Written on: 10/09/2008

I brought the iphone recently knowing its meant to be the best phone on the market. All together it is a really good phone with plenty of memory space and the music player is unbeatable. Unfortunately though its pointless if you have no signal.
Unfortunately because of this i had to return mine a few days ago. With no signal I could not receive calls or texts, send texts or call friends. Also had no internet connection due to the signal problem. It seemed pretty useless. All i can say is make… Read Full Review

I used to upgrade my phone almost every six months as none quite captured what I wanted of a phone. some of the phones I used to have, had functions that were so complex to use. I now have this and don't expect to be upgrading anytime soon. iPhone 3G has got one customer for life.

Prediction: IPhone will be to mobile phone users what microsoft is to computer users! take that to the bank… Read Full Review

The Apple iPhone 3G is overall a fantastic piece of technology inside out satisfying most of the population. First impression is absolutely fantastic and this initial impression keeps on building when discover new features every other day even at a micro level. This shows how deep the consideration of the vendor is! and ofcoarse this is none other than APPLE! I'm not Apple pholic by any means however this iphone is pushing me to be.
For me there is nothing matching iphone at this moment in time… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/08/2008 by Jamie2176 (1 review written)

I get so annoyed by reviews from people who clearly do not have this phone or have even tried using it properly - a few minutes playing with it in store is not enough to appreciate how superb this phone really is.

I'm a recent convert having used Sony Ericsson and Nokia for over 10 years. My last phone was the SE W960i, which I thought was the best phone I'd ever had so far. The iPhone 3G makes that seem like a brick. The key is not so much the range of functionality but more the way it works… Read Full Review

The Apple iPhone 3G is just an amazing phone... the touch screen is amazing, the internet is brilliant, the texting although weird at first it extremely simple after a while. Bad Points are no picture messaging... and the battery is not that good at all... only lasts for about 8 hours... on standby maybe it would last longer, i just maybe text a bit and surf... but 8 hours max. The apps are good... and the sat nav is excellent for a free thing on the phone… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/07/2008 by sheilanolan (6 reviews written)

The 3G iPhone is similar in looks to the old 2G phone although you can see the changes if you look closely and there is an obvious improvement in the sound quality. The biggest difference is the inclusion of GPS which works in many of the applications. If you are in an area with GPS reception, you can pinpoint your location on Google maps which can be handy if you're in an unfamiliar town. Photos can be geotagged so everyone will know exactly where you took that shot and your phone can now… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/07/2008 by MATTHEWLONG666 (1 review written)

I love this phone. I have had a TYTN 2 for the past year and although there are more apps for the TYTN, the iphone is just such a better all round package. The Touch screen on the Iphone is just a pleasure to use (you just want to keep touching it to see it come to life). The IPOD features are fine great, as good as my 60gb ipod. I have downloaded a couple of games and while they take a while to get used to from a controlling point of view, they are great and run really smoothly. The overall… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/06/2008

From what I can see of the new Apple iPhone not much has been changed, infact, the only new attribute of this phone actually it seems is 3G? What's the point in that, but what annoys me even more is the fact that they are rising the price to the stupid price it was when it first came out. In my opinion this is stupid, as far as I am concerned no one even uses 3G properly yet, so why bother?
Well for me personally it doesn't make sense, the (poor) camera that is not even near in competition with… Read Full Review

The Apple 3G phone is a great phone but from experience, people using active sync might have issues moving from 3G to regular data networks.
There are patches to resolve this but limited to a few models only.

I found this review unhelpful because like other posters, it doesn't mention the improvements. Yes, GPS is the big difference between the old iphone and the new one. Many of the new applications use location services to help you find useful things in your area - it's like having an intelligent yellow pages in your pocket. The beauty of this phone is the fact that improvements can be made via software and firmware updates which is something none of my previous handsets have. Presumably, other phones will be criticized by this person for not having the features that the iphone does have!

Hi there, I have never wrote anything like this before. But was so outraged by the frankly nonsense that the the last person wrote, that I felt overwhelmed to put the matter straight.
He states that not much has changed and no body even uses 3G anyway. This is true about the features but the things that have changed are very important features that have now brought the Iphone in line with the only other phone worth comparing the N95. Also mate people have been using 3G on most phones for a long time now. The thing that sets the iPhone 3G apart is that it isn`t just 3G its UMTS, HSDPA, GSM, Wi-Fi, EDGE and 3G. Switching seamlessly between any of this connections to give you the best speed at all times. HSDPA (high speed datalink package assistant) runs at up to 3.5 meg p/s. That's like faster than a lot of peoples broadband connection.
The comparison with the original iPhone, which is only 2G, would be like having broadband over a dial up connection. I bet your not still using dial up are ya!!

The iPhone 3G also now has GPS built in unlike the original which uses the cellular network and Wi-Fi to triangulate your position. Which is a clever system but not as good as GPS.
Although it would properly getting a quicker connection. Which is good because the new iPhone 3G Maps system incorporates all three. Along with Google Earth satellite images it lets you switch between map view, satellite view and a hybrid view of both. Multi-Touch makes the difference: Tap to zoom, pan and change your view, making this is best GPS device on the market.

There are also some need little extras like:

Visual voice mail, which is an excellent idea. Rather than having to call up your voice mail it is all on screen. So you can see who has left you a message, which ones you have listen to.
You can listen to them in any order and FF or RR the message as you please like its an MP3 track.

On going text conversations. So when you text someone you can see there's and your previous texts above like an on going conversation in speech bubbles. Where you can scroll back as far as you like.
So no more trying to find that text in a inbox of thunders of messages from a few weeks ago etc.

Microsoft exchange which lets you have push email straight to your iPhone, and many other things that I can't be borthered to go in to now. If you want to know more a suggest you go to the Apple web site
where all will be explained.

He also stated "but what annoys me even more is the fact that they are rising the price to the stupid price it was when it first came out." This is a complete load of rubbish!!
The new prices are very good the 8GB is free on a £45 and £75 contract. Which both give you more than enough text and mins for your money. On the £75 you can even have a 16GB version for free.
On the lower contracts its £99 for the 8GB and £159 for the 16GB. This is a hell of a lot cheaper then the original iPhone was. O2 will even let you upgrade your old iPhone for a brand new
iPhone 3G for FREE!!!! So please don`t write negative reviews about something you clearly now nothing about. Everybody else sorry for the rant but I hope this has help you in your choice.

For me theirs a simple choice you need to make, if buying a new phone. If you want a phone that has the best camera on the market then buy the Nokia N95. If you want a phone with the best
MP3 player then buy the iPhone 3G, its that simple......

Well as a user of the current iPhone, I am looking forward to the 3G version. Edge is flaky at best so 3G will be a welcome improvement. I hope they improve the battery life as it is very poor.

Nobody, least of all Apple, is pretending that this is much more than an iPhone with 3G.

But you've missed the other big new feature - GPS.

Those two alone add up to big news. Then there's the iPhone 2.0 software that adds several new features, especially for business users.

Oh and it's $200 cheaper.
Reviews are opinions....this review is based on opinion of what is known about this product, whether released or not. I found this review very helpful as it mentions many of the shortcomings of the original iphone and states that these have not been improved for the new one, this is what i wanted to know.

I do not need to own a new iphone to find this out I can read the specifications of the phone anywhere on the internet. Thank you for your review!
