Avoid travelling on United because if you have to cancel for some reason, you can't get the same value for the tickets.
Calling up several times will just frustrate you so much!… Read Full Review

We were taking a big holiday to Las Vegas, then onto Hawaii and ending our holiday in Orlando. We booked with Virgin who were rubbish. We had flights with many carriers and we found United to be the best. They upgraded us for nothing because a window seat had not been booked, the service at the airport was brilliant, the staff helped us out with finding our way around and the attendant on the plane could not do enough for us. Thank you United… Read Full Review

The United Airlines flight was delayed due to a computer failure, but no one communicated that to the passengers. After four hours of waiting, the flight was cancelled. Then I was flown to LAX, where I waited for another delayed flight. This one was delayed for no apparent reason (the computer said a crew problem later). Then we sat on the runway for another hour and a half. Trip time: 8 hours +. Time to drive: 5 hours. Ridiculous!!… Read Full Review

My family and I have flown with United Airlines three separate times in the last two months. Here's the rundown:
1. My parents flew from ORD to MEM over Labor Day weekend that Monday night (to return home to Memphis). The flight was supposed to leave around 7pm, but it was delayed. And delayed. They did not leave Chicago until 10pm - the Memphis airport had to stay open after-hours to receive the flight. Not a good experience, but it could have been much worse. Like the next two incidents.

I normally try to avoid United Airlines in general, but we made the tickets too late to have much of a choice. Our flight was meant to leave at 8:30am from Seattle, so my wife and I got to the airport around 6:00, and we just barely made it through security in time to discover the flight had been delayed for two hours. Apparently our connection through Chicago was delayed because of bad weather, which we were OK with of course. They boarded us at 10:30, even while the mechanics had ripped… Read Full Review

My united Airlines flight was delayed in 3 different cities with no answers. A 4 hour flight took 19 hours and 30 minutes to get from Wyoming to Grand Rapids, MI. To top it all off, when I got home at 1am the following day, when I was supposed to land in GR at 2:00pm, they lost my baggage. I have flown over 50 times, mostly on Northwest Airlines, and I have never had to deal with such a poor service. I will walk, run, take a train, bus or car before I will fly with United Airlines again. It… Read Full Review

I just returned from a trip from Los Angeles Airport (LAX), and witnessed a complete lack of caring by United Airlines employees for the welfare of passengers. At 4:30AM on Saturday morning at LAX, there were long lines at the United ticket counters. Passengers who had arrived more than an hour prior to their scheduled departure were stuck in line, unable to get any help from the few employees who were present. Many missed their flights. When I got through security, there was a very long… Read Full Review

Firstly, the customer service is terrible. You're in trouble if you need to make a change to your flight. Not only do they make you pay a $100 fee for any changes, but they also keep you on the line for an hour to send you a confirmation email. The reason is explained by the agent on the phone as "it takes a long time to send a confirmation email", believe it or not. So, agents are generally unable to help you through your problems. Most of the agents' accents are really hard to understand, and… Read Full Review

Very old, civil war era plane, and they actually have smoking rows! They stopped building planes with smoking rows over 20 years ago!
The plane was two hours late. We boarded on time, but we had to spend those two hours on the runaway, which I can assure you, is no fun. The cause was some mechanical problem. I've flown United a total of 4 times in my life, and 3 to 4 times the plane was delayed by an hour or more.
No leg room whatsoever, unless you pay $150 to upgrade your seat, and get 6… Read Full Review

I would probably not fly with United Airlines again if I had a choice. I flew from Dallas to Denver and I arrived 1 hour early with no baggage to check. I was told the wrong gate of departure at Dallas/Fort Worth airport. I finally arrived at the gate 25 minutes before the departure time, and I was denied boarding because I wasn't there 30 minutes before boarding. This delayed me about 3 to 4 hours to the next flight. I am 5 foot 3 inches in height, and my knees were cramped to the seat in… Read Full Review

The United Airline flight I experienced made me never want to fly with them again. I never thought of United as a nice or quality airline, and my experience reinforced that much more. The plane was ancient, and it was making very strange noises that had my sister and I nervous for our lives. The service was almost non-existent. Part of my group was split up because United messed up our tickets, and we all weren't near each other, but I was able to sit near my sister due to the kindness of the… Read Full Review

The United Airlines ticket agent was sweet until things started to go bad. Then she disappeared. Yes, she just left.
Re-booking a flight after the plane breaks down. Take my word for it. Just go home and get what ever money they will give you. United could not get me from Chicago to Detroit for two days after one of their RJ-145's broke down. That would have been the day I was returning. Then they would not refund my change fee of $100.00 after THEY cancelled the flight and I wanted my money… Read Full Review

My experience on United Airlines has been excellent, although I often hear people complain about them. Our flights were on time, and though the food was not spectacular (but what do people expect? Just think about the number of meals distributed in one day among just United - they do a great job) it was a great experience. People should really consider the way United is dedicated to safety in all of its manifestations. What I really appreciate is the professional staff. The attendants were… Read Full Review

I booked a United Airlines flight out of Burlington (Vermont) to Sydney (Australia), with stops in Chicago and Los Angeles. The flight out of Chicago was late of more than 90 minutes and we were very close to miss our connection in LA. They wouldn't close the door of the plane even after we were suppose to have taken off. At first, they said it was the weather (Chicago in December, it was indeed likely), then they said it was the de-icing, then they said they had to put more luggage in the… Read Full Review

I always had high expectations about United but everything proved to be much better even than I expected; food was tasteful and of good quantity; all flights were on time; planes are up to date and very well mentained- much legroom in Economy Plus; drinks were offered all 30 min. I could find some of my favourite music and films in their IFE; staff extremely polite, helpful and friendly(especially on IAD-FRA); All in all, I haven't been so satisfied with a flight or an airline for a long time… Read Full Review

I flew with United for the first time on Feb 1st 06 from London Heathrow-New York JFK and I have to say that the service was absolutely fantastic. I travelled in economy on the outbound leg of the trip and found the service and manner of the staff to be excellent, they treat you like they actually care about you not like most airlines who just want to feed you, shut you up and get you off the plane. The food was very good indeed I had a roast chicken dinner with all the veg followed by various… Read Full Review

I just recently going on a buisness trip from Chicago Illinois to Springfield Illinois. I decided to fly United Express to Springfield so I would not have to drive. I got to Ohare Airport(Ord) in Chicago and I got right on the plane and everything was very old. This plane was a J-41 plane just a regional Jet plane. When we got off the runway there was a huge sound that came from the back of the plane and then the whole plane smelled like smoke. Then a flight attendant came to me and told me to… Read Full Review

Having just returned yesterday I feel compeled to warn other travellers on the disgusting service recieved by United Airlines ground staff. My flight was London Heathrow to McCarran International Airport via Chicago. From check in at Heathrow the service recieved was horrific to say the least the problem continued with instances too complex to detail but the end result was delayed baggage and a threat of cancelled return ticket and arrest due to my complaint of lost baggage.
