Well what do you expect, because barclays are employing mobile phone salesmen, double glazing salesman and any other salesmen you can think of. The so called 'manager' have little or no experience of the finacial world or business for that matter. The basis of employment, is purely to hit number targets and it doesn't matter how that is doen- need I say more.

“If you are thinking of banking with Barclays...”

Written on: 28/05/2010

If you are thinking of banking with Barclays especially for business then please DON'T. They are totally inefficient. I am still waiting two months down the line to get a debit card in the correct business name. I have only just received a correct cheque book and paying in book after 8 incorrect ones ( of each) were sent out. How are you supposed to run a small business when you can't access your money? The business manager assigned to me obviously does not care and if she does eventually… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/05/2010

in these trying times i was court unaware, in retrospect i should have had my wits about me. i was appalled how easy it is for a banking business manager to be mistaken for a used car sales person. i should have read the signs, the managers constant babbling was not over exuberance but compensation for lack of knowledge and that bright and bubbly was a mask for ineptitude. Thankfully the complaints officer saw sense not to charge for the bells and whistles bestowed on me for opening an account… Read Full Review

Written on: 25/04/2010

Perhaps I have been incredibly fortunate with my Small Business Manager (Nadim at Halifax branch) but he has provided me with a faultless service in every respect. I had a questionable credit history and was turned down by NatWest but Nadim battled to get me an account and was successful (after four weeks!). He has remained proactive and the customer service is wonderful. However, my experience has been limited to this - so I can't speak for the long term 'positives' of the account but so… Read Full Review

Written on: 29/03/2010 by chipperchip (4 reviews written)

I wish I had never set up a business account with Barclay's. They are expensive, slow and at times quite incompetent. It can take ages to actually speak to someone via telephone banking and then they can be most unhelpful. I would not recommend them and would advise people to look elsewhere. Cards sent in the post have failed to arrive and you cannot query this in the branches. As for speaking to your business adviser - forget it, you won't get through!… Read Full Review

The so called 'manager' have little or no experience of the finacial world or business for that matter. The basis of employment, is purely to hit number targets in sales and it doesn't matter how that is done- need I say more. Once the sale has been completed there is little they will do- simply for the fact that they have little or no knowledge of business- yet they are called Bank Manager. My perception along with many others, of a Bank Manager, is that of a well respected and well known person in the community, who has a wealth of business and financial knowledge and is able to advise the customers. Today even the Financial Advisers don't know or cannot advise- all they do is ask you questions and then match tell you a product is suitable- and in many cases that is linked to commission- so the advise is more often than not tainted.

Aj Exports Ltd's Response to rajput164's Review

Written on: 19/09/2010

Guys,

First of all Barclays is wrong bank to have business account with and secondly you need to be aware of your statements as they cheat people too much,

We run Export Company and had funds from customer transferred to us from oversee £33365.00.

I had argument with Barclays for charging me £924 for transfer and next day money was referred to Manchester premier ADV,

Not only what came in from oversee but also another £12000 from what was already in the account was taken by Barclays,

I had to call everyday 10 times listening to Barclays Crap Music for hrs and hrs to talk to their unprofessional staffs who wasn't allowed to tell me the truth,

I had to take matter to FOS financial Ombudsman service as I couldn't get to nowhere and no explanation from Barclays,

payment was hold as they said they had to check but why did they forgot when I told them I will get paid cash transfer from customers by agent in the UK who does international transfers?

Money was taken in June 2010 and we had to stop our activities for 2 month so bank can find out,

When bank had nothing to find they called Police to investigate matter,

police took all our business equipments for over a month and the worst case that Police were that much Useless as they didn't check nothing for month to see if this business is working legally or not as they had all they need in hand,

after all I had to complain to IPCC about works carried out by the Police were unfair and we lost more than £20,000 during that times,

Bad reputation with customers, and our slow services caused we loos all our customers and now in September 2010 while we have complains in both IPCC and FOS we are facing difficulty running this business,

recently I have found many errors in Barclays bank statements as I'm going trough to find out if they have cheated us while we had all these transfers coming and going out,

BARCLAYS was one of the banks who had more then everyone else profit this year and is going to employ someone like Bob Daimound for millions of pound a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where these funds will come from apart from business??????????

Khalidfazeli's Response to rajput164's Review

Written on: 11/06/2010

This has just happened to me as well now.

I purchased a business, then transfered money from my savings account to my current account and then put through a CHAPS transfer for the payment of the business.

half hour later at the same branch i opened up my business account who seemed more of a saleswoman than a business banking manager.

After opening the account at the branch i come home and realise that everything from my personal account has been wiped out! completely! I am now overdrawn £750 out of the allmost £34000 that I had in my account, in my statement it shows payment sent to:

Referral Manchester Premier ADV

First when tried calling fraud helpline and all that, nobody what so ever had an explanation of where that money has gone.

After hours of shouting and screaming at foreign call centres i then decided to go to the branch, who still asked me to go through the call centres at the branch AGAIN!!

After about an hour when my i had really lost my temper with it, the branch manager comes to me and assures me that my money is at the head office operations are doing an enquiry on it.

But she couldn't explain to me at all on why they did, why couldn't they call me and let me know that they are taking my money out.

It's been 2 days now and I still haven't heard anything from them, even my business manager refuses to call me back, allthough at the time of opening my business account i was told anytime i need her she should get back to me within 3 working hours, but no luck.

Can somebody else who faced this issue get back to me on what they're outcome was please?

Thanks

Thegeneral's Response to rajput164's Review

Written on: 17/05/2010

The same thing just happened to me also! I transferred some money abroad the other day and paid for a "Priority Service" at quite a cost. I was told the money would arrive within three days (the transfer took place on the 11th May 2010). They also said that the money could be transferred from my savings account directly.

It is now 16th May 2010 and went to check my account to see that the money had been transferred only to find that the entire balance went AWOL from the account (not just the amount that I wanted to transfer) between the 11th May and then the whole amount returned on the 14th May.

Needless to say, the money has not been transferred and I have no explanation for the money going missing with:
REFERRAL
MANCHESTER PREMIER ADV

So, my account balance was zero (0.00) from the 11th May to the 14th May. I will be ringing the bank no-doubt in the morning to find out what is going on!! This is totally unacceptable!

Whilst I'm here I feel compelled to tell you of another "incident" with Barclays. I won't bore you with the details but in short this is what was happening:

I had a standing order transferring some money from one of my accounts to another on a monthly basis. The amount on the standing order was £50.00. Some months later, I noticed that the amount being transferred by the standing order was no longer £50.00 but £37.50! Yet, looking online, the standing order was still reporting a transfer amount of £50.00.

I rang their 'friendly' overseas call centre to find out what is going on and in short, they guaranteed me that I was wrong. I told them to put a note in on my account that they guarantee the next payment to leave my account would be £50.00 - so they did. The next month, £37.50 left my account again so I walked into one of their branches. A lady there informed me that I was obviously wrong (and made me feel that I was wasting her time) but after looking into the details couldn't understand what was going on (she saw the comment posted by the call centre).

The standing order was deleted and re-setup again. This solved the problem (as I expected) but isn't it scary to think that such a thing can happen in the 21st Century by a big bank!?

I have been with Barclays for over 40 years and feel that they are dealing with me very shoddily. The only times they ever want to make contact is to tell me how they are increasing my charges and indeed today advised that they now require a personal guarantee for my modest overdraft facilities. I have large mostly ungeared personal assets and it suits me to run a small business overdraft ususally running between 5 and 15% of turnover. I have had enough of them and will now seek to move my… Read Full Review
