This is not a review, but is a list of places where you can find ringtones, wallpapers & screensavers etc for your SAGEM MY-X5 and MY-G5.
More and more SAGEM users are actually starting to create their OWN websites specifically for these phones (MY-G5 and MY-X5). You will find things such as polyphonic ringtones, musical ringtones, wallpapers, sceensavers etc. and more and more files will be added to these sites in next to no time!
Remember that you first need to buy a DATA CABLE (£12) and download some free UPLOADING SOFTWARE in order to start uploading ringtones & wallpapers etc to your phone.
Get the sagem my-X5 data cable for £12 directly from the sagem online shop, it's the same one that is used for the sagem my-G5 too. it works the same for both models:
http://www.sagem-online.com
(allow about 10-14 days for it to be deilvered to your house, and delivery is free.)
Then you need to download the free Sagem My Pictures and Sounds uploading software from here:
http://www.sagemonline.com/EN/faq/gsm/faq_gsm.htm
And once you have both of these items, you are now ready to start getting some free ringtones/wallpapers for your my-G5!
GO TO THESE DOWNLOAD SITES:
http://www.mysagem.co.uk/
(SpunkyMunky's website, very good)
http://uk.geocities.com/polysagem/index.html
(A good site, with good downloads. More Midis than anything else.)
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/mysagem/
(A valuable source of info, and downloads for the Sagem MYX-5)
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nik99net/
(Another good Sagem MYX-5 and MYG-5 group)
http://sagem-myx5.chez.tiscali.fr/
(A French site with a good choice of stuff to download)
http://www.cjtonline.net/sagem/
(Seej's Sagem my-X5 and my-G5 website)
http://members.lycos.co.uk/sagemx5/
(Another sagem user's website, he has just started it)
http://www.ewtoo.org/~matt/sagem/
(There's Some nice stuff here too)
http://www.planetsagem.com
(A site created by sagem for sagem users, but it has very poor quality design and content in all honesty, best to avoid this website until they improve imo. i just put the link here so you know what/where it is)
Have fun!!!
BY THE WAY, THE SAGEM MY-G5 ROCKS! FINALLY, A STYLISH HANDSET SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR MOBILE GAMING!!
Cheers guys ;)

Written on: 10/01/2003 by VIC. (1 review written)

I received my X-5 free as an upgrade through Orange. It's a lovely size and the speaker phone is a great idea. The lack of "normal" ringtones is frustrating. I don't particularly want the sound of a fog horn or dog barking ringing out when I'm on a packed train. … Read Full Review

I got mine free with Orange too, which is pretty remarkable when you have a butchers at the Sagem website - it's listed for something like £360 there! Think you're being a bit harsh with your review though. There is a normalish ring tone you can select. I know what you mean about the dogs and fog horn though - it can make you look pretty stupid in public! I downloaded Pearl and Dean to it via a data cable (the actual soundtrack, not some plinky plonky nonsense), which has earned some respect in the office, although it's still a mite embarassing when you're in the barber's. Battery life isn't great though. Orange quotes 10 days standby time - it's more like 6.

Written on: 05/01/2003 by Ally G. (1 review written)

I've gone through a Siemans M35i and a Motorola Timeport 260 in the past year. I needed a cool phone (Only 16) for a cool price, this was the phone I wanted. I was on Virgin mobile and wanted to stay, so I started looking for SIM free mobiles as I didn't need another SIM card. All the 'Cool' mobiles were in the £200 region, I couldn't afford this. So I had to put my buying off till I could afford one of them. Then I went into a Virgin Megastore and saw the Sagem myX-5 for £139.99, a 'Cool'… Read Full Review

Had a motorola v60i which ended up dead after an accident. I was going to opt for the samsung t100, but then after calculating the cost effect, the Sagem MY X-5 is excellent for its price.

GPRS, wap works for sure, i have tested them myself. You can upload wav as ringtones (any wav file) and bmp as wallpapers. The 256 colour screen is wonderful, far better than monochrome screens. I have used a sony ericsson t68i, and the colour screen are almost the same..

Since gaining this Sagem MY X-5 phone on Monday (29th Dec 02) i have found this phone very easy to use. I had it for £139.99 on Virgin Mobile with £35 free airtime. The colour screen on it is very good although not as good as higher priced coloured screen phones. This can be expected though although the screen is fully coloured.

To all people who are looking for a place to download sagem my-x5 logos, wallpapers and ringtones. go to
www.uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nik99net/
you have to have a Yahoo ID but this is very easy to get and once you are logged in you will find a great selection of ringtones, wallpapers and other cool stuff.
i have found this site very useful.
PS you must have a data cable to download free sagem my x5 logos and wallpapers otherwise you will have to pay around 3 pounds to get one from one of those horrible places like monkey mob or monster mob etc. You will also have to download sagem my pictures and logos at www.sagem.com or Plug In Out, a great feature that lets you choose any bmp or gif or whatever picture as an image, make it fit on the screen of the phone, and then send it to your sagem My-X5 via the data cable (look on ebay for a cheap one)

Let it be known, this phone is a good phone for £130, I got it for Christmas on T-Mobile (UK). I hear people moaning about the reception, but with me, it's fine and much better than my last phone (Nokia 3510). The thing that attracted me to this phone was probably the colour screen and the fact that it looks good too. The colour screen is good, although it isn't quite as colourful as others I have seen. This phone has tried to live up to to the Ericsson T68, it's very similar. The keypad is… Read Full Review

Despite the huge interest in this colour phone {Due to the really low price of it, as it costs around £40} Its really nothing to get excited about The sagem really doesn't do anything special. Plus it has appauling sound and reception compared to the competing colourscreen phones. Firstly, if you're unerrating it because the price doesn't make it feel like a "good" phone, then you're stupid. Also, if we wanted a camera in a phone, we'd buy a camera. Phones are always thinking of extras first and calling second. Luckily, this phone doesn't and STILL has the best features. It is without a doubt the most customisable phone EVER. This is why I hesitated to buy a Nokia, I didn't want a phone evryone else had, and I'm glad I did hesitate. I don't want to be carrying the same phone as my friend (3310 people will know this) so I bought this phone, and I've never found ONE fault. I make my own tones wallpaper e.t.c. and they're fine. The sheer ignorance of you makes me laugh. You probably never even owned this phone. You prbably read a review of it, and made an opinion judging on other people's thought.

My X-5 does nothing special?? How about the ability to have absolutely any sound you can record on your computer as a ring tone? How about the ability to have any image you want as wallpaper? And how about some pretty funky screensavers - you can add new ones as gifs. Poor sound and reception? Hello? I didn't want a phone with a camera, especially as you still have to pay a fortune in the shops and when you get your phone bill. What I did want was a modern handset that wasn't owned by every Tom, Dick and Harry. And Orange had it - for free.

Written on: 29/11/2002

hi joanne,
you're right, the myx5 is a very good phone. It makes a change from having the same nokia phone as everyone else, but most importantly it's actually a quality handset in it's own right. I have the sagem myG5 which is the gameboy-lookalike phone. It's very similar to the myx5 in terms of its firmware, a lot of the menu screens are the same but crucially it's specifically enhanced for mobile phone video-gaming. its the best mobile phone for playing games by a streak due to it's gameboy style control pad and action buttons. It's the worlds first true GAMEPHONE. but enough of that, maybe I can help you with your myx5:
for background wallpapers go to:
http://www.esato.com
http://www.t68.info
you can download wallpapers from their wap sites thru your phone...
http://wap.esato.com
http://wap.t68.info
instructions for changing operator logos on the myx5:
because the myx5 is one of these new 2.5G phones, it uses something called EMS messaging (not sms). ems means enhanced messaging service, it's very similar to sms but it's just so much better, allowing you to insert things like ringtones, graphics, screensavers etc all into one standard text message. so you can send & receive text and a musical ringtone in the same message, provided the other peerson you send it to also has an ems capable phone. Note: ems is NOT the same as MMS messaging, ems uses the same network infrastructure as sms, unlike mms. ems is basically the halfway point between sms and mms. sms was for the 2G phones like the nokia 3310, ems is for the new 2.5G phones like the ericsson t65, and mms is for the 3G phones which will allow you to watch videos and football highlights for example. So since the myx5 is an EMS capable phone, in order to change the operator logo on it you have to get the logo/picture message sent to you in EMS format. If you try doing it the way you are used to with nokia phones (by sms) it wont work because it MUST be done in ems format. Just search the net for 72x14 format EMS logos. Or you can try getting them from these sites:
http://www.personalizedmobile.com
http://www.toyafone.com
http://www.mobilekub.com
as for polyphonic ringtones:
i'm not so sure about places for poly ringtones just yet, but if i find any i'll let you know. I hope this helps :)

I chose this phone over the Sony Ericcsson T68i, firstly because of the styling and secondly because of its originality. There are too many "standard" brands on the market and not many people own a SAGEM. I was very impressed with the features of this phone and the ease of use. This is a very user friendly mobile with lots of useful features. SaGem have been playing the low end of the market for the past 2 years with cheap pay as you go phones then out of nowhere comes the X-5! It has borrowed many features from other manufactures and added some unique ideas itself. And overall it works! Horace, I don't think you can have been using your Sagem for very long. There is a recognised problem with the battery meter - several users on this forum have commented on it - and as for your words on phone reception: nonsense! If you've ever been outside a city you'd know that reception varies enormously. There are still many parts of the UK that a mobile phone just won't work in (national parks etc), and certain handsets (especially those with external aerials) DO work better. Finally, I'm not embarrassed when I get my My-x5 out of my pocket. In fact I wouldn't be embarrassed if I still had my previous hadset - a 3330. Who gives a damn what your phone looks like? As long you're happy with it!
