Ordered several items at a good price, all showing as in stock. Order arrived 9 days later. One of the items was incorrect. It was labelled with JE James' own sticky label as the item I wanted, but it was clearly the wrong item. I checked their website and the item was now showing as out of stock so I emailed JE James to request a refund. I purchased goods from this company on 16th May and all items ordered were shown as IN STOCK. I went with Je James Cycles as they offered free postage (BIG MISTAKE) !!!!! Their delivery conditions state items sent free can take between 3-5 days for delivery. After 5 days and still no goods, I contacted the company (23.5.11) only to be told that the items were packed and ready to ship in other words they had not sent the items for delivery yet. You'll never get an "appology", maybe an apology. Never bought from Wiggly or Chain Reactions. But have brought from Wiggle (poor) and Chain Reaction Cycles (excellent) though. Purchased a pair of Oakley Glasses from J.E. James, good price and very prompt delivery. Whilst 'Quality of service" may be one star as you never visited how can you give one star for "Shop Layout" and surely the price and free delivery made value for money higher? I always find a spell checker helps get your point across more eloquently.

I am so glad that after 2years have gone by since I posted my review that you have taken the time to compose and post such an articulate response. My only concern being that you havnt managed to address any of the issues which I raised. Regardless of the spelling issues (granted) I believe I got my point across.

I have never experienced such pathetic customer service as I encountered from Je James Cycles. I ordered a Specialized Tarmac S Works road frame over the telephone but my address was not recognised by their credit card security system. I conacted my bank who checked the address was correct, ordered an Ultegra groupset from another bike shop with the same credit card and then rang JE James back no less than 10 times to try and process the order. I found this review not helpful because... I am jonathan he is refering too and i was extreemly polite in explaining the athe card details he had given us didn't match with the card registered address and unfortunatley we had to reject the sale at that point, my advice was for him to check with his bank to ensure he had registered the correct address, which he happily agreed to do. poor service ?????? this was the only conversation i had with him. cheap shot i feel as it was his house description which was the problem and not our system.

I found this review not helpful because...this issue has been resolved and the customer compensated for the genuinne system error within our returns dept. this was a very unusual problem which we have now rectified.

Having damaged my large chainring and having a worn middle chain ring for an MTB, I searched the net for replacement rings.

My usual trusted on-line bike shops (Wiggle, Cycle store and Chain reaction) didn't stock the brand of replacement so I cast the net wider and found JE James were able to provide replacement rings.

I ordered some new bike parts online, which included a SRAM chain and a freewheel remover.

I chose the free delivery option and the parcel arrived only a few days after ordering so I was happy with the delivery time.

Unfortunately, they sent me a cassette removal tool instead of a freewheel remover. The JeJames price sticker on the packet says "Freewheel remover", despite the manufacure's packaging stating it is a cassette removal tool- somebody stuck the JeJames sticker right over the top… Read Full Review

I can honestly say that in over 6 years of shopping online the service I received when dealing with J E James cycles is the worst I have ever experienced.

I ordered a jacket which appeared to be in stock on their website. It turns out it wasn't so they had to special order it. When the jacket arrived it was the wrong size, so I sent it back. I used JE James many years ago as a child when I was given a bike frame for my 9th birthday and gradually saved the money to buy extra bits. I moved away as a teenager, but the bike I built, with their advice, served me until it was stolen 12 years later, covering several thousand miles.

Ordered with free delivery option on a Sunday and all goods had arrived with an excellent courier (APC) by Tuesday. Also got sent an ALERT message from APC telling me when the delivery was due, not something I've seen from other couriers.

Before anyone uses the online ordering system read the many numerous reviews on bikeradar and avoid JE James. Like the others my order was confirmed as dispatched 'first class recorded delivery' yet over 3 weeks later it still hasn't arrived. It can be excused that JE James do not have control over the delivery of items but what they can do is have the courtesy to answer your emails requesting the whereabouts of an item. i have a different view of je james, they have been very efficient to me. you have to accept they are a very busy company and getting bigger.. and orders may get missplaced or couriers may lose them. their service is gettin better as a regular customer their cheap prices will lure me to stay with them..

For low stock read zero stock as advised by email 1 week later, goods will be sent in the next few days. Four weeks after order still no goods.
