Going from Glasgow to London fantastic, food good, service good, and regular tea/coffee/drinks service, however london to Glasgow shocking- 1st drink service within 30 mins, 2nd 1hr from home and a snack box (2 crackers, soft cheese, a small pack of pretzels, a small flapjack, and a square of chocolate) no hot food, fruit or snacks as I was lead to believe- I purchased these from the shop- so why did I pay extra for this service? Big fan of Richard Branson. Love flying Virgin Upper. Great brand with equal experience..... until now! I can only assume the good reviews are from employees of Virgin and I admire their loyalty. First time on Virgin Trains from Euston-Manchester. Dirty, smelly, grubby, no natural light as the windows are tiny. (in fact I don't even have a window for my 'window seat'.. I stopped using trains years ago...as I felt like a sardine. Well Virgin Trains, thank you for opening my eyes to the comfort, cleanliness, staffing,catering, choice and up to the minute information. I took my grandchild to see the Wizard of Oz and not looking forward to the journey, the experience was so good I am saving for another trip. Pre- Booked a 1st class single fare from London to Liverpool, pay 50 GBP by creditcard and got a confirmation number by email. One day prior to travel I went to collect my tickets at the ticket machine. Enter number, get ticket and receipt. No problem so far. The trip: conductor agrues with a fellow passenger about the validity of her ticket. According to him it's not valid because it was booked with a different Credit Card! I was flying to Ireland from Liverpool on September 30th at 15.20 so I booked a train with Virgin from Heald Green in Cheshire to Liverpool South Parkway having to change at Manchester Piccadilly. The cost of the Train journey was £10.40. The first leg of the journey was good and arrived on time. Recently I went away for the weekend to London and I travelled first class on the 08:16 Virgin Train service to Euston. When the train pulled up at ths station it looked very empty and it certainly was!! The seven of us had a whole first class cabin to ourselves. The attendant in the cabin came round with two rounds of drinks and the journey was remarkable the train didn't bend as much as it should of for a pendelino but on the way back it certainly did pulled into station on time and then off… Read Full Review

i bought tickets to travel in January unfortunatly due to severe weather the trains were cancelled. I am still waiting for my refund have spoken to 6 different people, had 2 e-mails sent and now i'm told its in the hands of southern trains! why was this not said before??? tried tele these only to find suprise suprise its a recorded message saying nobody available!!!! i will no way travel with virgin again try rail easy ot ticket line stay away from virgin trains they do NOT look after there… Read Full Review

5pm on Friday and I'm booking an online train ticket for my mum who fancies trying a long-distant train journey to return home - advertised as a comfortable, convenient and cost effective travel option - "Get where you want to be for less". Great service,but as a regular user I do find it annoying that when Im booked in in the quiet couch,its anything but quiet. Why are people with children always booked in in the quiet couch. I think there should be better regulations about the quiet couches… Read Full Review

I use the London Euston to Glasgow Pendolino service first class since I gave up flying 2 years ago and find the service generally good. Sometime things don't work like water in the toilets, no food, broken toilet or some other minor breakage.
Generally the service runs to time which it should do given the fast investment on the West Coast main line over the last few years!
The Glasgow to London service takes under 4.5 hours and on the few services that have limited stops it can be done in less… Read Full Review

Use the Holyhead to London service quite often and usually get the quick train, I think they run 2 of these quick runs a day - only takes 2h 30mins from Llandudno Junction to London Euston. And if they've got some special offers available on first class travel, worth going for this option, sometimes only works out 15-20 pounds dearer. But you do get free food and drinks included in the price. They always run plenty of carriages, that are always clean and tidy and well looked after. Recommended… Read Full Review

The Virgin Trains Pendilino service is fast and usually on time. I get this service often and nine times out of ten it has arrived on or before time. To be fair the only time it was late there was a flood on the line so I can't blame them for an 'act of god'.
These trains are faster than the old virgin trains because they lean into corners. This is a bit disconcerting at first as the horizon disappears out of the window.
