Used this site twice and both times there were problems on arrival at the hotel and booking was not as expected. Both times the hotels said it was not their problem because the booking was not made with them and would not refundcancel the booking despite and would have to seek refund from booking.com but of course we needed somewhere to stay that night. I used Booking.com to book a hotel in Costa Rica for two different nights at the same hotel on either end of our trip. On both check ins they had NO record of our reservation, and checking in was a lengthy and involved process. Got sick before my hotel stay was scheduled. When I booked, it clearly stated that any cancelation one day before arrival would not be charged any fees. Went to cancel my booking one day before my check in date and was advised that there would be a considerable fee. Called and spoke to CSR who advised me that the no fee cancelation date was actually two days before arrival. I booked to stay at the eckerlyk Inn hotel in Kortrijk in November 2015. I was not able to make the trip but my friend went and she paid for the room on check out. We then realise that we have also been billed for the room and the money was taken from our account 4th Jan 2016. I have sent many emails and I being given the run around. Departamentas para Touristas is a very clean and comfortable place to stay. Not a hostal, not a hotel, but a family business that surpasses any service from hotels costing ten times more. Booked an apartment offering free cancellation ........ have had to email and call repeatedly to get them to help me with this. The rental agency dragged their heals, told me they couldn't refund the $ to my credit card etc etc. Now trying to deal with booking.com to recoup some of my losses (bank forex rates not nearly as good as credit card ones) it turns out they don't even have a postal address so I will have to find someone with a fax machine. Warning, beware of booking.com cancellation policy. I made a hotel booking 7 months ahead and within 27 minutes cancelled the booking. The hotel then took the full amount from my card that day, when I asked for my money back as I had immediately cancelled, and they had lost no business or time requiring compensation, they replied they strictly adhered to this 'policy'. In November of 2015 I stayed at the Holiday inn Antwerp booked through booking.com. To say that I am really disappointed and angry that months later I am still waiting on either or both to refund 599 euros taken off my card to be refunded as I was double charged and some £40.00 that I was overcharged, would be an understatement. Yes, I made a mistake. I overslept and was in a rush to get to the airport in Las Vegas and left an expensive coat in my room. My phone was dying so I had my roommate call the hotel. No one turned it in. Called security and risk management when I got home, and filed a police report. No response from these people. Beware, tourists are easy pickings… Read Full Review

We had to cancel a room because of the snowstorm on the east coast. The agent we spoke with was in Mexico. He acted like he knew nothing about the snow and refused to refund our money. We went round and round with him and was put on hold 3 times for 5 minutes each in a 30 minute conversation. We had to get another agent on the phone because of being put on hold so much.
