Bad customer service. I was given incorrect information about my initial reservation and then was completely unable to get any help from their useless customer service. I must have wasted 4 phone calls and a number of e-mails but failed to find any one who would actually listened to my problem, let alone help me with it. There are so many other better airlines. Lost baggage in ORD, another airline actually found baggage but United and baggage customer service were unable to trace our lost baggage. We had to call another airline's tracking service to find our luggage, which has been in ORD airport for 6 days… Read Full Review

I truly cannot fly this airline anymore after my last mishap with this airline. They completely botched my last reservation and changed it and we didn't realise. So I ended up holding tickets where my infant daughter flew by herself and her parents flew on another flight! I bet you would say that is not believable, but believe it. I have flown with a few airlines and this is pretty good. The cabin was nice and the fact that they give you something to watch and listen to is also good. Overall, we were satisfied with the airline, service and the flight in general. Clean and comfortable plane. We also flew to San Francisco, Las Vegas then back to Australia and have no complaints at all. I travelled with 'TED' by United Airlines from Chicago (ORD) to Las Vegas on 19th Feb 2007. After a transatlantic flight with BMI, which was excellent, I checked in 6 hours early, ensuring with the ground-staff this would be OK. Upon landing, my friend and I found our baggage had not arrived on our flight, there was a 'secure' baggage area next to the conveyor belt, and luckily my friend's bag was in there. I have a travel certificate I received for being bumped from a United flight. I am unable to use it because no one at United wants to take responsibility for processing the travel certificate. I am unable to find a valid address for United Airlines Customer Relations, and the address on their website is invalid. My mail was returned to me with "No Such Address" on it.

We were to be in Kauai for a spring break this year, it did not happen. United Airlines ticket sales booked us on a flight from Chicago to San Francisco then on to Kauai. The flight from Chicago was scheduled to arrive only 30 minutes before our flight out to Kauai was to leave. We were to get a connecting flight via Chicago to go to San Jose in California. The status on the board showed no delay information. No announcements were made by the United staff.
We had to keep standing in line to ask for status. After 5 hours of waiting, all we were told is that your flight will take off to Chicago but from Chicago we can't give you anything. There was a possibility we would be stuck there until Monday!

After a long holiday in California, it was time to head back to London. Only the day before the terrorist alert turned orange.
Though without checking the BA website we headed to the airport. It was there that we realised BA284 was cancelled, and that we would have to line up in the "Supervisor queue".

Do not rely on the fact that your flights were OK with United to continue using them. It is when something goes wrong you will realize how horrible they are. United was my preferred airline since 1999. My departure flight was delayed, which is fine, so I ran to arrive to the gate of my connecting flight at Washington Dulles at the last minute, a few minutes before the gates are closed. OK, I haven't travelled yet but there was a SNAFU when I tried to apply the credit from a previous partially cancelled ticket. When I previously cancelled my flight for a credit, they told me the amount credited but didn't properly explain some additional restrictions. So when I called this time, after getting my call dropped twice, I finally got through to an agent who at first wasn't going to let me use my $250 credit from a previous cancellation.
