“£20 to cancel an order!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Igorthegreat on 06/02/2024

Ordered currency and received a confirmation saying payment had been authorised by bank. Heard nothing more until I rang them to find out where currency was. They said payment was from a business bank account which didn’t match name on order. They had made no attempt to contact me to find out about payment. Now they want to charge me £20 to cancel the order. Information about not accepting payment from a business bank account is buried in the small print on the payment page. Terrible service and ‘admin’ feee for cancellation is extortionate. Avoid at all costs!

Ordered currency with no issues, asked a question to customer service who got back to be in a couple of hours and received currency by special delivery the day I requested for delivery. Would use again, great service.

“Large bills”

★★★☆☆

written by yrBolton500 on 18/01/2024

After a good experience dealing for the first time with "The currency club" I was rather disappointed to receive a large number of high denomination dollar bills of which will be difficult to use in everyday use. Perhaps there could be a box on the order form to stipulate small bills for holiday use. Having said all that I will use "The currency club" again in the future as they were quick, professional and gave a good Pound to Dollar rate.

“£2000 of travel money never arrived”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stevebellamy on 04/12/2023

Ordered £2000 of travel money, they sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, but it never arrived. I chased and chased, but kept being fobbed off, saying they had to wait to hear from the Royal Mail, even though the tracking was saying the package hadnt moved for over a week. Even when they agreed it had gone missing, they still refused to refund or re-send until they had money back from Royal Mail. I am still out of pocket and at a loss.

“Disappointing bills selection.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by georgejones04 on 16/11/2023

The rates offered are great, but despite offering 'small', 'large' or 'mixed' bills, you will inevitably end up with whatever they choose to give you. I recently ordered some cash and with just two days before my trip, have received an order of all large bills, despite selecting small ones.

“Avoid them. Their rate is fake.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Mary13243 on 02/10/2023

The currency club offered the exchange rate of 1.2021 for $ and in less than hour when we put our order, it changed it to 1.1873 and charged me £25 more. This is forgery. in 30 min the rate came back to the initial rate to trap more people. Be aware. I am going to take it serious. Besides, although it is written free delivery but they charge you £7.5 for delivering in three days!! Avoid them.

“Unreliable and do not take responsibility for errors”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JohnH68 on 01/09/2023

Ordered travel money at short notice and upgraded to Saturday pre-1pm delivery (having used Currency Club previously and rate was attractive). Consignment did not arrive until the following Monday (by which time I had already departed and arranged over the counter alternative currency (luckily having enough money in the bank to cover funds). Compounded by the issue of a friendly postman signing for a delivery I no longer needed, I found the currency on my doormat which had only been sent on a standard next day service (not Saturday). I ended up having to pay myself to return the delivery securely as Currency Club assumed Royal Mail would ‘return to sender’ free, even though the item journey was complete. Took no responsibility and refused to cover my postage costs (I did receive a refund for the currency once received back). Looking at their review score, it looks like this is an isolated incident. All I would advise is to be wary of their customer service levels if anything goes wrong (as they tried to blame late delivery on Royal Mail etc when it was clearly sent out on wrong service).

“DO NOT USE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BenMustafaTankerDriver on 07/05/2023

The whole point in ordering from the Currency Club is that they offer small denomination notes which I ordered. When I received the currency it was ALL in the largest denomination possible, what was the point in offering this service if you could not provide it? I will NEVER use Currency Club again.

Transaction was reported as declined in error. My bank did not decline the payment and money was debited from my account . It will it now take several days and much inconvenience to get my money credited back to my account. I placed another order with one your competitors and it went through quickly without a hitch. Dreadful experience, will not recommend it use currency club in future

The currency Club offered a great exchange rate. The whole system was quick and straightforward online - no need to find a beaureau de change, etc. They delivered my Euros by secure post exactly as promised on the day agreed. I'll definitely use the Currency Club again.

“excellent Currency Dealers”

★★★★★

written by Trasgarian on 05/09/2022

I have started using The Currency Club to obtain my US$ currency needs. Without going into too many details I have a regular requirement for US$ from $500 to $2500. Whilst I appreciate this is relatively small numbers for commercial dealings it is ideal numbers for travel and incidentals. They are swift, accurate and give as good a rate as I would get from a major currency dealer especially in light of the small values, I know because I buy US$ for my company's overseas payments. They have consistently better rates than their high street competitors. I am very glad I found them and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for smaller quantities of currency

“Amazing customer service.”

★★★★★

written by Oldbugger1 on 01/09/2022

First time I have purchased euros online. This company is a credit to their industry. I have MS, and was resting in bed when the parcel from the currency club arrived. Somehow, as I opened it, I allowed 1100 euros to slip into my bed unnoticed. Fearing some serious problems had occurred I immediately contacted the currency club who were supportive and assured me they would carry out an investigation immediately. At 7:30 pm one of their managers called me very concerned as they had kept their staff in the office in order to complete their investigation but to no avail. Thankfully I had discovered the lost monies in my bed, much to both my and theirs relief. As I attempted to apologise, their manager instead thanked me, explaining they had never had a problem of this nature before so it had given them an opportunity to test their security systems. I will be sharing this story with everyone who will listen.

Hi there..when you place your order they do not actually get in touch afterwards....however...if you order your exchange before 12pm you will get it by the next day as long as it's a working day (not sat or sun)...At the check out you are given several choices for delivery...They are super quick and the package has to be signed for AND it's free p&p....I've dealt with them for years and in my opinion give the best possible rate at the time...Just remember to choose how you want your money..such as large small or mixed denomination.. Cheers...hope this helps..

Unsure. Only used Currency Club to exchange GBP to Euros. I have used a company called TRANSERWISE recently to send money overseas. They are far cheap to use than banks. They get good reviews and my transactions were incident free and the company kept me informed throughout the transaction.

Log on to the site and create a new account (this is very simple and the website guides you through it). You can then order your chosen currency and pay by debit card. Your currency will be delivered the following working day by Royal Mail special delivery. All very simple and secure. I have used The Currency Club many times and always had excellent service and the best rates.

I have just received £2000 in Euros, £1000 of which are in 100 Euro notes. My bank and exchange shops local to me will not change them (and why should they). Where can I exchange these large notes? I will have to carry my passport around with me on holiday to be in with a chance of changing them in Spain. My holiday is ruined before it has started.

I cannot see how your holiday is ruined. Money is money. I've not had problems with 100 euro notes. Either ask your hotel to change them as the need arises, or go to the local bank in Spain with your passport and they will change them. Using them in restaurants to pay for a meal usually works too. Taxis and small shops probably don't have the change to give you. Not a big deal. Enjoy your holiday!
Report this content SomersetSteve Written on: 02/10/2014
Hi neiland jean, I don't think you will have any problem spending your 100 euro notes in Spain. Just don't try and buy small items with them. Save them for larger purchases like meals, petrol etc. If you really need to change them, take them in to a bank in Spain who will be happy to change them for smaller notes. Have a great holiday !
Report this content cokdeli Written on: 02/10/2014
Further to other answers I would also say you won't have any problems paying abroad for anything (unless very small items) it would be like paying for a coke with a £50 note so spend it on higher priced goods. If you really don't want to take them, ask the Post Office they are usually pretty good at changing the higher notes. Have a good holiday cokdeli
Report this content Krissy61 Written on: 02/10/2014
I also have had no problem with the large notes , I either used them for paying for meals , and I went to the bank and changed them up , certainly will not ruin your holiday ,as for carrying all your money around , it would be a lot safer to hire a saftey deposit box
Report this content Nuzzonick Written on: 02/10/2014
Did you specifically ask for small notes or a variety? I have never had this issue with The Currency Club I have to say, however I also agree with the answers below, you will have no problem exchanging them in Spain.
Report this content Terryglobal Written on: 02/10/2014
Good question...I had a similar problem and found that the best place to exchange or spend the larger notes was @ the "HOTEL", that I stayed in! The reason for this was that it was much easier for them to bank a 100 note than lots of smaller notes.. Just for the record I worked in banking for 25 years and NO bank had an issue with changing currency if asked? In fact using their currency shouldn't be a problem. You could even try a "foreign exchange" shop as well which shouldn't charge you for swapping notes, so please ask either way the only delay is normally queing up!
Report this content wobblesnap Written on: 02/10/2014
We tried to use them in rural France and nobody would take them. I am pretty sure that as others have said here that that more tourist friendly places in Spain will be fine
Report this content pyates Written on: 02/10/2014
Hi neilandjean, We have just returned from France and had no problems using 100 Euro notes, obviously not at the bar for a coffee but at the supermarkets, hotels and restaurants we were able to use them. In Spain just take them with your ID to the bank or Post and they will change them - no problems. So go on your holidays and enjoy yourselves.
Report this content Tissick Written on: 03/10/2014
I have never had any problems changing 100 euro notes in Spain, but as previously suggested, only use them for larger purchases. Maybe next time you should request small denomination notes or ask for them not to send you and 100s. The currency club are usually very helpful. Enjoy your holiday.

Apparently they process orders between 9 and 6 for delivery next day before 1. However, I wouldn't leave it to late for next day delivery as it is delivered by Royal Mail. I've never had any problems ordering at 3 in the afternoon

I ordered mine in the afternoon and they arrived the next morning, if you ordered tonight I would expect them to arrive on Thurs morning, they are delivered by Royal Mail.

I would expect them within 48hours - our experience shows that it is best to allow the extra day as they are delivered by Royal Mail.

If you order them in the evening they will send them out when they open next day so you will get them the following day. If you order them this afternoon you will have them tomorrow morning. It's a great service and the best I've found!

They would arrive on Thursday by Royal Mail special delivery
Report this content bobthedieselman Written on: 25/02/2014
I did order mine before the 1pm deadline and they did arrive the following day via first class Royal Mail delivery. My Guess would be that, if you order before 1pm, then it will be certain to arrive the next day, but if you order in the evening, you might be lucky (depending upon where you live), but more likely to receive it on the second day after the order.
