As a 40 year old dad involved in various clubs and activities, I need to be contactable and be able to send texts quickly and simply to groups of people. This phone looks smart and feels robust but is really annoying to use. The menus are badly arranged, the default short cuts are poor and not very short and the texting user interface is terrible (toggle between different modes to choose between upper or lower case or numbers, impossible to add words to the predictive dictionary, need to swap… Read Full Review

It's an alright phone. I do give it credit for such a nice styled bar phone and it's certainly a lot lighter than most phones.
Towards the other comment. The wallpaper changes because of it's flicker sensor feature (which I like). It can be disabled for wallpapers can can be used to switch songs in the media player.
The phone was made by ZTE Corporation… Read Full Review

Agree with many comments on this thread. The phone isn't the best I've ever bought, capitals for texting (eh?), phone locks after a very short time when not in use, the wallpaper changes itsel, there's no means of downloading the text alerts and the choices of alert were awful, as were the ring tone choices. At least I could download something better. And, it doesn't seem like anyone sells a skin or case specifically for that phone. Does anyone know who actually made this model (nokia?)… Read Full Review

very good phone the applications are brilliant and I very much enjoy the music player on it, the camera is qiuck and easy to use aswell. also it is not hard at all to recieve and view your texts and phone calls either. there is a good variety of games to, also it is moderately light so it isn't heavy when you put into your pocket. The style is I think very modern and in my oppinion more stylish then most of the phones in it's category.
However whatever wallpaper you may have on it sometimes the… Read Full Review

Cussed designers have gone out of their way to make things awkward. Horrible SMS alert choices can only be silenced, but not replaced by the user. We specifically wanted sensible text entry, but the Abc option is not included. Predictive text sucks. It is cheap, but still very poor value for money if you plan on using the damn thing… Read Full Review

This is a terrible phone. I decided to buy something cheap and regret my decision. The only good things about it are that it looks OK and my battery life is good. The screen is very hard to see in cetain light conditions. The ring tones are dreadful - there seems to be no facility to change SMS tones to ones of your own. Texting is very unpleasant. Menus are illogical and frustrating. The sound distorts badly if you are on full volume. This is quite highly specified junk. A rotten egg stinks… Read Full Review

stupid menus, cant upload own sms tones (WHY NOT???????), default messaging is CAPS lock, cant add new words to dictionary, doesnt save sent messages, can only hold about 80 messages, address book cant have names longer than a few characters, cant see the screen in daylight, bursts into parts when u drop it, buttons are cheap. menus are stupid and long winded.
good value for price i guess. i bought it because it looked th ebest of the cheap phones and i only needed an emergency one, but dont… Read Full Review

Okay so it's not the most features packed piece of kit on the market. Neither is it the most user friendly, but it does everything I want and for £25 I think it was good value for money.
The best thing about is the fact that it switches itself off at night so that I can't be woken up by Orange's irritating - 'Sorry you didn't top up by £100 this month, no bonus for you'- texts in the middle of the night… Read Full Review

I am aware that ROME(ORANGE) is a cheap phone, but there are too many menus to go through before doing much with it. I have yet to work out how to use the speed dial facility which I have set up. ( on my previous phone you just hold the relevant button down to connect to who you are calling). To hang up after an answerphone reply is really complicated. Not just a case of pressing the red receiver icon. I don't understand the predictive text, and to get to ordinary text method, again there are… Read Full Review

As this was my first new mobile in 8 years i just wanted something simple. However there now appears to be no such thing as a simple mobile. I am very happy with its features but found the user manual to be very poor. Only a small amount of explanation is provided and many menu items are not covered. Maybe all mobiles asume you know how they work. It seems that trial and error is the only way to work out how to use this phone to its full potential. As i know nothing of other products it may… Read Full Review

Bought this phone about 1 week ago previously having owned an Ericsson W302, which was a stylish but ordinary phone. The styling I would say is average, but the predictive text is very good and quick, although caps only is a bit disappointing. Generally speaking navigating around is fast, and simple.
The camera is very good for a 2mp job, the W302 was more expensive but image quality definitely inferior. Battery life good and the Radio self tunes swiftly.
A real dislike is the amount of silly… Read Full Review

I only bought this phone to last me a month whilst I was waiting for a better phone, but I have to admitt that I was pleasantly surprised by what i got for my £30. Previous reviews seem to complain about the fact default text is capitals, all it takes is the click of a key to change it to lower case...it's not hard. I found phone calls were more then adequate and sending texts was simple. I do however agree that there are more than enough submenus, but for £30 i didn't expect perfection. The… Read Full Review

having read some comments below, i conculde that peoples expectations are too high, theyre comparing the ROME to their Blackberrys etc!!! The screen for the price is good, the buttons is size is fine, cameras good, and yes the texting etc isnt as slick as more expensive phones, but what do you expect for the money you've barely spent.... The fact a 30 quid phone can have a 2MP camera, and be clear and easy to use, im happy. My only real annoyance is there are too many submenus between every… Read Full Review

Mediocre phone, although decent looking.
Txt messaging is a PAIN. CAPS is their default txt! Who does that?
Okay screen. Wallpaper doesn't stay on - it selects its own one arbitrarily whenever it wants (or I'm missing something, and even if I am missing something, it shouldn't be that way - ever).
Worst of all - it comes with charger that Orange no longer stocks, so good luck if you lose yours.
Yes, it was the slickest looking phone for the price, and the camera is not bad for… Read Full Review

Great phone, easy to use, has some very impressive and useful features, the only negative comment that i would make is that the buttons are very close together, but really i am nit-picking because overall this is a fantastic phone and is great value for money. Would reccomend to anyone. 10 out of 10!… Read Full Review

After having read these reviews I thought I had bought a different phone as the majority of comments are a load of rubbish.
I had to check I did have an Orange Rome phone.
Firstly you don't need a car charger lead as you have a USB lead with it so all you need is a car adaptor with a USB socket in it.(not rocket science)
Screen quality is very good.
As far as the background always changing the owner obviously hasn't switched off the Flick sensor which changes the screen if you shake it.
So you… Read Full Review

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PHONE!!
The one, simple function I wanted it for - to make and receive telephone calls - is utterly USELESS. The person on the other end of the phone is muffled and I can here a delay of my own voice when I am talking, which is extremely distracting and the person on the other end of the phone can only hear me as a tinny sound, as if I'm far away from the speaker. Don't even get me started on the STUPID text messaging system, in which you can either write in CAPS or… Read Full Review

This a a horrible phone, I hate it! I wanted a basic, easy to use phone, this is so basic its a pain in the ass! I wanted to just do easy quick texts only now i have to go through the motions of getting it to the standard input of either lower case or upper case letters. I love predicive txt but on this phone its impossible as it does not recognise most abreviated words and there is no option of adding them like on most phones. Then you have to tell it to send the message on three different… Read Full Review
