“waste of money”

I bought this RUBBISH back in 2009 when i passed my test, thought i was getting a deal if i remember back then think i paid about £60 takes ages to load and it takes you on the wrong route wrong directions and its not loud at all. when you first past you test you want something reliable and that doesnt knock your confidence, never used it again til i dug it up out of the cupboard and thought give it a go as i need it for driving, and the same old RUBBISH doesnt work. Well i will try to get rid of it for FREE and get myself a decent satnav maybe a tom tom or garmin. TRUST ME DONT BUY THIS YOU WILL REGRET IT, BUY IT IF YOU WANT TO GET STRESSED!!!!!

“POOR FORSIGHT IN SAT NAV TECNOLOGY”

★★★☆☆

written by Deno4146 on 25/07/2012

Good quality product. Ideal GPS when purcased, good for the job at the time ,But the amount of changes on the roads now and not being able to obtain any updates for this SatNav seems to me a total waste of money. Why have binatone not been able to come up with updates for this product instead of bringing new GPS sytems out to make more money. Regards Mr Brian Deeny

“Good basic Sat Nav - Does what it says on the tin ”

★★★★☆

written by on 20/02/2012

I bought this sat-nav back in 2009 just before i went on holiday, i have had it about 3 years now, and in that time it has got me to a few different holiday locations without any problems, There has been a few times when it has wanted to take me the long way round but i just ignored it lol I paid about £70 for mine, and i think it has been worth every penny, it is quite smart in design and not too big, overall a good little basic satnav to start with. The only problems i would give it are - sometimes a bit slow to calculate (around 5 mins at the longest) The battery doesn't last that long - about an hour when was new, and half an hour now, so make sure you have the charger with you at all times. Also - at the moment - It can't be updated But overall 8 out of 10 - i deffo would buy another one

“I can't understand the positive reviews for this sat...”

written by on 20/02/2010

I can't understand the positive reviews for this sat nav.

It takes FOREVER for this unit to get a signal - so if you buy it, make sure you're never in a hurry to get anywhere (I live in London, by the way, not the Hebrides).

Also if for any reason you cannot take the route it suggests, the words "CALCULATING ROUTE" pop up, and the screen freezes for ages while it decides on an alternative direction.

When this happens, the best you can say about it is that it is frustrating and time-wasting. At worst it is seriously dangerous.

I have at times GUESSED my way to my destination before this thing has re-calculated its route.

The instructions it gives can be infuriatingly vague - I have learned to accept that when I am on the motorway and the sat nav says "In 500 yards, keep to the left," it sometimes means "In 500 yards, take the exit on the left." Sometimes, not always.

I also have to be alert for phrases like "In 200 yards, keep to the left, then keep to the right," which to be honest can mean absolutely anything and can result in me crossing lanes of traffic then crossing back again.

Yesterday I was so close to throwing this sat nav out of the window. But I guess you get what you pay for. Absolutely rubbish.

I'm finding it very hard to enter my home address, and before you say it yes I do know what I'm doing, just won't enter or deletes when I move onto next stage, if it don't work soon it's going into the fkn bin.

“We have been to spain and used the Binatone Carrera A350. ”

We have been to spain and used the Binatone Carrera A350.
resonably good until you get into the mountains then it is not happy.
The unit canot find the way to go so it then wants to take you to the spot it lost you. So you go round and round in circles.
Also going to the airport to come home i set it to Alicanti and the point of interest was the airport it took us to the airport but said and wanted to take us another 23 km. give Binatone the due as we had just bought the unit they sent me an update on a SD card free of charge.

I found the Binatone GPS Nav system very good. In fact I would put them up with other leading brands such as Garmin, Navman ect.
Very easy to use, it gives clear distinct voice instructions, clear screen without the fancy colors displayed on other brands. I believe a GPS is for getting you for point A to point B without the stress of reading a malways which in my book is privative. I would like to see them make a GPS for motorcycles.

Had the Binatone Carrera A350 for a week and found it so easy to use, It's taken me half way across the country twice, with no problems. Found me a petrol station 2 miles away when i had forgotten to fill up before going onto the motorway.

“I do not understand how this product has got such good...”

written by on 01/12/2008

I do not understand how this product has got such good ratings, possibly the area I am in but have only ever tried to use for long distance.
Even though I have completely updated it... still;
Many times has sent me to a cul-de-sac and told me to drive on for however many miles.
Suddenly decides it ' s in the wrong place.
Has occasionally sent me left when the screen clearly shows a right.
On my way to chertsey managed to direct me off the motor way and through a offroading lane leading to farm house over 3 miles down with no space along the road to turn round. Ridiculous!
Did lend to a friend who ended up chucking it on the floor resulting in a nasty chip... can ' t blame them.
Have recently borrowed a Tom Tom One which by far is worth that small amount extra if you actually want to get to your destination in an appropriate time.

★★★★★

written by on 23/11/2008

It's a really good unit. Have owned Sony, Garmin and all the main brands, but none (that I've owned) have been as quick, accurate, easy to use, slim and compact, and generally as good as this Binatone model.
Dont spend wasted cash on branded models, when for a mere fraction of the price you could get this Binatone. It's really good. I use it for work driving to mutli locations (the most being about 20 locations one after the other, and I did the locations with ease, ....and was home by 2pm, after setting off at 9am too.
In short, a decent 'basic and budget' unit with no frills and unneeded features (that; lets be really honest would rarely get used anway).
If you want a solid A to B then buy this Binatone model!

Yes, but how do you update maps/speed cameras? There appears to be no mechanism to do this from Binatone

The Binatone Carrera A350 is definetly worth a look if you don't need any fancy features such as bluetooth. Sometimes the GPS can place you as much as 200m off course which triggers constant re-routes if you're navigating. This has only happened to me once or twice, but is very annoying. Great menus, easy read screen and a nice voice make up for it.
At £69.99 it's fantastic!
