ive been using this on my cat for a few years, no problems or strange behaviour, although a friend of mine is convinced advocate killed his cat. i used this treatment on my cat today as i do every few months and he became very agitated and withdrawn, we washed it off straight away. i went online to find some reviews and found there were so many people with this problem, i seriously believe this product should be taken off the market until it is proved to be safe to ALL cats. And to those who do… Read Full Review

I was given Advocate for small cats by the Vet on Saturday, I put on both of my kittens on the Sunday morning by lunch time I noticed dying fleas were literally falling off of my kittens, like rats leaving a sinking ship! I never even noticed the fleas before and wasn't going to treat them but really pleased I did. I gave them both a good brush which revealed more fleas. I hope they're all gone now. Kittens were scratching for a few hours after application but that was obviously because the… Read Full Review

Having read the previous review where someone said that 'Advocate' is dangerous and it made their cats hair fall out, I seriously have to say, that I think this is a case of the cat maybe having an allergic reaction - pretty rare. I have 5 cats ageing from 10 to 6 months and have always used 'Advocate' on them all! This is the best duo flea/worming product available and I buy it from my vets every month. It is highly recommended over 'Frontline' and other flea treatments. I have had no… Read Full Review

hello, my name is Andy and my cat is called Tesla. i had taken my cat to the vet and he gave her a clean bill of health, did a blood test and said she was very healthy with a beautiful coat. she didnt have fleas and is a house cat but he told us to put on advocate anyway. with in 1 day she began to act odd, staring into space and not eating, she just slept alot, 2-3 days after she appeared to recover but was still odd.just after a week she started to get ill so we rushed her back to the vet and… Read Full Review

we used this product after our 5 month old cat was teaming with fleas (we found her as a stray and she had clearly been in that state for a while.) it got rid of all the fleas she had and visibly made a difference as she stopped itching practically the day after. she had no adverse side effects dispite our worry as the label warns of it. down side was the difficulty of getting it on her, she's a very wiggly cat and after the treatment got a little disgruntled, other than that it's an excellent… Read Full Review

My cat had small sores on his chin and at the base of his ears, they were more crusty than sore and they had been there for some time with out causing him any discomfort, I thought they were from his hunting. I treated him with Advocate as he had fleas, it did get rid of the fleas but after about two days. He had been aloof for a while and about five days after treatment I was shocked to see his head, he had scratched so badly that the top of his head was bleeding and he had lost alot of this… Read Full Review

This product is OK for my generic "moggie" but has brought my Turkish Van Kedisi cross (with a ginger tom) out in a ruddy rash. She became very distressed and agitated and has been off her food for 24 hours. She now refuses to allow to me stroke her and is clearly afraid I will "hurt" her again. Beyer really do need a warning over this, as does my vet - which he will receive.
The maufacturer should clearly state in BLOCK CAPITALS that there is serious risk of adverse reaction to this drug… Read Full Review

I applied this product to my cat of 19 months-he was traumatised and clearly distressed by the product-likewise I found a burning sensation around my mouth and tried to rube water into to his fur to relieve him of this chemical reaction. I will not use it again and I will contact my Vet Surgery as it is clearly not suitable for him.
Your survey above is not appropriate-I would not give it a rating… Read Full Review

I have been using Front line on our cats for about a year and have found that the fleas just keep coming back - I used advocate on them a week ago and the fleas have completely gone - not even any flea dirt! I didnt notice a smell either. It does cost a little more than other products but its worth it for the peace of mind! I would defiantely recommend this product and will continue to use it… Read Full Review

My cats have always had Advocate and and I have never had any fleas on them. My dog had a dose of it once, she shook herself in my living room and took the colour out of my leather suite where the droplets landed! Apart from that I have been very pleased with this product… Read Full Review

I bought this product for my Bengal after receiving assurrances that the odour would not last longer than two hours (Bayer vet ). I find that after six hours the odour is still there and is offensive to the point of making us nauseous.
When I approached Bayer on this matter I was met with indifference.
I cannot recommend it.
The company should be quite clear on this point in there advertising… Read Full Review

These drops made the fur on my cats hind legs, front legs and stomach fall out and has also made the hair on my friends cats neck fall out. I have spoken to a vet nurse and she says she has heard of this reaction before - BE CAREFUL!!! Not to metion it is made by the corporation 'Bayer' - If I'd known they made it I would never have bought it and supported their DISGUSTING research into chemicals and genetically modified foods :( I will NEVER recommend this product to ANYONE!!!… Read Full Review

Both my sister in law and I used Advocate for Cats after finding frontline no longer worked. We both found it to be very effective against fleas-it also had the added advantage of containing wormer and ear mite control.Ok it costs about £7 a month per cat but i tend to treat them in the summer only, as the fleas are gone for the rest of the year, then use 1 application mid winter in case of worms and bobs your uncle!!… Read Full Review
