“SALE 5DAY WAS THE BEST”

★★★★★

written by Leonelx499 on 21/04/2015

I wish it was possible to include names as the instructor/head of the course was absolutely amazing. I was very nervous and he broke it down and took his time with me. My instructor was unable to make it so the manager stepped in to help me. I am so grateful for him giving up his time to help and do everything step by step with me. Even though he had to write L and R on my hands due to me forgetting. I loved the lay out of the theory and how the day was broken down between practical and theory.

“Passed first time - great course!”

★★★★☆

written by fionawynn on 14/04/2015

I thought the 5day driving course was really good - four hours of driving a day, plus an hour's briefing and two hours of theory tuition meant that I passed both the theory and practical tests first time. My instructor tailored the lessons to my level of experience, and was happy to spend more time on the things I found difficult and less on the things I found easy. He was really good at building my confidence too, something that I really needed! A few down-sides to the course though: My test wasn't until a week and a half after the end of the course, so I felt the need to book (and pay for!) a private lesson with my instructor between the course and the test. The offer of free tests and lessons if you fail the first time is great, however you need to bear in mind that the lessons are only during the day (not good if you work) and you would have to pay £50 for any subsequent tests to cover the hire of the car and the instructor. Luckily, though, passing first time meant I didn't need these! All in all, though, I feel like 5day was the best way for me to learn, and I don't think I would have passed first time if I'd only had one lesson a week! The intensive nature of the course means you don't waste time in lessons recapping what you did last time - you can get straight on with learning the new content.

Probably wouldn't have passed my theory or practical without 5day. Absolutely lovely drivers with lots of experience and friendly advice whenever required. Just a huge thanks for all the help. I had Ceri as my instructor and he was probably just one of the most helpful people I have come across and had absolute confidence in me and my driving by the end of the week.

“5-Day are Tops!”

★★★★★

written by 35Cooney on 09/04/2015

Together with 10 hours of other professional instruction, 5-Day's 20 hours of practical driving plus intensive start and end of day class sessions got me through my test first time with just 7 minor faults! I can't praise the approach and professionalism of all at 5-Day South London in Morden. They've got me on the road for Summer (as a cautious Newbie, natch)and Boy am I going to enjoy it!

“Review of 5day ”

written by McCallvf341 on 26/03/2015

Very happy with the overall experience. Bit of an issue with the fast track service as I didn't receive the text message so didn't turn up to my test and wasted £100 or whatever it was! Think they could rectify this by sending an email aswell. However I really enjoyed the course and it definitely works! the person I dealt with in Sale was an excellent instructor. Would really recommend 5Day because day after day you just cement the techniques you developed the day before so there is no room to forget anything.

“5day Norwich - A terrible experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ezJones304 on 25/02/2015

Literally had the worst experience of my life with 5day. I've told everybody I know about the horrific experience I had with them and I've told them to never go with 5day. The whole experience made me hate driving all together. My first instructor was rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable from the moment I met her. She has no people skills so in my opinion should not be a driving instructor. She would mutter things such as "oh you don't talk much do you." and when I would ask questions: "why on earth would you ask a stupid question like that". In fact, both driving instructors I had repeatedly told me off for asking "stupid" questions. They made me feel bad about myself for being keen to ask questions. I struggled to understand their annoyance with me asking questions because if you don't ask, you'll never learn. I stated that I had no experiencing in driving and would like to learn at a slower pace, she disrespected this and was disgustingly rude to me throughout the time she taught me. After making minor mistakes that were easy to make, she repeatedly asked me "for goodness sake, why are you not getting this?". It even got to the point where she would cause quite bad arguments with me and tell me and I quote "You should not have taken this intensive driving course". The fact she continually shouted at me and even tutted at each small mistake I made made me feel extremely angry and upset, which could have made me crash the car. The fact she made me feel so stressed out caused to me to make more mistakes. I learnt nothing about driving with Alison because there was no communication whatsoever - a terrible driving instructor. I changed driving instructors and then had Bob who I found to be better. However he still shouted at me when it was extremely unnecessary. He would raise his voice and stress me out when I was putting us in no danger whatsoever. On the Friday if I made one or two mistakes, Bob would raise his voice at me and snap, saying "you can't be still making mistakes on Friday, it's not good enough". Baring in mind I had not driven at all on the Thursday as I was practising for my theory, and I had only had a total of 12 hours experience in a car so was bound to make mistakes! What a ridiculous thing to say, most people who have driving lessons have an average of 40 hours, so it's blatantly obvious I'm still going to make mistakes with only 12 hours of experience. My granddad has been driving for 40 years and still makes mistakes whilst driving a car for crying out loud. I informed 5day that I had 0 hours of driving experience before I booked the course, they told me this was not a problem, and that people with little to no experience would be suited for this intensive course - which is misleading. Overall it was a complete waste of time and money. I feel that I was completely lied to about what the 5day course would entail, it was not what I was told it would be at all. Although I passed my theory test, 2 months later I have still not taken my practical driving test and I completely blame the driving instructors for knocking my confidence so low, rather than building it and supporting me like I asked them to. I would just like to make it clear that I understand driving instructors sometimes need to be stern and raise there voice if a vital mistake was ever made, however each time the instructors shouted at me was completely unnecessary and uncalled for.

I'm really sorry you had a bad experience at 5day too. My mum bought us 3 the intensive course in Sale, which was horrendous. It was really unorganised and a rip off. We didn't even get a Highway code book when we paid so much money for the course. The website advertises one thing and the terms and conditions completely contradict the promises made on the site. We are putting together a case to put forward for a refund. We are planning on taking this to a number of people who can help. If you would like to get involved please email me.

Hi there, I have actually just posted a response on this page and will give you some insight into my experience but there are more complex details regarding issues on the day but apparently they were not concerns that directly affected me and my attendance and that I could have returned. The whole point was that I did not wish to return after one day due to my opinion that I felt my experience and the number of issues that I raised demonstrated repeated unprofessional conduct that I did not want to return after experiencing such insight of the poor standards and how it made me feel on the day and not wishing to return. With regards to the course fee, they are justifying non return due to breach of contract.

I pulled out of the Norwich course two weeks ago after one day due to my view of unprofessional conduct on more than one occasion during that day. I received a dismissive, aggressive response from Customer Services for and on behalf of 5 Day via an email which forced me to escalate a complaint to the company Director. This has resulted in the same, dismissive, defensive response and defamatory references to my character from the Director in a letter. I too was tutored by Bob and had concerns during the two practical sessions in that one and only day's attendance. In addition on raising concerns whereby I felt I did not wish to return, based on inappropriate statements from instructors to include mine, feedback from two other students, the responsibility appears to be mine indicating a mature student should know better than listen to idle gossip, my age has no bearing on what I feel is poor standards and unprofessional. An inappropriate reference was made my a female instructor during the first two hour practical, advising a student that she was supervising a test the next day stating to the student that the person was taking their test 3 months down the line and would never pass!!!!! The student commented that it was unfair to make such a detrimental comment about a previous students abilities. The fact that she did share that information amongst a small group, I should know better, despite the female instructors conduct is not perceived as unprofessional. Not to mention the fact I was briefed at the start of my practical by Bob "I warn you I will cuss throughout!!!!". Yet, this type of conduct appears to be acceptable whereby an instructor can swear at you and raise their voice and it is perceived by the Director of this franchise as acceptable! I agree with your statement that instructors need to be assertive but then repeated references questioning the lack of comprehension on a manoeuvre that is repeatedly difficult for a particular student, which for me was the gears, does not justify undermining the student by repeated frustrated reactions which intimidates the student.

I agree completely. The unprofessional conduct of this company and the instructors is just unbelievable. Customer services were also extremely rude and unhelpful to me when I had to speak to them on several occasions. I think we may be speaking about two different instructors as there are two named Bob, however I do remember the instructor you had as he tutored another boy in my group - this man has disgustingly fowl language. I can't quite comprehend how or why any of these people are working for this company! But then I suppose a terrible company like this one is bound to hire terrible staff to work for them! 6 months later I'm still unable to drive and I'm still extremely angry about the amount of money I wasted on this course, and regular driving lessons are too not cheap.

The course week is very intense with driving and theory instruction; I found this was a brilliant way to learn and I was encouraged in a very positive way. I would really recommend this course to someone who wanted to get their license in a speedy time frame. The instructors and teachers were all really professional and friendly. A big thanks to all of them for helping me to get my license!

I think it depends on the course you book, the one I took was the £900 full week with practical and theory and if I failed I would have received free correctional lessons. I would recommend them to anyone though, the service I received was superb, and I passed first time. Good luck !

Yes but as soon as you book your next test they won’t give you lessons anymore and that’s when you need the lessons the most leading upto the test

I'm a 17 year old fast learner and I'm very eager to learn more and pass my test. I have had a couple of driving lessons with a local instructor and I've insured my car provisionally. I've had a few hours experience and feel quite confident on the local roads and main roads. I took my theory test and failed hazard perception (I passed the questions). I would like to fast track the whole process and get my license in the next month. What attracts me about 5 day is that there doesn't seem to be any messing about (booking tests and lessons, then waiting for them) it looks as though you blast out the whole process in 5days...... although I have seen some bad reviews. I'm in two minds wether to book the course or not and would really appreciate an opinion on my situation and if the course would suit my needs. I have thought about going with another company and doing block lessons however I would have to book my theory test separately, and wait a month to do it. I would then have to book my practical and wait a couple of months for that. Please let me know what you think!! Many thanks

Hi, my son passed his theory in the 5 days as they go driving in the morning then work on the theory in the afternoon doing lots of practice for this. If they feel you are ready for driving test after 5 days you will be booked in the following week which is great if you pass but costs just under £1000. If you don't pass is where the problems start as they will give you further lessons free until you book another test date then you are on your own so will need to find another instructor to give you lessons up until that next test date, which then is even more expense. Can you check for cancellations for theory test like you can do for test date? My son has now passed we got a cancellation date 10 days after 2nd test, but if we did it again I wouldn't go with 5 day as i feel it is a lot of money esp if you don't pass first time. My son wanted to pass quickly as he needed a car for work but it still took a few months in the end not 5 days! My other friends have found it cheaper booking 2 hour lessons with instructors for a few weeks then putting in for test checking every day for cancellations and passed around the same time as the other man mentioned. Hope this helps and good luck

Please what ever you do save your money an don't go with 5day, go with someone with good reviews 'castle' are a driving school based in Colchester my family have been taught by them and they really are fantastic, they also do crash courses which I done and passed, but if that's not an option for you then thoroughly research another good instructor that can also do crash courses, my advice is definatekybstay away from 5 say they are not worth the money, rude and unhelpful people

If you are a total beginner what is the chances of passing first time? This is an expensive course, I don't want to waste my money. Also do they book your theory test and practical test with the local place? I don't want to have to go to another city to do my practical and theory test.

I honestly wouldnt waste your money with 5 day...there are far better instructors out there...we have spent over a £1000 with them on additional lessons before my sons test...plus if you fail they purposely forget to tell u that the cost of another test is around £130... thats £62 for test. An £50 to hire there car an another £25 for them to fast track u a test date...my son is now learning with bensons who have been great an assured him they will get him through his test...please dont waste your money with 5 day they dont give a damn u fail or pass its just money to them

Our daughter turned 17 on the 4th January 2016 and passed her driving test with 5 day on the 4th February 2016. As parents we took her out on the road as much as possible before going to 5 day in the 2 weeks after her birthday. When she arrived at 5 day she had basic knowledge, was able to use relatively good clutch control and fairly good road sense. She had not practised any theory other than ourselves testing her as much as possible when out and about on the road. She attended the Bristol Centre, she was not familiar with these roads as we live 40 miles away. The 5 day centre booked her theory test which she passed first time and her practical test was also taken in Bristol. I have 3 daughters, with her being the eldest and I can honestly say I will without hesitation be booking my other 2 daughters into 5 day without hesitation when they turn 17. I have nothing but praise for her instructor and the intense classroom theory lessons. She is an excellent driver with very good road sense and I feel very confident driving with her. I think whether driving with 5 day or taking hourly lessons you need to be putting in some work/practice on the roads yourself wherever possible in between or leading up to taking the lessons. I hope this helps and good luck.

So long as your attendance is 100%, if you fail your theory, they'll get you through it with more theory lessons. I don't believe the same holds true for practical; I'd email their customer support and ask.

Impossible; the last day of your course is theory test in the morning, followed by another 4 hours of driving with your instructor. After this, your course is complete, and they can book you in a practical very soon after the end. In my case, I said "yeah sure let's do it" on the Friday, and my practical test was on the following Wednesday. While I was there, people were discussing how long they'd been waiting, and it was on the order of 6 weeks.
