Having just returned from Egypt and a Nile cruise on The Royal Viking I cannot recommend it highly enough. We were not quite sure what to expect but it was SUPERB.
Our cabin was very comfortable and the standard of food was generally very good, though some meat dishes were sometimes overcooked and a little chewy. Having heard so many tales about sickness on Nile cruises, we avoided salads - until, that is, we went on the tour of the kitchens. We couldn't believe how high the standards of… Read Full Review

This is the second cruise we have taken with Viking Travel and will no doubt be returning. The quality of the accomodation is excellent, the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. And Egypt - well it's fantastic. Highly recommended!… Read Full Review

Excellent value with Discover Egypt.
Excellent excursions & guides.
We would go again tomorrow, but waitng for cooler weather.

Just returned and had quite possibly the best holiday of my life.
The Royal Viking staff were friendly, the food was good, the rooms were clean and we enjoyed the excursions (even though they meant early starts).
From what I have heard it is worth having the extra cost of drinks in order to go for a 5*… Read Full Review

We have just returned from a week's cruise on the Royal Viking. The ship is 5 star rated and very comfortable. There is a large bar/lounge, restaurant, sundeck and plunge pool. All were scrupulously clean and tidy apart from the plunge pool which suiffered from guests' sun oil and other preparations. There is a shower available to wash that all off before one gets into the pool but when we were there, few people used it. The staff and crew are all charming and helpful and the tour guide… Read Full Review

Our trip was from 8 June 2009 on Royal Viking. A lovely ship and helpful staff! We took the upgrade cabin (worth it) and it was very clean and smart. There were only 50 guests on board, instead of 150 which we were pleased about because otherwise it would have been too crowded and I doubt the dining facilities could have coped with more.
Trip certainly worth doing but have couple of days rest before traveling; you'll be getting up very early!!
Take loads of money c £200 each and Egyptian… Read Full Review

There are over 300 cruise boats on the Nile, but only one Royal Viking. Discover Egypt have a few boats they use - Viking III and the Royal Viking (Viking Premier is currently being renovated), and a couple of more expensive boats. I can highly recommend the Royal Viking. My daughter and I spent a week in May on it, and the tour guides/egyptologists are brilliant. You're very much protected from a lot of the hassle, and if you ever have any problems with any of the traders, the tour guides… Read Full Review

The Discover Egypt Royal Viking is a new boat, very clean, good food, friendly staff. If you have decided that a Nile Cruise is for you then I can highly recommend this lovely new boat. There are 350 of Discover Egypt Royal Viking boats between Luxor and Aswan which means you can be moored 6 deep and the diesel fumes from the generators mean you will not be able to open your window or spend time on the top deck. On leaving Luxor there may well be many other boats leaving at the same time… Read Full Review
