“My dog loves Royvon”

★★★★★

written by Toddc447 on 10/04/2018

My dog has stayed at Royvon anything from a few nights to 2 weeks. He goes nuts as soon as I pull up and he can’t get in there quick enough which speaks for itself. I don’t even get so much as a backward glance when the staff member takes him from me.when I collect him he always looks exactly the same as when I left. The pictures that are posted on Facebook every day are proof that he’s having a really happy and fun stay. I can relax whilst I’m away knowing my dog is safe, happy having fun, eating well in fact he is having a holiday while we are to. I love the fact that I can take his crate, cover and his own bedding when he stays. Basically I don’t know what I’d do without Royvon

“Only 45 minutes training a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

★★☆☆☆

written by yoCarpenter1985 on 02/10/2017

after driving down for 2 hours expecting to leave our 12 month old dog at royvon for the behaviour modification programme I have to say I was not pleased. My dog is nervous at the best of times and soon as you walk inn the sheer amount of dogs barking in distress was awful. the place looks nothing like the website and when asking more questions we realised he would only be trained for 45 minutes a day "could be more , could be less" as quote from the trainer! why would I allow my dog to stay somewhere for 3 weeks for an 'intense course' and only be trained for that short time per day and also would only be let out of his kennel for that short time. After speaking for an hour we realised that it was not for us and requested we have our dog back as we could hear him screaming in the distance, when we got him back after that short time his rear end was messy as he clearly was in so much stress. if your dog is anxious/nervous please do not send them here, its not suitable.

Thanks to all the staff who helped wilff have a happy holiday.

“Fantastic Trainers!”

★★★★★

written by JENNYandBELLA on 04/06/2017

I recently attended the two day reactive dog training course with my German Shepherd Bella. As we arrived, they were there to warmly greet us - I was feeling incredibly anxious and nervous, as I know my dog is a massive pain! Plus I was worried about her being in a kennel for part of the course, as she hasn't experienced this before and is scared of dogs. Well I shouldn't have worried! Both of them were incredibly welcoming, friendly and reassuring. It was an absolutely fantastic course - we learnt so much and it is very clear how much they both love dogs, and deeply understand them. We had many 'lightbulb' moments on the course and were just so very grateful for them supporting us through our issues. I especially loved her impressions of dogs! Highly entertaining and certainly helped us understand behaviours more! We travelled from Rotherham (South Yorkshire) for this course as there is nothing like it locally and have heard and seen good things about Royvon - I enjoy watching the facebook updates. The course allowed us to learn ourselves, rather than just sending our dog off somewhere (which again I would have been too nervous to do). Having seen the facilities and high standard of training, I am definitely considering bringing Bella to the behaviour modification course when I can afford it. Which is another reason why I think these type of workshops are great because it allows you to improve the life of your dog without breaking the bank. It would be great to have a follow up course to this to see the progress with all dogs - I know we all bonded well over our similar issues and it was nice to talk to people who truly understood what we were going through. Even though its a hell of a drive for us, I would absolutely come back - they make it so worth it. In summary, I can't thank you enough. We really enjoyed it and feel positive about putting what you taught us into practice (slowly but surely!). Also, thank you especially as you understood what a nervous wreck I was and your encouragement and support was really kind. Thank you - Jenny and Bella

“Total piece of mind”

★★★★★

written by Jadynw156 on 10/05/2017

Alfred our Weimaraner has just spent 2 weeks at Royvon whilst we had a holiday in USA. We were able to have a very enjoyable holiday knowing our much loved pooch was being so well looked after. The daily photos and videos put your mind at rest knowing he's in a safe and caring environment. He had such fun everyday. We chose to book Alfred into one of the spacious villas which is ideally positioned so he can continue to be his nosey self and watch all the activity there. His reaction when he arrives at Royvon proves to us that he loves it there. Alfred looked exactly the same when we collected him as he did when we dropped him off, he smelt absolutely gorgeous from his bath. We know we can continue to have stress free holidays with the total peace of mind that Alfred is safe, being well cared for and having lots of fun. A big thank you to everyone at Royvon for looking after our little boy

“Follow up training ”

★★★★★

written by LewisFamily5 on 26/11/2016

This was a follow up session after the training Seve received whilst boarding when we were on holiday. It was so informative for us as owners the actions we were shown were followed up by in depth explanations as to why we were doing it and what the dog was getting out of it. We had been to training sessions with other organisations in the past but had always felt that both we and Seve had got nothing out of it and perhaps he'd never be able to interact with other dogs. Our trainer at Royvon Merthyr showed us in a very short space of time that this was not the case bringing us to tears when he happily mixed in with group play for the first time. She gave my husband so much more confidence and practical advice for when walking him and we will be back to continue her great work very soon. We can't thank her enough.

“Brilliant”

★★★★★

written by DaniC93 on 26/11/2016

Our first experience at Royvon Merthyr was when our 1 year old rescue dog attended for the obedience training programme for 3 weeks. All I can say is, we were kept up to date at all times by the trainer, as well as photo updates and by the end of it, we had a different dog. She has completely changed and is the loveable dog we always wanted her to be. Since that visit, we have used Royvon as a kennel and for daycare. We know that when we leave our dog here, they are looked after and happy. Which is the main thing for us! I would just like to mention the lady who has developed a lovely relationship with our dog who finds it hard to trust, she is brilliant in her approach and is easy to talk to about any problems we may have with our dog. Definitely recommend Royvon!

“Looking forward!”

★★★★★

written by T77edm on 30/09/2016

After initially being very concerned about the prospect of leaving Bolan for the three week Behaviour Modification Programme without contact, I was reassured having spoken to Aleks. It was clear that she knew exactly what the issues were with my dog. He had previously been attacked by two Bull Mastiffs and as a result had become very anxious, nervous and defensive. Walks were no longer a pleasure but extremely stressful. The plan was to build his confidence and ease the anxieties he felt when out walking. To see the daily pictures of him actually playing with other dogs instead of him exhibiting anxiety was both encouraging and reassuring. When we collected Bolan it was clear that walking him would now be a different experience. He is less anxious and more obedient. Further conversations with Aleks showed that she had a clear understanding of Bolan's behaviour and what to do to try to resolve it. We understand that he is not 'there yet' and that there is still a great deal of work to do. However we believe that Aleks has established a firm foundation. The first follow up session with Alexs was very helpful and we were given further exercises and advice. It was also nice to see that Bolan was excited to re-visit Royvon and extremely pleased to see Alexs. We are looking forward to the regular follow-up sessions and the impact they will have over the next six months. We feel that we can contact Aleks at anytime if we experience any setbacks and are very grateful for work she has done with our Irish Setter. We are optimistic for the future.

“Great dog training centre for nervous dogs.”

★★★★★

written by on 16/03/2016

We took our Jack Russell Terrier to Royvon Merthyr for help with his behaviour in January 2016 and he was booked into one of the hotel suites. His trainer spent an hour with us prior to the training to find out about our dog, his problems and what we expected. She told us about the training programme and helped us to understand the process. We then left him for three weeks and during that time we had regular up dates via email and on facebook. We were also able to check up on him through the web cams, which was great. On collecting him, we noticed a big difference, even though the trainer had warned us that not all his problems would be dealt with in a 3 week peroid. It was obvious that the trainer and the other staff at Rovyon had spent a good amount of time encouraging and caring for our dog. We learnt all about counter conditioning and we have now gone on to implement further training for him at home. This is challenging but we know that it is effective in getting him to change his behaviour. We are so grateful to the trainer for teaching us and working with us to help improve our dog's behaviour.

“Amazing, Awesome, fantastic staff and Happy dogs.”

★★★★★

written by vstickler on 23/02/2016

We have never found a place as fantastic as Royvon. We have 3 giant breed dogs who we show. We are fussy dog parents. I stress when leaving our dogs anywhere but I can honestly say that the staff here put my mind at rest and brought a smile to my face. The team are kind, caring dog people. They seemed to just "get" my worries and they were as good as their word and they not only looked after our dogs but they positively gave them a holiday too. I loved getting daily facebook photos and progress updates. Our dogs all came home in excellent condition. They had been bathed and groomed and none of them had lost weight or seemed distressed at all. It is great that there is a choice of packages and I loved being able to see photos of my dogs being exercised and playing. We were also able to leave our own food for the dogs and we left chicken and other meats to supplement the dry food - the staff didn't mind at all. I just hope that not too many additional people start using Royvon as I now wouldn't consider leaving my dogs anywhere else.

“Well, we keep coming back! ”

★★★★★

written by carlhicks on 24/01/2016

We've been bringing our 7 year old weimaraner Harley here for boarding for seven years and cannot fault the service provided. Veterinary care has been arranged when harley was ill and staff have asked how he's doing during two serious illnesses he's had. Good range of activity packages available and plenty of photos on Facebook and information if needed. Wouldn't go anywhere else as they don't offer the service Royvon in Merthyr do for such an active dog. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Pet taxi service is also very handy too.

“Our dogs love Royvon at Merthyr!!”

★★★★★

written by DoodleFamily on 18/01/2016

I know our dogs (Eddie and Scooter) can't tell us exactly how they feel but we can certainly see how excited they get when we arrive at Royvon - they love it! We can go on holiday knowing that they are having a great time playing in lots of space out with the other dogs and the photographs show that. It's a big part of our holiday looking at the photographs each day to see who they are playing with and that they are ok. It's like leaving children behind and we were always a bit worried about them, now we can go away without any guilt or worry as they seem to have a ball!

“WOW......DONT HESITATE!!!”

★★★★★

written by BevannO on 28/11/2015

We booked our 18 month Doberman in for the 3 week training programme whilst on holiday in October. We were apprehensive as it was the first time we'd left him to go away but we needn't have worried at all, we felt reassured when we first visited as the staff were extremely knowledgeable and seemed to understand our training needs straight away. Rocco is an exuberant Doberman so we opted for the training package as thought it would be an investment in him and our enjoyment of him in the long term. That turned out to be exactly what we got. We hoped he would be better behaved when out on walks and with distractions, he is. He also had some annoying traits within the home but I didn't expect there to be much of an improvement, but WOW there is a huge improvement. He's much better behaved in and out of the home. Roccos trainer was amazing as we're all the staff we can't thank them enough. The whole package is amazing and the peace of mind you get from the daily photos on Facebook is a bonus. We visited today for one of our follow up training sessions, you have 6 month back up support and we'll use it a few times to keep on top of his training. Again we were hugely impressed with Roccos trainer and speed and ease in which she was able to retrain Roccos behaviour (and ours!!!) Don't hesitate to book, we'll definitely use Royvon again, Rocco was happy to revisit which was a good sign that he'd enjoyed his stay. Thank you all so much xxxx

“Theo loves Rovon”

★★★★★

written by 358Ross on 21/09/2015

I've always been nervous of boarding my sensitive dog Theo. My fears were quickly put at ease at the Royvon Hotel. My dog was not only looked after but loved by his friends at the Hotel. They catered for his needs and his insecurities perfectly. I had reassuring messages about him and of course the web cam made it a perfect first time boarding experience for us both. He had lots of interactions and exercise and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely use them again. Big thumbs up from Theo X

“Wouldn't uphold booking after terms were set!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/07/2015

Very annoyed with Royvon. Their employee gave me a tour of the facilities, then we spoke about my kennelling needs, which weren't straight forward. Then we sent several emails agreeing to terms and price. So I took our dog for his kennel cough vaccination at a cost of £21 as this is a requirement of Royvon. On my return from the vets I called in to the office to pay the deposit as agreed with a member of staff at Royvon, but a different person, maybe the matriarch, would not allow the booking to go ahead, obviously thinking it made no business sense. However a company should realise that it has a duty to it's (potential) customers to uphold it's employee's decisions. So I'm £21 worst off, have had one email from them since my complaint over a week ago. Would like to have given a review on their kennelling, day care and training services, but I can't as we didn't make it that far.

Response 1.

Hi I am very sorry that you feel we acted inappropriately in this matter. I do not know the full details but happy to investigate and report back to you. I would like to point out that we have many inquiries for the summer period but rooms are not allocated until a deposit is taken. This fact obviously wasn't communicated clearly enough which I apologize. We have a set number of rooms available and when they are all booked with a confirmed booking then all that space is taken and no other bookings can be accepted. In order to help me investigate please send any information and copies of emails to us. Kind Regards Darren James MD

Response 2.

Hi Thank you for sending the information. I have investigated and my response is as follows:- Your intent was to make a booking for 3 weeks over the summer holidays so that you were able to use in the event that your 'Plan A' did not work. Our terms and conditions are that if you did not arrive on the arrival date then the booking would be classed as a 'No Show' and the booking would have been subsequently cancelled. Therefore you would have lost your deposit on same date as the planned arrival date. My colleague wouldn't accept the booking for these reasons. If there is any other way that we can help as a 'Plan B' then please email me direct. Kind Regards Darren James MD

Response 3.

We cannot accept a booking without a start date, therefore a date would have to be given in order for a room to be allocated. There is obviously a communication glitch in the communications and if any of my team were responsible for such a glitch then I am sorry for their part. I am pleased that you have found a suitable 'Plan B' and that you are now able to enjoy your holiday with piece of mind. I am sure that your vet will confirm that the vaccine is good for your dog and will safeguard your dog against an extremely contagious condition for the next 12 months. Your dog will now be safeguarded for all future interactions with dogs wherever that may be. Kind Regards Darren James MD

Hi, as I have already said to you, we will get no where fast with this. I think you are failing to understand, that although you have terms and conditions set as a policy, one of your employees changed these and agreed to take my booking. When I then came into the office to pay the deposit the person there wouldn't accept the booking.

The only kennel we would use for our boy a Maximus. Friendly and professional service, the regular Facebook posts put your mind at ease when your away from your pooch. “Great three day dog training holiday!”

★★★★★

written by Seleri on 04/06/2015

My border collie Harri and I recently went on the three day dog handling holiday organised by Royvon in Merthyr. Although Harri has good basic obedience, I lacked confidence in taking him out on my own because of some problems we had due to his nervousness in certain situations which led to unwanted behaviours and my lack of skills in handling him and myself! Going on this course was the best thing I could have done. The manager discussed with me in advance what help I was looking for and whether this course would be appropriate. The mix of training at the kennels and going out with experienced trainers into real life situations was just what I needed. I can't believe that on the third day I walked within yards of a group of sheep on the Brecon Beacons with Harri walking calmly at my side! There were four of us on the course with our dogs and the fact that there were two experienced trainers with us at all times meant that they were able to give us all individual attention as needed. They also made sure the programme was varied and enjoyable. They were good at diffusing tension and creating a relaxed environment for us all to get the best out of it. Considering we all had different issues, they did very well and we had a lot of fun. The agility was particularly good for letting off steam and having a laugh at the end of the day. I also found that I came away with a whole range of tools which I am able to put into practice on a daily basis with Harri. It is essential to carry on with the exercises and techniques after the course and even in the space of a fortnight I have seen a big difference in the way Harri and I interact when out on our own. I feel more in control and I have been able to successfully deal with situations which previously would have had me running scared. Harri also is more relaxed with me and this has really given us the kick start we needed to get out there and enjoy each other's company on our walks. I enjoyed the company of fellow trainees and we supported each other well. At the end of the course we were keen to meet up again in a couple of months to go on a walk with the trainers to see how we had progressed. The course has opened up all sorts of doors for Harri and me, and we are well on the way to a normal happy relationship with lots of walks and fun for both of us. Thanks Royvon!

I booked my dog into Royvon a couple of years ago she wasn't in a suite but I kept up with live pictures by signing up to Facebook you will then be able to click on the presidential suite and see what your dog is up to! I also used to click on her trainers name and follow her progress. Hope this helps.

Go to site and select Merthyr royvon. About half way down the page you'll see a link for the webcams. Click on this then select the presidential suite. Hope this helps and I hope Summer enjoys her stay as much as my dogs did.
