the desk which is more expencive than the rental itself. At Drivalia we pride ourselves on offering what is arguably the most honest and transparent car hire in the area and most of our customers book our "Ultimate" package which includes full cover and no deposit. However we do also have low cost packages as some customers do genuinley want to book a car for the lowest possible cost.

Our website makes very clear the fact that if you choose the lowest cost option then clearly you don´t have the same benefits of the all-inclusive options and the insurance cover is nowhere near as comprehensive. For this reason if a customer books through a third party we have a duty to ensure that the customer is aware of their selected package and what is (or is not) included.

We inspect every car when it is returned and unlike most rental companies who operate a "drop box" system, we inspect the cars with the client present in order to offer complete peace of mind to our clients. We inspect cars regardless of whether the client has full cover with us or not and we note all damages simply because we have a duty to the next customer to provide a car with an accurate record of the condition of the car.

If a client has chosen our basic package then it is explained to them that they have responsibility for any damages. We certainly do not look for "invisible" damages, we simply record all damages. The job of our staff is to record all damage on all cars regardless of the package the customer has or the level of cover. Clearly if a new damage is noted and the customer has not selected the peace of mind that our cover offers then the customer will be asked to pay for that damage.

At Drivalia our customers enjoy one of the youngest and most frequently replaced fleets in the area. We take a great pride in the condition of our cars and we have become known for the high standards that we deliver. To keep the cars in such a condition we must repair damages.If there is no cover in place to pay for these damages then the person who caused the damage must clearly pay for it. Keeping cars in good condition is not only of paramount importance for our customers experience but also in order to keep the value of the cars as high as possible so that we are able to replace cars so frequently and keep the same fair and honest prices that we have become famous for.

All of our customers who book on our webite see clearly the options and of course can make a choice. Whilst most choose to select our cover or our all-inclusive "Ultimate" package for complete peace of mind, some of course prefer to assume the risk of any damages and enjoy a very low cost car rental.

For the peace of mind of all customers we remind clients again that if a damage is to be charged then it is shown to the client. Clients are given a comprehensive damage report and we also have ample flood-lit inspection zones in our car park (we are not in a multi-story tight spaced car park like many companies in the terminal) where they can inspect the car to ensure they agree with the condition prior to leaving.

We hope this clarifies how we, as a company operate and reflects the fairness that e strive to deliver.

From the airport pick up to the drop off, the experience with Drivalia was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful giving directions, and keeping you informed of what was happening. We paid for everything up front which was a very competitive price, and got a great car. This made everything quick as there was no extra's or deposits to sort out. “Brilliant Service as usual”

we have been hiring cars abroad for 30 years & have some bad ones but, this time we tried Drivalia & were very pleased! Apart from not being able to see where to pick up Shuttle at Palma the service was quick, from beginning to end. We've spent many happy hours queuing at hot airports and then having to go & find the car in the Airport car park! On arrival after not have slept for 24 hours... The staff of car rental were very hard going that have to buy an expensive insurace for the car. Whe you are really tired and just want to go to your hotel it' easy to say yes just to make them shut up. After that we payed over 120 euros just for the fuel. Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We do offer both full to empty and full to full fuel rates but if you paid for fuel it would have been the full to empty rate that you booked. Our website lists all of our fuel prices from the small groups through to the larger ones but if you book direct many people find the full to full rate more economical.

It is never our intention for customers to feel under any pressure regarding coverage but we do obviously have to ensure that customers understand their contract and responsibilities, especially if they book on a low cost package which sometimes have only the minimal insurance included. There is a fine line between ensuring the customer understands their contract and making them and if you feel that you were pressurised then we do apologise. As you will read from many other comments this is certainly not what we set out to achieve.

At arrival at the airport there was no waiting time for the shuttle bus. The driver was very helpful. Upon arrival at the rental facility the staff was friendly and helpful to. The Drivalia Car Rental experience was good -the hire was easy and efficient. We were offered a choice of return full or empty - with hindsight we made the wrong choice and chose to return empty (impossible of course) which resulted in paying a premium rate when compared with current Spanish pump prices. The full to empty tarif is associated usually with our lowest cost rentals as we do apply a discount to the car which compensates for the fuel prices as much as we can (it´s difficult to compete on fuel as we have a lot of expenses in operating pumps and staff etc).

As you mention we offer our customers a choice of both full to full and full to empty and overall for many customers the full to full rate can work out the best option!
