“Epic Failure - No Help, They Just Abandoned Us”

“DON'T BOOK”

My family and I booked a hotel in Florence as part of out 3 week trip to Europe. We were notified by Booking.com that the hotel was unable to accommodate us. We had made this reservation almost 4 months prior. This came as a shock but the biggest shock was the complete lack of assistance and care that Booking.com provided. Absolutely terrible booking.com and this is my first for writing a review but had to be done. Always do my own hotels in Spain usually just me and my son and I need two beds so booked a standards room. Three days later, and several expensive phone calls (and waste of my life because they leave you waiting on the phone for at least twenty minutes if you get through and they don't answer emails) the hotel didn't call me back and Booking.com didn't help or care. That is after three days of calling them. “Beware cancellations”

Booking.com has a policy with some hotels where you may be charged the full price of your stay if you cancel. But, Booking.com also recommends (during cancellation) that you contact the property if you want to waive the cancellation fee (even though Booking.com has a policy where they mention I will be charged by them if I cancel). Booking.com is fooling people, they give us guaranteed bookings and when we reached hotel they say reservation is not received or non-guaranteed. I rather book straight from hotel. I have had three similar bad experience and decided to book directory through hotel. Sometime we cannon trust third party online booking engines like Booking.com or others. My hubby & I looked forward to a fun anniversary weekend here but first, received the wrong room, next the pool and pool lounge was closed(but we were invited to use the pool facility at there sister hotel--two blocks away!) last, the 2nd night of are stay, the elevator stop working!! We made a reservation for a three night stay, Villa Suite, at the Inn Spot on the Bay, Hampton Bays, NY, 7/3-/7/6/16, $920.95 confirmed, guaranteed rate paid by credit card. After staying at this b&b the owners kept texting me a lot and bullying me, as they did not want or like my first review!! “Friendly homely stay”

The hosts were most friendly and enthusiastic young couple who love opening their home. The room was very clean, safe and homely. Didn't have any issues with insects. It felt like staying in a relatives home. The home cook was very authentic and plenty on the plate. The hosts were very friendly, very good Eglish speaking and provided much details about the local attractions; putting safety above all. Booked room as we got off the highway, said they had only 3 rooms left. Booked a double queen room. Got a single king. Room is so small the bed barely fits. Tv does not work and the phone isnt even plugged into a jack so you can call front desk. First room they gave us was in the process of being painted. We opened the door and saw an upturned bed and paint cans. Wifi is free but so weak, they may as well skip it. “customer service dry and unhelpful / unimpressed”

After dealing with a "hotel" as they loosely use the term for all rentals they deal with customer service sided with the hotel not the customer at all. Nothing was done to look into complaints. This "hotel" was a private house so there was not a home office or corporate to call and try to hash out the issues. “Hard to give our review on this website”

Thought using booking.com was a good idea for our spring break vacation. Read hotel reviews that were good. Got to the locations and both hotels were old, dirty and staff members were very unhelpful for anything from more towels to knowing anything about local tourist attractions. My suggestion would be booking.com needs to have someone actually go to these hotels to rate them. There is no possible way that was done in either hotel we booked. No refund policy! First hotel booked was unacceptable; much more rundown and dirty than website led us To believe. After seeing 4 rooms; fridge didn't work, too near unruly tenants ( 1 guy on roof Catching beer!?) , smoky, dirty smell, then a filthy carpet with stained bedding we had to Leave without a refund.
