“Brompton Bike upgrade to a higher gear”

I arrived at the Holborn shop on Saturday afternoon. I supplied the upgraded chain set and within 30 minutes or so it was fitted, along with a new chain and rear gear wheel, tyres at the correct pressure and ready for my cycle back to Lewisham. “Incompetant technicians. Company is all smoke and mirrors”

Evans cycles are very nice people who endeavour to please their customers - HOWEVER, they are all smoke and mirrors. It is impossible to receive a bike without some sort of damage. Four bikes I've had in total, three ofhem being replacement bikes due to damage. The fourth bike I've received was set up so poorly that the chain immediately slipped off the chainrings and damaged paintwork. I am supposed to have a six week service and saftey check, I will not allow them to work on my bike again… Read Full Review

“Crouch End staff rude + unhelpful”

Having tried to call the Evans cycle shop in Crouch End store 3 times this morning, with no answer, I went along to the store with the intention of test riding and ordering a bike. I was in store for 10 minutes looking around and none of the staff acknowledged me. I have used the Wandsworth Branch many times and I have always found them to give excellent service. One of the members of staff, is particularly helpful. I do use the online order and pick up service as well and I have never been let down yet. Prices are good too. “Excellent, consistent service”

I would like to report the excellent service I encountered recently at the Nottingham, Maid Marion Way store. My mountain bike was booked in for a full frame bearing replacement service on a 2005 Specialized Stumpjumper. The mechanic phoned me directly when the work was completed and talked me through the work he'd done. He had quite a challenge as the main pivot bearings were siezed to the bearings but he succeded! “Fantastic service ”

Great service, shop assistant helped with bike with sizing, picking accessories etc. Told us when bike would be ready. We received an email and call. Collected the bike and went home, my son broke the mud guard off it by accident went back to shop and the assistant help with what we required I found the staff very polite and very helpful. “Basic service processes in need of a complete overhall”

When will Evans invest some real time, effort and money in putting some basic customer service processes in place. I recently put my road bike in for a "silver" overnight service. at noon the next day i received a muffled message from someone who left a telephone number. Turn out it was their workshop, who, after 15-20 attempts at calling then and the number just ringing out i had to call the shop. I have recently been dealing with the Chill Factore store regarding faulty wheels purchased approximately 8 months ago. So I brought a £600 Cannondale mountain bike and they were great during the sale, talked about after sale support and servicing. When It came to get my first service they were awful. I recently visited the new Glasgow store and purchased new pair of Cole Mountain bike wheels. To my dismay the wider axles prevented the normal Shimano Rotor centre lock nut from being put on. “Apathetic customer service & faulty product”

Bought a bike from the Brighton branch last week and took it for a spin. After 30 minutes cycling around town the chain came off and became firmly wedged between the gears and the frame, impossible to fix manually on the side of the road, I pushed it back to the shop.
