i first bought a bike from evans cycles in 08 brand new bike GT palomar for £175 i traveled over 15 miles to fetch the bike, on the first week the rear hub was nackered so i took it back traveling 15 miles again by taxi because im a student, the metro and the bus dont allow me to take my bike on the transport in newcastle which cost me £20 i got a bus back £2.00 so i had the bike fixed took two weeks £75!!! after a 2 month it went along with the gears awkward 15 miles in rain and £50. 6 months… Read Full Review

“My friend bought two bikes and a few accessories from...”

My friend bought two bikes and a few accessories from Evans and brought them to Ethiopia.Both the bikes came with paint problems.One had touch up paint all over its fork the other one had touch up paint all over the top tube.I cannot afford to pay another 240 pounds to ship the bikes back to the UK, the most i could do is write a review, which i hope is helpful enough to make sure no one else makes the mistake i made and buy anything from this establishment… Read Full Review

There appears to be a similar theme having read a few of the reviews. I have ordered some cycling shoes and after 10 days am still waiting. Having called the customer service team they had no information on the placed order. Still waiting for a return call,if it doesn't come with the right answer will be heading for my refund. I ordered a bike from the site which turned out to be out of stock. Replacement arrived late and I missed a weekend away as a result. When bike finally arrived it was misassembled and the sales staff were rude and uninterested. On taking advantage of the free service after 6 weeks I was told the wrong opening hours and have just returned from an abortive trip to the shop which is not exactly local. sorry this has taken so long but i had puchased a cycle from evans cycles

i had used the cycle for 1 season when it developed a flaw in the paint
finish they tried to fix with cange of colour that did not suit me .

When it arrived I found that it had damaged paintwork which they had 'repaired' with a crude daub of the wrong shade of paint which had then run down the frame. I have had my mountain bike booked in for a service for 2 weeks and was told by one of the Milton Keynes Evans bike shop staff to just drop it in on my way to work. I said that I started at 9am. She told me that was fine and just drop it of from 8.30am onwards. So this is what I did, however when I got there I was very rudely told by one of the staff I could not book it in till 10am. Staff seem uninterested. Visited the Westbourne Grove store three times with cash in hand to purchase a folding bike and found it difficult to get attention. Ended up going to Simpson Cycles due to their helpful phone manner. Simpsons took the time to asked questions and make suggestions. These are basic sales skills but helpful for business. Apalling. the website said my bike was in stock, tried ringing the store (several times) to double check, no answer. went to my local store, which wasnt exactly local, only to find out the bike was not in stock. when i did finally pick my bike up it was poorly assembled. customer service was disgraceful, bunch of incompetent kids too busy organising their social life to care. “Courier company expect the customer to wait in for an...”

Courier company expect the customer to wait in for an entire day and will not shift on this policy. Rang Evans - didn't care about the problem and said to ring the courier. Told Evans the order would have to be cancelled as too expensive/impractical to wait in an entire day. They couldn't have cared less, or that I would be informing my professional athlete friends of the lack of service. Suggested I come and pick the bike up from them - 50 miles away! We seem to have had a different experience to some reviewers....ordered a bike and quite a few accessories which were delivered in 6 days. The bike came well put together & with manuals etc., all well packed. There was an ordered & listed item missing from the delivery but that was sorted out quickly and painlessly over the phone (got it within 3 days)… Read Full Review

Neanderthal customer service at Evens Cycles! Seemingly all they care about is high fiving their mates and organising their weekends.. really irritating couldn't give a 'hoot' attitude makes me shudder when I have to darken their door..

Bike came woefully assembled, when I asked why my handlebar grips wouldn't fix in one position and kept spinning round, they simply shrugged their shoulders.

Appalling customer service. Bought a £1000 (reduced from £1800!) bike from Evans and it came with no owners manual even though they admitted it should have. They then suggested I contact my local store even though I had ordered it over the phone from Evans central. Told them I thought this was poor service and THEY should contact their supplies and order one and was told that they are only sent with new bikes (so where had mine disappeared to?) and so weren't available!

The bike from Evans Cycles was pooly assembled. Brakes, gears and seat post not correctly assembled (in fact dangerous). Bike stand became loose. When problems bike was returned to shop they failed to fix in the time stated and never phoned. It was impossible to get through to the shop on the phone. Complete waste of time. Bike supposedly in stock, then Evans Cycles informed me that date had slipped by a week, then two months. Gave up, cancelled order, bought same bike from local shop, 3 days delivery! Same story for helmet, delivery within five days promised, needless to say had to phone because of non-delivery. I feel that Evans Customer service is very poor. They appear to me to be a sales based organization and I felt as though once I had handed over my money they took almost no interest in me. When challenged on why it takes weeks to replace a safety critical part on warranty they blamed the manufacturer. I found that very suspicious and contacted the manufacturer direct, in fact they told me it had taken Evans 2 weeks to send the part to them in the first place.
