We were to get a connecting flight via Chicago to go to San Jose in California. The status on the board showed no delay information. No announcements were made by the United staff.
We had to keep standing in line to ask for status. After 5 hours of waiting, all we were told is that your flight will take off to Chicago but from Chicago we can't give you anything. There was a possibility we would be stuck there until Monday!
We didn't want to spend a night at Chicago airport, so we had to… Read Full Review

Bad customer Care! Anytime they delay, they just show the time delay and never announce why is that happening.
Also, the customer care walked away and left all the customers behind waiting and worrying about their plane… Read Full Review

After a long holiday in California, it was time to head back to London. Only the day before the terrorist alert turned orange.
Though without checking the BA website we headed to the airport. It was there that we realised BA284 was cancelled, and that we would have to line up in the "Supervisor queue".
It was however closed, and we had to wait for nearly an hour. During that period a news crew arrived and began interviewing us. Finally we arrived at the desk, where a supervisor tapped on her… Read Full Review

I am just trying to get my parents money back. The reason that I decided to write a blog was because they steadfastly refuses to refund the money, despite their admission to having problems with the reservation system. Why should my parents be charged for UAL's technical difficulties? http://evilunitedairlines.blogspot.com… Read Full Review

Below is the letter I wrote to United Airlines regarding my recent Flight/Booking Experiences:
When I booked a flight with United, I expected the highest level of service. My experience though proved the complete opposite.
First of all when I flew to New York from San Jose we had to run through O'Hara airport to catch our connecting flight #686, which was a walking distance of 45 minutes. Then United hurried to complete boarding the plane but there was no pilot in… Read Full Review

United is a great airline. I am very impressed every time I fly with them. They treat you right and make flying fun again. United is one of the only airlines that really stands out as a good airline… Read Full Review

Do not rely on the fact that your flights were OK with United to continue using them. It is when something goes wrong you will realize how horrible they are. United was my preferred airline since 1999. My departure flight was delayed, which is fine, so I ran to arrive to the gate of my connecting flight at Washington Dulles at the last minute, a few minutes before the gates are closed. The agent at the gate had my boarding pass printed but refused to board me because he had given my seat to… Read Full Review

OK, I haven't travelled yet but there was a SNAFU when I tried to apply the credit from a previous partially cancelled ticket. When I previously cancelled my flight for a credit, they told me the amount credited but didn't properly explain some additional restrictions. So when I called this time, after getting my call dropped twice, I finally got through to an agent who at first wasn't going to let me use my $250 credit from a previous cancellation. After talking with them they resolved it well… Read Full Review

I flew First Class with them from L.A. to New York. The flight left on time, and the lounges at LAX and JFK were comfortable. The overall United Airlines experience was nothing spectacular, and I only fly with United on this route because American Airlines is deplorable… Read Full Review

Avoid travelling on United because if you have to cancel for some reason, you can't get the same value for the tickets.

We were taking a big holiday to Las Vegas, then onto Hawaii and ending our holiday in Orlando. We booked with Virgin who were rubbish. We had flights with many carriers and we found United to be the best. They upgraded us for nothing because a window seat had not been booked, the service at the airport was brilliant, the staff helped us out with finding our way around and the attendant on the plane could not do enough for us. Thank you United… Read Full Review

The United Airlines flight was delayed due to a computer failure, but no one communicated that to the passengers. After four hours of waiting, the flight was cancelled. Then I was flown to LAX, where I waited for another delayed flight. This one was delayed for no apparent reason (the computer said a crew problem later). Then we sat on the runway for another hour and a half. Trip time: 8 hours +. Time to drive: 5 hours. Ridiculous!!… Read Full Review

My family and I have flown with United Airlines three separate times in the last two months. Here's the rundown:
1. My parents flew from ORD to MEM over Labor Day weekend that Monday night (to return home to Memphis). The flight was supposed to leave around 7pm, but it was delayed. And delayed. They did not leave Chicago until 10pm - the Memphis airport had to stay open after-hours to receive the flight. Not a good experience, but it could have been much worse. Like the next two incidents.

I normally try to avoid United Airlines in general, but we made the tickets too late to have much of a choice. Our flight was meant to leave at 8:30am from Seattle, so my wife and I got to the airport around 6:00, and we just barely made it through security in time to discover the flight had been delayed for two hours. Apparently our connection through Chicago was delayed because of bad weather, which we were OK with of course. They boarded us at 10:30, even while the mechanics had ripped… Read Full Review

My united Airlines flight was delayed in 3 different cities with no answers. A 4 hour flight took 19 hours and 30 minutes to get from Wyoming to Grand Rapids, MI. To top it all off, when I got home at 1am the following day, when I was supposed to land in GR at 2:00pm, they lost my baggage. I have flown over 50 times, mostly on Northwest Airlines, and I have never had to deal with such a poor service. I will walk, run, take a train, bus or car before I will fly with United Airlines again. It… Read Full Review

I just returned from a trip from Los Angeles Airport (LAX), and witnessed a complete lack of caring by United Airlines employees for the welfare of passengers. At 4:30AM on Saturday morning at LAX, there were long lines at the United ticket counters. Passengers who had arrived more than an hour prior to their scheduled departure were stuck in line, unable to get any help from the few employees who were present. Many missed their flights. When I got through security, there was a very long… Read Full Review

Firstly, the customer service is terrible. You're in trouble if you need to make a change to your flight. Not only do they make you pay a $100 fee for any changes, but they also keep you on the line for an hour to send you a confirmation email. The reason is explained by the agent on the phone as "it takes a long time to send a confirmation email", believe it or not. So, agents are generally unable to help you through your problems. Most of the agents' accents are really hard to understand, and… Read Full Review

Very old, civil war era plane, and they actually have smoking rows! They stopped building planes with smoking rows over 20 years ago!
The plane was two hours late. We boarded on time, but we had to spend those two hours on the runaway, which I can assure you, is no fun. The cause was some mechanical problem. I've flown United a total of 4 times in my life, and 3 to 4 times the plane was delayed by an hour or more.
No leg room whatsoever, unless you pay $150 to upgrade your seat, and get 6… Read Full Review
