“Impressive Customer Service”

I joined Evans Ride to Work Scheme and received my certificate through my employer. I went online and filled my basket but decided to proceed with ordering by telephone as I would need to add a little extra payment to my order and wasn't too confident how to do this online. Wow. “Collect in store service unreliable ”

Ordered items from Evans website on the 25th December and selected to pick up at local Evans store. Confirmation of order email clearly stated that I would receive a email confirming my order was in store once it arrived. After 2.5 weeks waiting for an email I contacted the customer services team as the stock should not have taken longer then 5-7 days. “Specialized Tarmac 2013 - high quality service!!!”

I bought a 2013 Tarmac from Evans Cycles a few weeks ago. The bike was shipped to Amsterdam and arrived amazingly fast. it arrived in perfect conditions. Frame was well wrapped and had absolutely no scratches or chips. ( I carefully looked for those after reading some reviews.) Back wheel was installed and front wheel even had a fork spacer to protect it. I recently purchased a cycle from the Evans Store based at the Chill Factor, Trafford Centre. I wanted the bike delivered to London on a specific date a couple of weeks in the future. The store informed me I ad to receive it in five days, which was not possible. However, after a discussion they agreed to have the bike delivered to the store then they would UPS it to London. First of all, prices of most products are better or comparable to other major online retailers. Ordered some big ticket items from them and dispatched the following day. Made a subsequent order but due to a technical glitch, a repeated order was made. Cancellation was done swiftly and was reassured by the sales staff via email. “They fitted a basket on my new bike, which fell off”

I ordered a bike online, together with a basket and mudguards, and asked to have them fitted at the store, a service that Evans offers. I picked the bike up on Wednesday and rode home. Rode to work on Thursday, all ok. As I was riding home on Thursday evening the basket fell off the bike down over my front wheel as I was making good speed along a busy road. I bought a Quintana Roo carbon kilo model for triathlon on the 7th July 2012. Exactly a year later the rear hanger snapped which resulted in a snapped frame by the right rear stay. I purchased a Mavic A719 rim which was despatched the next day by Evans, it was collected by DPD late afternoon at Crawley, went up to Birmingham and then to Chelmsford. It was delivered the next day after collection halfway through the time slot given. “Damaged bike. Delayed refund. Shambolic”

Despite Evans cycles wide range of bikes their ability to build up bikes is poor. I returned the first bike and asked for an exchange. The replacement bike was in worse condition than the first. The first bike had scratches and gears that were jamming. The second bike had deep scratches and other issues. Yes they agreed to refund, but I am still waiting over a week later. Dear Sir, I just had to write to say how pleased I am with your shop at the velodrome. I booked an aged cycle in for a gold service, (20% discount) but was contacted two days later to say it only needed a bronze service.I mentioned to the engineer some of the bikes faults but he assured me everything would be fine. “Lots of problems! 6 days to deliver bike on 'next-day'!”

I paid £34.99 for Saturday delivery, waited in all day and the bike never came. Bike still didn't come the following Monday, or Tuesday. Wednesday they attempted to deliver during the day while I'm at work (which is why I paid for Saturday delivery in the first place).
