“Big Con!! I lost £450”

I booked a 5 night stay to commence on the 27th July 2017 at City Gardens Hotel, Budapest. When checking in was told that the booking had been cancelled and there were no available rooms. City Gardens then located another hotel which was significantly down graded than the one booked but had a bed in. After 1 nights stay in a dirty and dangerous room (not a luxury studio apartment which was booked and paid for) we have been told that the service provider (hotel travel) had not paid any money for the accommodation and would therefore be cancelling the booking. We were then told to pay 170 euros for the stay at the relocated hotel. I have tried contacting hoteltravel.com through email, phone and social media several times but despite having an initial response I am yet to have a response. As I paid through paypal I thought this was a safe way to complete the transaction but because Hoteltravel.com take payment at time of booking and not at the time of the stay no money could be recovered. I am thoroughly disappointed and disheartened that my husbands 30th Birthday Present was ruined and cost a lot more than budgeted for.

“Hidden FEES”

They quote you a price you agree They take the credit card for the correct amount But later on they surcharge the credit card for a small "International Fee" without approval. I am not happy with another "asteric compoany" of hidden fees.

“NO PROBLEMS with HotelTravel.com reservations”

I had no problems whatsoever with booking a room in March 2016, for travel in September 2016 to Reykjavik, Iceland. Three weeks prior to departure, the hotel directly confirmed my reservation, the room type, my name & the price. I found the pricing on the Trivago.com website, and HotelTravel.com was the booking agent. I could log into their site & see my reservation information at any time. I have no idea why so many people think they've been ripped off by HotelTravel.com!?

“deception”

thes the worst site can be dealt with it they puts a very low price and after booking and deducted amount from my card, they tell my the rooms were not available and they offer my other options very expensive Do not be fooled by the price you get from this site

“very disappointed ”

Booked a hotel with this company for 2 adults and 2 children. It was quite an upmarket hotel so was excited. On arriving at hotel we were placed in a box room with 1 bed. I emailed the company who informed me i hadn't ordered a cot for my baby. There was no option for this but I asked about my 11 year old daughter. The company then changed their minds saying I'd just ordered a cot and no bed. I hadn't done any of this, I just booked a family room. I emailed them once again and they informed me in their small print they can't guarantee the room we book and that some hotels don't give extra beds to children up to the age of 12. For the price I paid it was definitely not worth using this company. We wouldn't of stayed but couldn't get a refund as we'd gone through thus company as apposed to directly through the hotel. The company didn't seem to want to help.

“Bad very bad company you have been warned....”

I'm sorry to say this company is awful. I had such a bad experience with them. I purchased a hotel, submitted my card details then they said they can't proceed hotel cancelled. Frustrating but ok, I moved to a different provider and booked my hotel. Then 2 hours later I had an email saying my hotel was booked through hotel travel.com? Very very frustrating. I cancelled my last hotel luckily without charges, I told hotel travel, 5 days later they cancelled my booking without asking me? By this point they the room increased price by £60. They admitted fault at first but would not pay the increased hotel amount. This company is based in Thailand, there is no customer service, you have no grounds to fight this company in any way shape or form! Do not book a hotel through this company!!!! Use any other, my experience was the worst in my on line shipping life.

Upon investigating this matter both internally, as well as with our business partner, we found that there was a technical error and connectivity issue with the business partner's server for the bookings you submitted on 2 December 2015.

The error was a temporary situation which occurred as a result of either a maintenance program currently running on the business partner's server or a breakdown in Internet connectivity.

Nevertheless, our Customer Service Team was able to confirm your reservation two hours after your booking was submitted and subsequently sent confirmation, as well as voucher emails to you. “Worst experience of my life.”

I was given false information about the hotel i was staying at by HotelTravel. I emailed this concern to hotel travel.com and was given an inappropriate response. HotelTravel.com completely ruined my stay. If you advertise a luxury hotel which we were paying in excessive of $350 a night for you should also not advertise facilities that are not accessible to guests without excessive fees. I feel a pool and a gym are a basic part of staying in a 5 star hotel. I live in a hotel and we have access to both these facilities as do the guests that stay. We were asked to bay $120 to use the gym and pool. Disgusting.

Upon further investigation, the gym and fitness facilities are not included in any booking and are run on a membership/pay as you go basis.

Of course they do.
I travel very frequently interstate and overseas, and if our agent doesn't book for us, we book online. This is the first time I have ever come across this problem and it is obvious a fault of your site. Every decent booking site knows and discloses this information.

My personal recommendation would be to use bookings.com or agoda who have always gone out of their way to provide a fantastic service if you run into trouble and always disclose extra costs.

DO NOT USE HOTELTRAVEL - first and last time for me.

Hotel Travel provides a wider choice of hotels especially in less known off the beat destinations.Their Chat Service is very helpful in sorting out difficulties but you may have to wait a while to get an adviser Web bookings are easy to follow and the confirmation response is quick. I found the whole process of booking with the Hotel Travel fairly stress free. I also like their Members area/personal account where you can track/change your bookings.

In addition, the hotel's website claimed that there were no rooms available for my dates so I thought I may have been the victim of mischief. One week after the booking I emailed the hotel directly with the hoteltravel.com voucher attached and the hotel confirmed the reservation for two rooms. Therefore, I am very happy with hoteltravel.com service and price.

I have Booked “Hotel room price 126€ including breakfast” twice (for 2 rooms 4 Person+1 kid) and paid for two rooms at 20:05 (UTC+2). Received confirmation for 1st room without breakfast and info: the condition with “including breakfast” has been changed. Then the 1st room was confirmed without breakfast but same price. The 2nd room was returned "fully booked", please take another deal. I went back to the site, the 126€+ breakfast was now show as 126€ but breakfast no longer can be applied. Reload site, 126€ was gone. It shows 156€ with breakfast, booked and paid. Received email after a while, "room was fully booked". Back to the site, 156€ room was still there. So I booked one room here and cannot cancel it, the second room cannot be booked since it is always “available for your choice” but "fully booked". Now I have 3 SMS told me I have been charged on my credit card 126+126+156, and I am not sure whether I should book the 2nd room again or from other site. Called all 4 service number in UK and so on, no one answer the phone (no other working hours printed but English service is 24/7). Live-chat asked me to fill in name and issue, click on “submit”, live-chat window close itself... Service replied my email when they go to office, but they do not believe "the breakfast was included". Service was kind but didn't help. Having not screenshot, I gave up after several email-rounds. Happy ending was, I booked another room via other site and added breakfast 19€ per person per night at hotel.

Unfortunately, in the case of your second booking, while the hotel still showed rates available via our site, when we sent the request for confirmation the hotel replied that the room was actually no longer available. As a result, we were not able to confirm the room for you. The rate may have still shown available for some time after as it can take some time for the allotments to be closed and site updated and we do apologise for this.

For non-refundable bookings or bookings which are placed within 7 days of the cancellation due date, our system triggers a pre-authorisation of the credit card to assist with processing a booking quicker. For your two bookings which could not confirm, our system authorised (blocked the funds) on the credit card, however, we did not charge the amount thus the amount never actually left your account. We have since released the authorisations made and it is now up to the card issuing bank and its internal procedures as to how long it will take for the funds to be unblocked and ready for use.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for the frustrations you experienced and thank you for taking the time to submit a review of your experience.
