“United Airlines, the worst”

Written on: 11/04/2014 by luciagcano123 (1 review written)

I do not recommend United Airlines, they are the worst airline I ever had to fly with. The aircrafts are old and the flights are constantly canceled due to technical problems. I've bought a ticket from Sao Paulo to Newark, my flight was canceled three times, I end up in Washington DC and then to Newark on a flight that took almost 24 hours to get home. I've paid 8 thousand for the ticket and what they sold me was not what they deliver, and no refund was issued to me… Read Full Review

Horrible expierence! Not only was my flight delayed and I missed my next flight but the employees were absolutley rude! I missed a very important special event due to their latness and laziness! I waited over 10 minutes for a carry on bag! CARRY ON, because they overbooked their flight. Then when I tried asking question in what was going on they were just rude and treated me as if I was an inconvienance to them! Maybe you shouldnt be working in a customer serivice indusrty! Not only was is bad… Read Full Review

“Very poor experience!!”

Written on: 24/03/2014 by AlbertO'Hara112 (1 review written)

Flying United Airlines Denver to O'Hare in Chicago, then on to South Bend, IN...final destination. Too many flight delays. Once was weather related the rest had to do with replacement of a plane part, logging flight data, routine maintanence checks, sitting on the plane for over an hour waiting to taxi to runway, and therefore, I missed two connections out of O'Hare to SB. I was even told at one point that my connection to SB hadn't left yet, but after power walking to the gate they told me to… Read Full Review

“ Flight changes in 60 days”

Written on: 17/03/2014

I made a reservation to fly from IAH to Anchorage - Made reservation in Jan for flight in June. I have had six flight changes to my reservation since I made the reservation and it is only the middle of March. Every time a change is made, I have to go back in select our seats again - two of on the reservation - every time they separate us. This is a great adventure to see how many times I have to do this before June. Each time I print the information… Read Full Review

Written on: 07/03/2014 by sariahp (1 review written)

After they made a mistake on my ticket, I required a refund. They told me that they were going to send me a credit to my credit card and I received an email confirming the refund. They said I never called. I spent three and a half hrs on the phone with them. I faxed them a copy of my phone bill and email with refund confirmation. They had the nerve to tell me that It was not enough proof that I talked to somebody maybe I was just on hold for that time. I almost cried out of frustration but the… Read Full Review

“United airlines is the worst. I will never use them...”

Written on: 25/02/2014

United airlines is the worst. I will never use them again. I had to cancel a flight due to a illness. I was told I had one year to fly to this or another destination. It was a 200 dollar fee 6 months lTer and it is costing me not only the 200 But a extra :00. To the same destination. My daughter used Hawaii air and the cancellation did not cost her a penny. And it was only 7 dollars extra for the same flight. Mine was 300 plus 200 cancelation. Not to mention the last 2 times I flew… Read Full Review

“My experience using United ”

Written on: 02/02/2014

My trip consisted of three flights each to and fro. Going went pretty smooth with the exception of a two hour delay due to mechanical issues. It turned a six hour flight into a eight plus hour flight as we sat on the plane for two hours waiting for the mechanics to clear the plane for departure. That was ok as I woudn't want the plane to break down. My return trip however was a nightmare. My first flight went ok with the exception that I was charged to check in my bag. I'm military and was told… Read Full Review

Catinou's Response to Janet20's Review

You have to be joking! Or maybe work for the airline? Our trip was on Jan 1st 2014 and - It started with the online check in when we discovered that although we were a party of 2 people we were seated two rows apart. The only available 2 seats together were the last at the back next to the toilets -unless we wanted to pay $119 each to sit in spaces with a little extra room. The luggage allowance is the usual miserly 23 kgs, with a case measurement restriction thrown in for good measure. The cost of an extra bag would be $100 compared to £39 last year with BA.

At the airport United loading is divided into numbered groups, printed on the boarding passes, and being in row 40, as far back as you can sit in the plane, we thought they would load the back passengers first - no! They started with the usual First and Business class etc. then loaded from the front to the back! This caused a worse than usual "scrum" in the aisles as passengers searched for empty lockers for hand luggage and sorted themselves out, blocking the aisle, whilst we were told to board as quickly as possible.

The 757 has to be the most uncomfortable squashed plane to travel on with narrow seats, little leg room and just 2 rows of 3 seats across and not enough space for hand luggage (an announcement said " we notice a lot of passengers have coats and there is not enough room for coats and hand luggage in the lockers - it was 1st January flying from Washington to London so yes, we had coats!!")- even worse than the Qantas flight we had to and from Hong Kong and we thought that was a bad experience!

Sitting in the rear seats , which are known to have no adjustment it was fairly disconcerting to be pushed in the back every time a crew member shoved something behind my seat, with no apology. The plane is so small that every time one of the several overweight stewards or passengers went by I was knocked on the shoulder by their hips.

The service is appalling, the seats uncomfortable and the food terrible.

Meals - offered beef cannelloni - actually served what tasted like a cheese and spinach dish.
Coffee was served to most passengers, including my husband, sitting next to me and the guy in the window seat, but as moving the trolley to allow passengers returning from the toilet was more important than finishing serving coffee after the meal, the fourth trolley move then seemed to mean the trolley HAD to go to the other end and was not seen again!

When a coffee was requested from another steward about 10 minutes later ( he was collecting empty coffee cups!) he said he didn't "mind" serving it if I told him how I wanted it - 2 hours later I gave up waiting and took my painkillers without a drink. Ignorance and surliness seemed to be the order of the day - in spite of being welcomed on board over the loud speaker system at least 5 times before and after take off. Although, the stewards spent a lot of time talking loudly and laughing even louder in the galley behind us and the "landing announcement" included the usual " thank you for flying with United" but with the added " it's been fun!" added - not for the passengers it wasn't.

Although we were offered water several times during the 6.5 hour flight, you are charged for anything other than a soft drink and even those consisted of one can between 2 people poured into the small plastic cups - so much for hydration on a long haul flight.

If good money is paid to the airline they should be able to get some of the things right, suffice to say this is the first and absolutely the last time we will be flying with United airlines.

We were warned by several frequent travellers to avoid United Airlines travel but it was slightly cheaper when booking so we tried it. It's back to BA from now on - more comfortable planes, more leg room and certainly greater attendance and service. - all the " welcome a boards" and "have a nice flight" let alone the " thank you for flying Uniteds" don't make up for the dreadful journey which spoiled our annual trip to see our family, including our only grandchildren.

“Such an amazing experience”

Written on: 30/12/2013 by AmandaSeattle (1 review written)

My husband, dog, and I had the best and most uneventful flying experience we have ever had on our last flight home from visiting family for the holidays. We brought our little dog as my emotional therapy pet and she sits on my lap for flights. When we checked in, the lady was especially helpful and asked if we would prefer a direct flight at a later time, but would be arriving at the same time, due to the flight being overbooked - of course we did! Then, when we were on the plane, the flight… Read Full Review

“Get what u pay for - nada !!”

Written on: 22/12/2013 by Hollyschach (1 review written)

The idea of flying to the Bahamas for winter break is great! However, start to check in at Newark airport and you know there will be an issue when you need to leave your bag in a baggage pen - or "baggage drop". Seems the folks who are paid by united cannot read nor process numbers - as they cannot get bags marked PRIORITY in big red tickets onto the correct plane. So - I'm in the Bahamas with my jeans, long sleeves and sandals - but nothing else - because I chose to PAY to have my luggage… Read Full Review

“DISABLED PERSONS BEWARE”

Written on: 03/12/2013

My 84 year old parents were flying United out of Newark. Both required wheelchairs. They were wheeled to the gate and left there 90 minutes before take-off. Meanwhile their gate changed and no one bothered to help them so they missed their flight. After sitting in the airport for 4-1/2 additional hours, the United agent asked why their wheelchairs were gone. Since the staff took them away from my parents they did not have an answer. The agent then asked if they would need wheelchairs for the… Read Full Review

“International Flight - Left stranded in another country”

Written on: 13/11/2013 by Mick990 (1 review written)

My recent flight on United Airlines was very disappointing, to the point I will refuse to fly this incompetent airline again! I had several problems on this one flight from Houston to Bristol England. 1) The worst of the problems was that one of my flights was cancelled due to technical problems, they re-routed us to a different location (city) and promised to get us to our final destination. They did not get us to our final destination! When we arrived at the re-routed city, no one was there… Read Full Review
