“My mobile phone was knocked off a bedside cabinet...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by pcWood1977 on 26/11/2019

My mobile phone was knocked off a bedside cabinet while I was in hospital on August 14th 2019. The screen was smashed and the phone would not work at all I purchased a new phone on 12/09/2019 for £159.99 When looking through some bank paperwork recently I realized that my gold account gave me insurance for mobile phone damage. I rang the number from my paperwork and was told that the number had changed. On ringing the new number I was left on hold for so long on 2 occasions that I decided to use the internet address they gave whilst I was holding. I have been trying for the last hour and a half to find out how to make a claim via the net and I've been totally non plussed It seems that Lloyds or its insurer are purposely making it purposely difficult to make a claim

“Couldn't have hoped for a better service”

After completely destroying my iPhone 8+ in an accident I called the Lloyds mobile phone insurance line at 18.00. Spoke to a very helpful representative who dealt with my claim in a very professional and helpful manner, leading me through the whole process My claim was accepted and all the documentation needed was emailed to me during the call. I paid the excess. Posted the IPhone off the next day, Royal mail recorded (Thursday) Saturday my brand new replacement phone arrived by 11.00 Completely chuffed with the whole process and those that dealt with my claim

“1 Great outcome, 1 OKAY”

written by JarrettPope on 03/01/2018

I had one fantastic experience with LLoyds phone insurance. I smashed my phone screen on 27th December, posted it on 28th December and reveived it back, fully repaired on Sunday 31st December (New Years Eve). Was not expecting such a speedy, easy service over such a busy time of the year but I was thrilled to have my phone back for New Years Eve. Brilliant service. My Husband however, lost his phone last year but was sent a refurbishment which he had a lot of problems with. Since he didn't make any complaint, I can't comment further on how they would have handled it.

“Dodgy policy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Saj10 on 31/12/2017

I broke the screen of my iPhone 7+ last month and it has been a nightmare since. I paid a £100 access and arranged a special delivery to send the phone to tsb. they sent me a refurbished handset which was faulty as people couldn’t hear my voice. Sent it back and got sent another refurbished handset which looked brand new but it also had an extremely poor audio quality as well as other functions are not the same of a proper i phone 7+ Complained again to be told they will send me another piece. Its been a whole month of messing about and I have lost faith. I have had this platinum policy for 13 years and have been paying £17 a month. This is the first claim I have made on this policy. Completely dissatisfied this cover has been a total waste of money. Would not recommend to anyone.

“Apalling”

Used this service twice now - first time received refurbished phone which have had to send back since it doesnt charge at all (battery did not even last for a day anyway) They wipe the phone when you send it back so beware and do your backups regularly. Pretty bad getting a dud refurbished phone to replace a perfectly good Iphone 5 ! The worst part of the experience is the delivery service - they will deliver in a time slot and if you are not home too bad - I ended up driving miles to a pick up point - this time around the bank didnt update my new address so the phone is currently on its way to old address - will take another day to re-route it but "sorry there is nothing we can do " ! Just grubby service ........ Too stressful, should be more streamlined less hassle for customer.

“Terrible Service - Complaints process does not work...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by zackcain on 12/08/2017

Under-valued my phone. Refuses to replace it with a device of equivalent speficaition as their ToS Suggests. Instead, how it works is they ebay your phone, find out how much it would cost for you to buy a used one from a seller that's been around for longer than 12 months and has more than 3 feedback. For me, this meant that my £400 (used) phone was being sold on ebay by one seller for £200 for god knows what reason. They used this as the value and ended up paying out £220. Originally I was only being offered the £200 and it took me 5 weeks, 30 emails, 7 phone calls of complaints to obtain this result. They constantly were confused by the name of the phone because the IMEI doesn't have the exact same name as the device. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

“Told me to get replacement phone from eBay”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/07/2017

My iPhone cost me £600 so as Lloyds packaged bank account insured to a value of £2000 with an excess of £100 for iPhones I though i was covered. My immaculate phone got rolled over by a tractor. To my shock Lloyds Banks Insurance Partner validated my claim but offered me cash of £357 unfortunately I could not get a replacement, for this which I informed them. They then sent me to several links to eBay sellers with less than perfect feedback, some reviews on Yell even claiming those sellers just send out faulty iPhones etc. In summary I feel the Lloyds Bank Phone Insurance is a waste of money, I have definitely been mis sold the policy, as the T&C's do not tell you anywhere that they will send you to dodgy sellers on eBay. 4 weeks on I don not have a replacement phone. Worst customer service I have ever had..

“Smashed my phone up for another £50”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Haleyq321 on 24/04/2017

Dropped my galaxy s7 edge, smashed screen and rear cover, sent for repair on wednesday received phone on friday, happy days so i thought until a while later the rear cover came away from the phone. Contacted lloyds, ok we'll send you a plastic envelope to get it repaired, received text informing me the phone had been received, a week later i get a call informing me the phone was received damaged and a new claim will need to be made, asked for evidence they sent photos of the rear all smashed up, the rear cover was mint when i posted it other than just coming away from the phone. Unfortunately i have no proof and have to pay for a new claim. Advice, if you have to use this joke service take photo's or video of your phone before posting as condition evidence may be needed.

“Excellent Service ”

★★★★★

written by 1989Barrett on 13/04/2017

Excellent Service - I agree with someone's comment below that people are more inclined to leave bad reviews so I also wanted to assure people that it isn't all negative. I accidentally smashed the phone screen of my Samsung S6 Edge on Thursday afternoon (06/04) and called TSB with whom I have phone insurance with that evening. They assessed and accepted my claim on the phone and I paid the £50 excess. I sent my phone off Recorded Delivery on Friday midday (07/04). I had an e-mail at 5.30am Monday morning (10/04) to say the phone had been received, another e-mail Tuesday late afternoon (11/04) to say the phone had been fixed and my handset back with me Wednesday (13/04) at 1pm. My work colleagues commented that they thought I had received a new phone because it looked that good. When I read the reviews people had left, it gave me great anxiety and I almost didn't send my phone away but, I am so glad I did. I have been using it for a day and there doesn't appear to be any issues. All in all a very happy customer.

“This is a joke and not an insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by aniadancy on 17/02/2017

I have posted my Samsung S6 Edge for screen replacement. I was told that it cannot be repaired and I will receive a 'new' phone. Fair enough. On the paperwork that came via email there was a note: 'If you want your phone to be sent back to different address please state the address here:..' Which I did as I'm in work Mon-Fri and opted to posting to my work address. Guess what - they sent the phone to my home address. I had to arrange the collection from a dpd pick up point. Why do the ask for the delivery instructions if they don't even read it?! Next I had a problem with collecting as phone was sent to my husband's name. I have managed to pick it up at the end and it appeared that I have received white instead of champagne colour I originally had. Rang them - apparently insurance doesn't cover the colour. Women on the phone wasn't very pleasant. The whole service is just rubbish.

“Appaling service, poor communication”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rebecca_Hurrell on 04/01/2017

I've used this phone insurance twice now. Both times my phone was water damaged. They advertise the service as 'repaired in 1-3 working days' upon receipt of the phone. Add another day or two for 'processing' the phone and assigning an engineer. They didn't fix it properly the first time & I had issues with the screen peeling away. Both times I made a claim I had to constantly ring them for an update. They've now had it 4 working days and I have had no communication from them to advise whether it has been repaired or whether it will be replaced. Funnily enough they debited my account the £100 excess for the second claim over 2 weeks ago! My recommendation is to take out separate phone insurance.

Lost my Samsung S7 Edge, phoned them and they emailed me the form filled it and took my proof of purchase from my network provider posted it on Tuesday for next day delivery and on Wednesday i received an email stating that they received my form, after 4 hours i received an email saying that my application has been accepted and that i will receive my replacement phone tomorrow. Phone came on Thursday and i was so happy as the phone as brand new. People do not read bad reviews i was worried as well but after going though them they can confirm they are just like other insurance companies.

“Great Service”

★★★★★

written by Humphreyza37 on 21/10/2016

I smashed my screen on my Samsung Galaxy S5, I claimed through Lloyds through my platinum acccount, it was a very efficient service, I got the phone back very quickly and the repair was perfect, but I started having problems afterwards with making calls and sending texts in the area where I work, I had the phone checked at a popular phone store and after various tests they agreed it was the phone and not the net work, so off it went again but I still had the problem, so as contacted them again and they sent out a new phone and I handed mine back at the door, It still wasn't perfect but I'm convinced it's the network and the age of the phone after discussing this problem in the store again.I have now upgraded t the S7 and its fine most of the time, I've have the odd text won't send. But overall Lloyds were very helpful and efficient. I had to pay the £50 excess the once.

“Lost Phone - Quick Turnaround”

★★★★★

written by AshlynConway on 30/09/2016

I lost my phone on a weekend. Called up and advised them it was lost and they emailed the forms over really quickly. I filled the forms out and sent them on the Monday and had a replacement phone on the Thursday, more still it was delivered free by DPD, which I was pleased about as I despise paying delivery fees. I personally cannot fault their service.

“This is not insurance it is a sham. My nearly new (two...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by umHardy38 on 21/09/2016

This is not insurance it is a sham. My nearly new (two weeks old) Samsung S7 Edge fell and had a few minor cracks in the screen. I had not taken out the insurance in the shop when I bought it because I had on my bank account. I got two quotes (one from the Samsung service centre) of about £250 to replace the screen. According to them repair was routine and not a problem. Rather than pay I sent the phone in and paid excess to LLoyds. Expected phone back. They wrote back saying my phone was beyond repair and they want to give me some reconditioned piece of rubbish instead. I asked for my phone back. They are refusing to give my phone back. To say that the phone was beyond repair was a lie and they have basically stolen my nearly new phone and are trying to fob me off with a reconditioned alternative. This is obtaining property by deception and not insurance. We are still in dispute and I do not have a phone.....

I just made my first claim on Friday about my phone and on Saturday I accidentally dropped my phone at work while taking pictures and unfortunately cracked the screen. The phone is still in warranty, but physical damage is not covered and now I don't know if I can make another claim just a day after I made one about my burned out usb port and even if I can I am not sure that will be accepted? Please, if anyone is aware of the process I will be very pleased to be informed by someone who had been through something like this already.
