Will happily stay with them for years to come. Unauthorised overdraft charges are crazy - I have been a few pence over for a few days in a row, and got charged £5 each day. Overall Smile offer a generally good customer service communicationVery simple and navigable site/portal.

So many other banks with online statements can get this right, why can't a purely INTERNET based bank. There is no way to change or make your home page to your preferences and the way it is set up is unclear to use, difficult to navigate and a awful colour. Get it right!

I have been with Smile for a long time and can't fault them. Offered interest even for current account.
However, I have no knowledge of treatment of overdrawn etc.
I highly recommend this bank if you are always in credit.

I've switched from Natwest to Smile 5 years ago and never looked back. Great to see monthly interest in your current account, the website is easy to use and they've been very helpful whenever I had to call them. You can even go into a co-op bank if you need to cash a cheque or withdraw some a lump s ...

I have never had reason to switch banks due to poor service before and really didn't want to close my Smile account due to their Ethical policy. But even the simplest of requests to Smile meet with a blunt negative. Replies are not followed up and despite a top class credit rating, I have had my ov ...

Could do better in terms of usability and the quality of their online customer service. email help desk was not good - forever getting the answers wrong.
Never tried the phone.
Site not very good.

I have had a Smile account for many years and was pleased with it. I encouraged my son (a student) to open one but when he unwittingly exceed his overdraft limit by a measly £54 he incurred penalties of £200. It's a pity their so called ethical policy doesn't extend to their own customer ...

Have looked at the other options available in the UK and the mix of good interest, ethical standards, ease of use and access are, for me, a difficult act to beat. Very helpful telephone backup - UK based & quick to reply.
Also online secure e-mail support is speedy, with detailed individual r ...
