“Great rental experience”

I was impressed by service we received - the lack of a queue picking up the vehicle and the helpfulness when we unfortunately had our car broken into. A new car was ready and waiting, the bill arranged in advance, and it meant we could continue our holiday with minimum disruption. Completely different experience from other car rentals in spain, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Non of the usual scare mongering you get around insurance as long as you haven't used one of these stupid brokers and explained everything very well. Car was excellent and shuttle drivers really good. If your UK citizen and sick of feeling fuddled and confused with Spanish rentals use these guys. Couldn't recommend highly enough… Read Full Review

Highly recommended car rental with Drivalia! The entire process was fast, efficient and the car was brand new. I was not sure about using an off airport car rental but would never use on site again! Instructions given of where to meet the free transfer was clear and easily found. 2 minute wait for transfer minibus, and 5 minute drive to the office. “Very High Risk”

On the plus side - the rental was approximately the price booked, although on DoYouSpain I was told that remaining petrol would be refunded on returning the car, in the office when collecting the car I was told it wouldn't be. The big problem for me was with the terms and conditions and the way the lady in the office tried to scare us into taking out extra insurance. Easy collection from the airport, simple paperwork exercise to get the car. I would have gone for the extra insurance had it not been so expensive, I think €16.50 a dat my is a bit excessive. Car was spotless, aircon worked really well. Could have helped install baby's eat as that was really tricky. Handover and lift back to the airport at the end also A1. I would have liked a slightly nicer car for the money, €350 for a boring Fiat Doblo. Thank you. You could do a lot worse than use these… Read Full Review

Thanks for your custom and review, it´s nice to know that you had a good experience with us.

You may like to know that we have a tarif called Ultimate which is FULL FULL and fully insured with no excess and although the base price is a little higher than some of the low cost deals out there it is generally cheaper than a low cost deal then adding on the additional cover. It offers complete peace of mind and what is arguably the most honest and transparent pricing in town!

We are always happy to offer advice on fitting baby seats, just ask a member of the team although for safety reasons we cannot fit them for you - this has to be the responsibility of the client incase anything should happen.

In the group you booked we have Doblos and Berlingos which are of course cars based on the design of a small van. They are very popular for certain applications but of course this is a specific group of car usually chosen by people who specifically want this style. Waited 5 mins for courtesy bus, picked car up within 5 mins of arriving at drivalia and was quickly on our way. Was good to have english speaking staff, really helpful when I phoned. “Drivalia car rental Alicante airport”

Customer service is very poor especially if you decline the excess insurance deal offered. I did as I have my own excess policy, they asked me who I was insured with which is odd as I have been renting cars from Alicante airport for many years and have never been asked this question before,however it became apparent when I returned the car. Dear Customer,

Thank you for your comments. We check cars very accurately and as you will know we provide all clients (who choose the basic package and opt to not take our cover) with a comprehensive damage report which also states the types and sizes of damages that are chargeable. This is done for the protection of both us and our clients because for us whilst it is important that new damages are charged (in order to keep our prices as competative as they are) it is also very important that nobody is charged for anything they have not done.

When a client takes a car they are given a copy of this report and asked to sign it, inspect the car and satisfy themselves as to the condition of the car prior to leaving.

All damages are logged in our system and checked at various stages between rentals. Likewise new damages are photographed in order to ensure that anything listed is clearly accurately recorded.

If is due to this comprehensive checking process that if our team see a new damage we have to take a little time to verify the damages are new by looking at the logs, descriptions and if applicable the photos but you can be assured that if we charge a damage it is indeed accurate that it is new.

We are sorry if you are unhappy with the service but I hope that this explanation reassured you somewhat as to the levels that we go to in order to be sure our records are accurate and our clients are protected.

If charges for damage are made or customers taking your excess insurance , why do you not repair the vehicles but continue to rent damaged vehicles.
My insurance company have requested an invoice as proof of repair tothe car, where can i get a copy of the invoice

Dear Customer,

I can´t comment on yoru individual case because our office team need to look at your personal booking and you can email them for a personal reply but I would like to answer your point.

The demand for low cost car hire means that we simply cannot afford to repair every minor damage when it happens. Every time a repair is carried out we have to take the car out of service which means that we loose money. This would result in car hire prices being increased for everyone. This is the same at every car hire company.

Therefore, if there are minor damages (small scratches etc) we often repair them either in batches when there are several or prior to the resale of the car.

If a damage is severe and either has cosmetic damage that looks bad or has been in an accident and there is any doubt about the safety of the car then of course it is immediately paralised and sent for inspection and repair but if the damage is very small then it would be silly to go to this cost and pass this cost onto a client when it makes more sense to repair later.

We charge for damages if you book our Basic package with no insurance from us but this does not mean we have to repair immediately each damage. Rest assured however that we do have to stand the cost of every damage which is why we charge the client.

In some cases when a car is leased we may not repair but instead pay a fine to the lease company and actually the charges they pass on to us are genrally higher than what we charge to clients.

For the reasons mentioned above we are unable to provide garage repair bills but we do provide of course an invoice from ourselves for clients which I am sure you will have.

It is not just us but almost every car hire company that works like this but we see a lot of cases of clients sustaining damages and then insurance companies requesting documents which we simply cannot provide. This is one reason why we recommend our cover because it means you are never liable.

If your car was badly damaged in an accident and was paralised and repaired we can request a bill from the garage but if the damage is minor we cannot provide this for the reasons mentioned.

“Our second time of renting”

This is our second time of renting and both have been great experiences and particularly the second time as they have all the details from the previous rental so was super quick. We had always rented at the airport previously because of the horror stories of "of airport" renters but we have never had any problems with Drivalia and particularly the shuttle bus and rental desk staff are very helpful.
