This machine works pretty good and had no problems using for over the years.

This is my 3rd machine The first one lasted for years The second one stopped rotating and heating after a year and now bought another I feel they are very expensive for what you get

We have had two of these and they break very easily. One lasted 4 years and the other only 3. It was only used once or twice a week. The construction is flimsy and cheap. The moving parts wear easily. It is difficult if not impossible to keep clean. The second one broke dangerously as the handle snapped when very hot. They are expensive and not worth the money. Don’t buy one.

from the early days when they had overheating issues actifry have really ignored customer complaints on how long this unit will actually work safely and properly. To date we have purchased 4 actifry units ( expecting an improvement). Sadly actifry and the retailers in the uk as a whole don't care and really are spinning off on replacement parts when it does not work. It seems we all like the unit and it is simple to use , but that is the pit hole we all fall into. If you consider its cost against reliability any sensible person would give up and buy something similar from another company. It is time that trading standards review the warranty conditions for these units in the uk as the standards are far lower here than in other countries. Overall this is our last actifry unit as it mainly made chips no real effort you would say!!!! it is now "chipped" into the bin. Warranty needs extending and trading standards need to at least review this.

I think this fryer is amazing when it works but mine blew up at 14 months old, 2 months after the guarantee ran out. Judging by reviews on the internet this is a very common problem. £120 to fry chips for 14 months is very expensive and not reasonable use in my opinion. I took it back to the shop with my receipt but was told "Sorry, it's out of guarantee". Again, another common issue. It appears to have a standard 2 years guarantee in most other countries apart from the UK. I wish I had reviewed this product before I parted with my hard earned cash

Having owned the family sized Actifry for close to 2 years on friday whilst cooking some chips the handle came adrift from the pan. when the pan had cooled took a closer look & the plastic had become brittle due to the heat could have caused a nasty incident why use plastic where the heat is ? needs to be redesigned, expected it to last more than 2 years of occasional use! the tefal web site isnt much better the contact us page does not seem to work in the UK

My actifry has given up blowing in less than a year!! It sounds like the fan blower gradually died.this was bought for me as a present and is only 10months old, gets used couple of times a week, dosent get loaded up,as its just me using it. I doubt I will get a replacement from this firm tefal,as it appears that a lot of people have problems with the actifry. When working it was great, and cooked nice chips and sausages, and basically, anything you might try to put in.

I have now had two acitfrys and both needed new handles. They are not strong enough to withstand much weightr when transferring to plates. Also the paddles are not much better. The actually frying of food is great, apart from smashing nugget, sausages etc.

After 18 months of happy use. Tonight the handle cracked, if I had not have been quick the boiling hot contents would have no doubt landed on the floor scalding my dog who is always on hand to cook!

The Tefal Actifry is a very expensive piece of equipment which works adequately for the health conscious but only for a short while. The inferior materials used, especially in the making of the paddle causes it to disintegrate after less than a years infrequent use. Very disappointing product from Tefal On the positive side it was quite easy to clean, and provided a more healthy alternative to cooking chips On the negative side very expensive to buy, very cheaply manufactured with inferior parts. I shall certainly not be buying a replacement and I shall remember for future reference what sort of quality Tefal products are.

I bought this machine to replace my old deep fat fryer. What a mistake. Has it less than 6 months and despite being used less than once a week it has started to fall apart. The central spindle is worse than useless as it is clearly unsuitable for turning the paddle blade even when the machine is only quarter full.Even when it worked ,frozen chips came out as cooked mush. I would not recomnend this to anyone...now where did I put the deep fat fryer.

I am fed up of replacing parts for the actifry which cost a fortune, had 9 months and replaced lid twice and paddle, now the top part of the nozzle has melted and broken off. Yes I can see why they have made this design at £30 a time to replace a plastic lid and nearly as much to replace the paddle, they must be making a fortune on spare parts. Looking for another brand that does the same thing and not made of cheap plastic and that doesn't fall to bits.

I really enjoyed using the product untill it broke after 4 months use. the button on the lid broke right off after 4 months normal use. I called TEFAL to see if they could help me and was informed that they would not replace the top but could sell me a new one!! This after only 4 months use and for that price! I talked to the customer rep and she told me they would be happy with the bad press so here it is. I will not buy another TEFAL product as they do not seem to want to help out just sell more poor quality products.

After reading the hype dished out by Tefal we went ahead and bought one some time ago, it wasn't long before the catch on the lid broke which meant a new lid. Shortly after the warranty ran out it ceased working, paid £65 for it to be fixed and we have since had to purchase another two paddles. Had we been cooking rocks I could understand why it keeps breaking but the thing is used mainly for chips, hardly pushing the machine to it's limit and not cooking anything it states in the book that the thing will do. Obviously Tefal are laughing all the way to the bank selling spares. Never again.

had actifry family for two years used mainly to cook oven chips which it does very well but have had to replace three handles, two paddles ,bowel and centre tube, considering it only gets used two or three times a week using less than half max weight of food its build quality for me is not fit for purpose

Frozen chips get broken n very mushy but it's smell free and cleaner than the old chip pan..just a shame the chips break up easily plus I had to renew the paddle ,had it just over a yr ..so thought it would have lasted longer

i have bought an actifry for my son and the motor which works the paddle failed. so i bought him another one and yet again the motor has stopped working. these are not a cheap item to buy so i'm considering looking at different makes which does similar things

Bought one of these recently and very quickly wished I hadn't bothered. Don't be fooled by the hype it really doesn't live up to it. Everything I have cooked in it has been a disapointment and could have been done much better using conventional cooking methods. Even the chips were a disapointment despite being this machines strong selling point. A frozen oven chip is better then what this can produce. I haven't had it long but a lot of other reviews (which I wish I had read first) say it breaks not long down the line. I think I would have been better off investing in a bag of chips from the chippy when ever I wanted some chips rather than buying this product I would have got better value for money and a lot more satisfaction I think! Soft foods tend to get mushed up and despite not tasting too bad by any means just ends up in a mess. You can't even cook breaded chicken nuggets in it as all the breadcrumbs fall off. Very, very disapointed given it's high price I could quite happily throw it out of a windown if I hadn't paid so much for it. Ebay it is!

I bought this in the sale, I wouldn't of paid full price, not because its not worth it but because its a lot of money, If you follow the instructions to the letter it will work. anyone who says their chips didn't cook/broke or went mushy didn't use it correctly or used potatoes that wernt for chipping. You MUST cut them the same size as much as you can ( I did mine pretty big, like from a chip shop) also you MUST rinse after cutting and dry with a clean tea towel. I put actifry on for ten mins to warm before putting in chips and oil,ive used it a few times now and everytime they have been perfect. If you own a deep fat fryer you may take a while to get used to this as it takes a lot longer and may not taste like you are used to, i didn't so they were yummy, but a friend of mine didn't like it but they own a deep fat fryer. Cant wait to try some more recepies.

I got talked into buying one before Xmas, a friend extolling the virtues of fat free frying. I paid £99.99 from Currys on offer. I have only ever cooked chips in it, about 6 times now, they are very nice, much better that oven chips, but as you say, its a bit pricey for just some chips. I find, that its difficult, to think WHAT to cook in it. We dont do fish finger, chicken nuggets or similar, what about sausage, can you cook them in it? I would like a forum of recipes and tips from other users to enable me to get my moneys worth from the fryer. ps chips are red hot, coming out, but the machine is noisy!!!

I've got rid of mine now, luckily I was able to send it back. The only thing I can suggest is roasted veg, Carrots and parsnips would probably work ok. Just avoid anything soft I think.
