My family and I visited Marshall & Son Motors and chose a VW Polo as a first car for myself. The salesmen were nice, if a little pushy, and recommended the extended warranty which we took out. All was fine the next day when we collected the car and drove it home on the fumes of petrol they had left in an empty tank. One week later the car broke down on my way to work, AA were called out and informed that the head gasket had blown and that the car had been patched up. Marshall & Son Motors claimed that this was standard wear and tear and there was nothing they could do. The extended warranty stood for nothing and we were left on our own. We had to pay for all repair costs at another local garage who were excellent. Trading Standards have heard the same thing time and time again but are unable to do anything. PLEASE check out all reviews before buying a car from these conmen and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

We purchased a used car from this company last year and to say we have had problems is an understatement. We've had to involve the Police and Trading Standards and the end result is still unsatisfactory. Before they have your money the staff are typical friendly salesmen, willing to make you "a great deal" to get you on the road and dropped £150 off the price; but as soon as they have your cash and you have a dodgy car, they soon turn aggressive and unhelpful. No oil in the car, one electric window did not work and a dodgy key remote was nothing compared to the worn out Clutch which needed replacing! We waited several weeks for their "garage" next door to fix the car, a temporary fix was done but we still have problems with the car now. The OTR package warranty was a waste of time as apparently a worn out clutch after 6 weeks is down to "wear and tear" meaning the repairs have cost more than the car cost to purchase! A family friend who is a mechanic visited the garage with the car to speak to a manager but was told they were unavailable, by the same man who told us when we bought the car that he was a Director! It seems strange that the 5* reviews on here seem too good to be true and all have a similar writing style... I emplore you to take your money elsewhere.

Staff friendly hope car is ok but dad will get local police to check out as been scamed before .

I went in yesterday to see a car which was £3549 but when i went today the price jumo to £4549. I spoke to the sales rep I seen yesterday and was told £3549 was without the warrenty and when I went today he tried to lie to me and tell me that he told me soemthing else. I am not stupid but i should have listened to the other reviews and stayed clear of this dealer. when I asked to speak to the management he told me they dont work wednesdays and when i ask for a number he told me that he didn't know it. after 3 minutes i asked him again and he gave it to me. When i called the number the manager was in the next room. I tried to explain that the sales rep was basically saying i was lying but he did't want to listen to me. The manager didn't even apologise for the mistake and paid no attention to me. we are customers and we have rights. No customer service and I agree with the reviews I read about the sale team being inbreeds. Please listen to this review and stay away from this dealer

I looked at several vehicles at different dealers and having been somewhat dissapointed, finally visited Marshall & Sons where all vehicles were under cover and presented very well. The service from Ed was very professional and courteous, test drive was immediately available and the purchase options carefully explained. I was particularly pleased that every effort was made to achieve a delivery of the vehicle on a very short timescale. I would have no hesitation in referring friends or purchasing another vehicle, I found the staff to be polite and very accomodating.

brought a car from marshal and sons had it for to weeks brake pads and discs gone and clutch sticking i wish l never brought a car from them toldme to take it back and thay will sourt it out let u no wat happens

Great customer services when tryin to sell you a car. Car broke down just 36 hours of buying, and Marshall & Son wanted ME to pay towing costs back to garage? Less than 1 week after having the car, had to take back for a full refund. Quick enough taking your money but not too easy to get your money back. Staff are rude, unhelpful and the warrenty isnt worth the paper its printed. Wouldnt use again, and i would strongly recommend you shop around before you even consider buying from these. I was lucky and got a full refund. Oh and the warrenty should be 3 months, ask any garage, not the 14 days offered by Marshall & Son.

I feel sorry for the people who have had a bad experience with these guys as quite frankly, I could not fault anything! Great customer service and felt received great advice from them when I bought my car. Would strongly recommend to anyone! Thanks guys!

Awful. Rude staff. Shoddy cars - they employ a lot of 'car cleaners' for a reason quite obviously. You may as well go to an auction as this is where most of the cars are from anyway - except you would pay less at an auction and still get better service probably.

Spent a long time trying to find the right car for me. Found the whole experience very easy, all too often are car salesmen just trying to grab your money. Marshall and son were very genuine and really helpful. No problems with my car, this will be the first place I go when its time to change. Thank you.
