If you enjoy 101 options before getting through to anyone,spending lots of time on hold and being transferred between most of the staff and explaining your issue over and over and getting absolutely no where then this is the company for you, if not then please run and tell a friend to tell a friend to avoid this company at all costs!!!!!

“BEWARE !!! Octagon Insurance”

They put incorrect details on the claims Underwriting Exchange.They said that I had a at fault claim in 2015 when I did not,I made an enquiry and they put it as an at fault claim,this matter is still ongoing and it is effecting my insurance with another company.I have spoken to the same person twice including their supervisor and they still have not corrected their mistake.so once again BEWARE !!! Octagon Insuance.Do Not Touch Them With A Bargepole.Keep Away From Octagon Insurance.

“Awful company - AVOID!!!”

I had a renewal through from them which was nearly £800 for the year (and yet my year with them only cost me around £450, so why the big increase I'll never know as I had no claims). I bought new insurance for £220 for the year with another company and called Octagon to cancel my policy around a week before renewing. I had a confirmation email that my policy had ended and they sent me my proof of no claims bonus, so all seemed ok up to this point. Unfortunately, 4 months after I cancelled, I have realised they have set up a new direct debit in my bank (as I cancelled the previous one after not renewing with them) and they have been debiting my account £80 a month without me realising. Called them and just get put on hold for long periods and no callbacks.

“Complete Shambles AVOID!!”

Company is a complete shambles, a complete waste of time. AVOID!!! I've been a customer for a few years. I contact them for help and get told screw u basically. Manager said i'm the one who decides even if I wanted to help I cant, seriously? you have said u wont help me and now you said even if I wanted to I can't. so what is it?? you pick and choose who to help? The letters they send, say one thing only to be told something else. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! I don't usually leave review on things but this has annoyed me so much I thought I would give my review.

“terible”

Avoid at all costs. Hidden fees everywere and customer service unprofessional. They charge £50 fee for terminating the agreement and don't even tell you at the time of termination so they can send you a reminder two months later that £50 plus interest needs to be paid. Also they deliberately mistake your details so you can call and amend for £20 fee. After arguing they cancelled the fee but still behaving like is never their fault.

“Was going to renew :(”

I am waiting for my renewal letter, which I have asked for twice now and still not received, Also it was so hard to get through to the right department with all the buttons you have to press! Then I was looking through all your reviews and was totally horrified as I am a lady of very senior years and after seeing what has happened to most of you I will certainly not renew!! thank you for your candid words they have helped me a lot. Also cheaper isn't always better!

“Charging GBP 25 for changing details”

I have moved address two weeks ago. And because of that I have to inform my car insurance and apparrently Octagon Insurance charged 25 pounds because of changing my address details. And I was nearly the end of my insurance year and told me that my driving license date was incorrect and because of that I have to pay 42 pounds. THIS IS MONEY MAKING. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. And the customer service is rubbish! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO WITH THEIR CHEAP OFFERS. THEY CHARGE A LOT ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CLAIMS. Be Careful.

“Don't waste your money!”

I knew my car insurance was up for renewal soon but hadn't received any letters from octagon so decided to call them. Well got through quite quickly (which is unusual based on past experience) and asked when I will be receiving renewal notice. Was advised the current company I was insured through was no longer but not to worry as I would be insured with a sister company great I thought! Well the renewal quote they gave me was shocking more than double than what I was paying.Good job I phoned when I did otherwise would of been a mad dash to find cheaper insurance. I have managed to get a cheaper quote through a more reputible company and have saved about £300 for the year.. Shame on you Octagon!!

“Cancelled Insurance no notification”

They cancelled my policy, left me without insurance so I ended up driving my car for a at unaware I didn't have insurance, they done this 1 month before I was due my renewal which meant I never got my NCB, they have just sent a letter saying I can renew with someone else at double the cost, I searched and found cheaper elsewhere even cheaper than what I was paying octagon. thankfully they don't do insurance anymore and just search a panel of lenders and get commission, an easy sell for shady companies like that, don't go near them with a barge pole

“Attempted to cancel”

Upon taking out a car insurance policy I was told to submit proof of NCB etc. which I sent out immediately. I then received an email ,a text and an answer phone message confirming they had been received. To my horror a few days later received a letter saying my policy is to be cancelled as I had not sent any proof of NCB etc., cue another 30 mins on hold trying to get through and a member of their staff confirmed they had received it. A few blissful days pass. Another letter arrives. I once again quote the now extensive receipts they had sent me , and an uneasy ceasefire is formed. Several weeks pass and I now rest easy knowing I am fully insured and have a library of proofs to gleefully quote any interrogative officer or insurer. Unknown to myself the Octagon minions have been stirring, seemingly perturbed by my reinstated peace of mind. Another letter arrives. Octagon have tried a flanking manoeuvre and have unceremoniously dumped yet another enquiry on my now very familiar doorstep- " please supply the following documents" a list of licence details, further proof of address as well as codes , in fact everything excepting a list of childhood fears to be sent immediately. The letter ends with the same death knoll "... there will be no alternative but to begin cancellation proceedings". Frankly I'm tempted to call their bluff and charge headfirst into a legal battle but some sense remains, although eroded by looming constant threat of making me drive illegally.

“Awful”

I chose octagon because of the cheap price, turned out to be a big mistake. When I phoned up to check prices for changing cars, it turns out they weren't even insuring the correct car!! The staff were awful when trying to deal with this issue, and just kept telling me they were going to cancel my policy. They also said that they could no longer cover me as I worked for a takeaway company, even though I am a manager and not a delivery driver. I would definitely not recommend and will happily pay a bit more to be covered by an insurance company who can actually deal with customers.

“Absolute joke of a company ”

Used this company this year for insurance as it came up the best price! Big mistake! Once they add all the little extras in that you really don't want the insurance price creeped up from the best price to just stupidly priced! They cancelled my direct debit sent me threatening letters telling me my insurance would be void if I didn't make payment even though I had it set up monthly. The amount of times I phoned for them to say the letters got sent in error! My insurance is up for renewal now and the arrogant so called gentleman I spoke to along with the new quote just made me realise not go with them again! Trying to charge me £3,200 to insure a 11 year old car with a years no claims is a absolute joke and as for the attitude of the lad I'd be happy to walk to work than waste anymore money paying for a appaling service !! I've got to say it's the 1st and last time I would use these! Might aswel wear a mask the quotes they come out with!! As for the staff customer service doesn't even deserve a star rating you phone and get answered like your a burden to them and they can't really be bothered to inform you of any questions you ask! I wouldn't recommend them to anybody plenty more decent insurers out there !!!! Avoid Avoid Avoid!

“Car insurance bad”

Whilst we had our insurance policy with octagon for a few months and never had any problems we were disappointed to find recently they had stopped our insurance. We had received no correspondence from them at all no emails no letters no phone calls until Saturday the 17th December we had an email to say the policy was cancelled with no reason why. We had recently made a payment a few days before and had set up a direct debit so we couldn't understand why it was cancelled. After speaking to someone eventually today we were told once it was cancelled that was it with no explanation as to why!! We now have no money to pay an upfront cost of new insurance which now means we cannot visit family who live 120 miles away including my very sick grandad who doesn't have long left. We hope you're happy with yourselves octagon because we certainly aren't!!!

“Rubbish, horrible customers services, still my £65”

Rubbish and horrible customers services. After 3 years never claim and in the middle of my policy they would like from me plenty of documents. I call them to explain that I just received a letter and I have my flight in 3h and I can't provide this document in next 3weeks as I will be on holiday. Then they ask me to cancel policy as they need documents in 2 weeks, also they charge me £65. RUBBISH NEVER USE MAKE ME A LOT OF STRESS THAT NOT WORTHY. Cheep company cheep service!!!!!!

“Useless don't bother”

My work vehicle was hit whilst parked outside my home in the early hours of the morning . The police attended and the guy who was driving the car was found to be a drink driver . Obviously the incident had nothing to do with me as I was in bed asleep . Octagon insurance messed me about all the following day meaning both myself and staff could not work as octagon couldn't get their act together regarding a courtesy car . I've been driving and had car insurance for thirty years and have never experienced anything like the poor service in my life . It's now 7 in the evening I am no nearer a whole day later than I was at 9am this morning . They even tried telling me over the phone without seeing my vehicle that it was definitely repairable . It's been shunted down the road , has a tyre off the rim, the doors won't open and the axle is visibly twisted and they can see this over the phone (laughable ) atrocious customer service as the innocent party in all this I am gobsmacked so don't use them !!!!

They cheap but they will charge for every thing.I sold my car and I need to wait 3 weeks for new one-they do not wan to keep my policy-they said then must cancel in 2 weeks.They want to charge me for cancellation 75£(I so not want to cancel-they want to cancel)and some cost I don't know for what it was 67£.Rubbish company,only want money for nothing

I would have loved to give them zero stars but no option available! Simply shocking and terrible customer services. Went with the cheapest company as you do, they were ok to keep taking my money when there is no claim, but when it came to making a claim all of a sudden all these obstacles kept creeping up on after the other! The claim is still ongoing.

“Worst company ever”

Simply incompetent!! Agents are slow and lazy, wont do anything for you. God forbid you have to claim with them. I havnt seen my car in 4 months now. And they only have to change the cars locks. Have to call every day to make them do something. Also dont expect a courtesy car from them. I drive an automatic and they only have 1 car!!!!!!!!!! 1!!!!!! Keep throwing words subject to availability! Greedy, incompetent, lazy, worthles company! Stay away!!!!! Never never never!

If another party is responsible for damaging our windscreen does anyone know how to manage the situation? I can't find out from Octagon. I can't get the other party to give me their insurance details. They are insured according to the police. I don't know what I will have to pay. Even this morning after 7 days of trying to get an answer from Octagon my call has been cut off 3 times.

You will either have to open a claim with Octagon and get them to find the insurance details of the other driver, assuming you can provide their registration number. This will be a lengthy process as both insurance companies will have to determine liability. The quickest option is to use the windscreen cover through octagon, pay the excess for either repair or replacement and get it sorted. This doesn't affect your no claims bonus.
