“Descrimination at it's finest ”

I received a squishamllow from Smiths today with multiple holes in it. I contacted customer service as its a large item and I was told to return it using DHL. I checked online and I do not have a DHL drop off point anywhere near where I live. I am disabled with limited mobility, my multiple health conditions means I am unable to walk far and there's no way I could carry this huge box. The closest DHL drop off point to me isn't accessible from the roadside and there is no disabled parking nearby. The closest store to me is over an hour drive away. I explained this to them and requested for them to arrange collection of the item from my home (I've done this many times with other companies and it's never been an issue) to which they refused. Anyone with any kind of disabilities I urge you to avoid this shop as they clearly discriminate against disabled people.

“Poor returns policy”

Poor returns policy. Bought a digital dance mat for my kid from the website. When I got it out the box it was already scuffed in several places like it had been used and resold. We decided to return it because it actually boos at you when you get a dance move wrong! So I tried to return it as an unwanted item but they refused since it had been opened, even though it was in exactly the same condition as before I opened it. Decent shops would either give a refund or a credit note. So I've paid £25 for my kid to be booed at. Furthermore, there's something fishy about their product reviews. I bought the item because it had 4.9 out of 5 but I couldn't read any of the reviews - the link doesn't work. I thought it was a fault at my end but I've tried four different browsers on two devices and I can't see reviews for any product. Nor can I create a review for a product I've purchased. So who is writing all these reviews? Picking a few products at random, they all have nearly 5 stars. Very suspicious since it's mainly overpriced plastic tat. I'm never giving this company my money again.

“Poor knowledge of the items”

Razer Kaira X Xbox Heard. Well what a pain the service was from Smyths. Required a new set of headphones for my sons pc, he liked the Razer Karia and seen these ones online at smyths. We went to smyths and asked the sales person to have a look at these headphones, even though it states for xbox it also stated on the box that they are compatible for pc aswel. The sales person confirmed this and advised "yes they will work on Pc". We got them home and my son could not wait to unbox them. Immediately my son said he had audio through them but his mic was not working, I thought this was a fault with the headphones. I returned back to Smyths and spoke with another sales person explaining the issues I was having. He tested them on his mobile phone (not PC) and low and behold he got the microphone to work on his phone. The sales person said as the headphones were worker on his phone he was unable to offer any further assistance and stated that this would have to be done through Razer. Two so-called sales assistants down and still neither of them new anything regarding the products they are selling. I took them home and done some further research myself. A look on Google and I found that these headphones require an xbox one stereo adapter to allow them to work on Pc, something that was never picked up or advised by Smyths sales personnel. Took them back to Smyths and explained that I was sold these headphones as being compatible with Pc but was never advised you needed adapter as the sales assistants I previously dealt with did not know this. Full refund was given the third time round as I provided the evidence. What a pain......

“Spineless manager ”

Saw a poor girl on software be absolutely abused by a women and her partner. She was clearly relaying what the manager was telling her and the customer would not except it. After being told she could not do a return the women swore at her several times. The manager eventually came and he agreed to do the return despite telling his staff not to do it. Clearly the management are happy for there staff to he abused over there policy but don't have the backbone to follow the procedures they have put in place themselves.

“Broken toy. No way to replace ”

Bought an expensive toy for my 10yr old. Opened in Christmas and not working. Customer service worst I have ever experienced, can’t get hold of a person and online forms keep ‘crashing’ Guess I’m stuck with a broken toy!

“A very disappointing shopping experience”

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Smythis (Lakeside, Thurrock) that left me questioning their integrity and customer service. The store was advertising a seemingly attractive deal of "2 for 20" on Nintendo Switch games. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a disastrous shopping encounter. Upon reaching the cashier, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when one of the games rang up as a whopping £35 instead of the advertised 2 for £20. I approached the store manager, to address the issue. To my disbelief, she was not only rude and patronizing but also insinuated that my party had placed the "2 for 20" tag on the £35 game ourselves. How insulting and deceptive! Whats even more shocking. Store manager, in a move that reeks of unprofessionalism, surreptitiously removed the "2 for 20" label herself and attempted to act as if it had never been there. This blatant attempt to cover up their misleading pricing was nothing short of appalling. We were not looking for a handout or asking her to honor the deal; all we wanted was to be treated with respect. We had spent nearly £200 in that store, and manager's treatment made us feel like offender. It's disheartening to encounter a manager who not only lacks professionalism but also seems to have no regard for customer satisfaction. On a positive note, I must commend the cashier, who was a shining example of friendliness and helpfulness. In fact, I strongly believe that she would be a far more suitable candidate for the role of store manager, as opposed to manager, who clearly lacks the necessary skills to handle customer interactions. In conclusion, my experience at Smythis (Lakeside, Thurrock) was marred by deceptive practices, disrespectful behavior from the manager, and an overall lack of professionalism. It's a shame that such a poorly managed establishment tarnishes the reputation of what could otherwise be a decent store. I would caution anyone considering a visit to this store to think twice before doing so.

“Awful company and Birmingham Castle Vale have nasty...”

Castle Vale Birmingham in particular is an Awful store. They have poor attitude to child safety and never do a refund. I will never buy anything from them. Stay well clear !

“shopping experience”

Very bad experience. Bought toys for my daughter last week, they debited the money twice from my debit card, when i asked about the cancelled transaction receipt they did not provide as well. Again i went to customer service being in the waiting for long period without any positive results. when i showed the on line transaction twice in my account they advised me to go behind the bank for the debited amount. Well, 85 euros is important to me, I am waiting for the money back since five days. Be careful with the debit card transactions.

Staff member in grimsby store went out of her way to help me choose the correct car seat for my needs . She was about to go for her lunch but would not go until I decided which seat to choose, she then fitted it into my car for me I had no idea how to fit it. This staff member was such a pleasure to meet and a credit to your store . A big thanks.

The store colleagues were really helpful in trying to find a product which I couldn’t find myself. They checked on their stocks and were out of stock but told me which days they have deliveries and I could call again on those days around teatime because this would give them time to get the new stocks on the shelf. Also they checked other stores for availability and explained how to look for the products on line and use click and collect or delivery. Very pleased with my visit today

“Our 8 year old son refused birthday money refund! ”

Absolutely disgusted with the level of customer service and how they deal with a customer compliant at Oldbury Smyths Store! Our 8 year old son used all his birthday money to by a G Star Electric scooter! We got it home and it had a burning smell to it when it first went on charge! Then when he tried it for the first time it shot across our living room nearly causing a serious injury to him! It says it is suitable for age 8+! He is a confident 8 year old who is used to handling Go Karts, quad Bikes etc… but in our opinion this electric scooter is totally unsafe with only one speed setting! We have asked for our money back and Smyths have refused! They took the scooter off us and tested it and said they can’t see anything wrong with it but I’ve explained this is an unwanted gift! Our son no longer wants it as doesn’t feel safe and wants his £129.99 birthday money back! The supervisor of the store was a vile woman who actually laughed in our faces when we asked to return it! We have complained to customer services and still getting nowhere! We now have NO scooter as the store still has it and NO money back! We are totally disgusted by this store and our son is so upset and no longer wants to shop there! Smyths are still refusing to give us our money back!

Wolverhampton store will NOT let you return faulty goods after having it for only 4 hours it worked intermittently which isn’t good enough and left me with a very disappointed 5 year old . Awful service avoid this store at ALL costs they’re vile !!!

“Not very happy!”

I have just returned from the Preston store and having checked my bill ( foolishly not at the store) find I have been charged twice for the same item! As I live in Southport I am not able to go back to Preston. I have tried to phone the store but the line just goes dead. Please everyone check your bill inside the store before leaving!

“Avoid durham branch”

Miserable experience at the durham store. Rude manager, refused to exchange unopened item with receipt a week over date, tried to embarrass me at the till. Manager was utterly rude and horrid. Terrible Store at Durham, avoid like the plague.

“Uncomfortable Visit to Luton Store”

Visited the store in Luton today and it was such an uncomfortable experience. There were only 4/5 people in what is a huge store (I can see why it has been ghosted though). Overpriced toys, nothing really that interesting, rude staff, why on earth would anyone want to go there. I went to the checkout and the lady pretended not to notice me. She barked me the direction of the Click and Collect desk. The man there was beyond unpleasant and treated me like an inconvenience that he just stepped in. I left cursing myself for even stepping into this shop. Never again.

“Minnie Mouse flip & fun kitchen”

We purchased the Minnie Mouse kitchen for our grandaughter, she had wanted it for months. When my husband put it together the hob was broken. I called Romford branch & was told to bring the broken hob & they would replace it. Was really pleased that we did not have to dismantle the whole kitchen. Manager was really nice & replaced it straight away. Would definatley recommend this branch

I purchased a baby walker for my grandaughter who I have one a week product ref no:127853 Babylo Bizzy Bee Walker £29.99. I have a very expensive wooden floor in my living room and in my large open plan kitchen, diner flowing to large conservatory. I have very expensive Pergo flooring meant to be contract use and this baby walker has completely scratched all floors. At first I thought it was light surface scratches but these will not come our with any amount of buffing. Please advise what I should do as I am very upset and appalled.
