great service. easy to do online. Friendly staff who are very helpful when you need to speak to someone. would recommend to family and friends. I was with a previous insurer for 3 years and they quoted me nearly £200 more than hastings direct with less cover. I was quoted a price of £162 to insure my car as it was not due at the time i left it as pending the following day your customer service phoned to ask if i was happy with the quote i said i was but as it was not due yet i would buy it at time when it was due they said that was ok as the quote was valid for 30 days when i did buy this policy 10 days later i did not check the price and was charged £189 when i got my policy emailed i looked at the price it had increased by £7 and i had been… Read Full Review

Account could have more details regarding my insurance policy, no where to down load your current insurance certificate, have phoned Hastings and was told that a PDF version would be sent by email, this has not happened to date, and have checked junk box? That Hasting are on my emails This should not happen, I have checked my account for details to see how I am able to down load information however there is no such access? My car was driven into while I was in the shop on a Saturday.The person did not stop and there were no witnesses. I called Hastings Direct and they were unable to help me on any level. I explained to them we had a child under six months old and we desperately needed some kind of help over the weekend, but to no avail. Claim number: 001619331
It is now NINE days since the accident and we are no further at all with our claim. I have been pushed from pillar to post and experienced only unhelpful staff and basic incompetence. For example: the independent assessor was forced to call ME to find out where my car was. This is despite the fact I had told Hastings on several occasions where the car was and the fact that our garage had contacted Hastings themselves with details of the quote (four days ago) to get them to approve it. We still have no idea when the quote will be approved. Ridiculous. There is no point in calling anymore. I'm beyond frustration and anger now. Just despair. Incompetence heaped upon indifference. That is Hastings in a sentence.

It gets worse. It's now Monday morning and it turns out that Hastings had not even bothered to inform the accident recovery people on Saturday - despite telling me they had. I now have to go through all the hoops again. We are still stuck and we still have a very young child. Disgraceful.

I hate the fact you keep my bank details to direct debit next years renewal next year putting the onus on me to cancel this next year. It should be made easy to cancel this at the time you take out the policy and I could not see how to do this… Read Full Review

I'm sorry you're unhappy with our auto renewal process and can assure you that we choose to do this for the right reasons. As you must be insured continuously in the UK, if you forget or not be able to renew you could be fined £1000 or lose your car. If you don't want to renew we can always cancel it - I hope this helps clarify things for you.
