This place is garbage. I ordered shin guards from them along with other parts. The other parts showed up immediately but nothing was said about the shin guards. I emailed them and the response was that the pads were at the store not at the distribution center and that recalling them would take 10-14 days. I honestly have no idea why the store couldn't ship an item directly to a paying customer but whatever I decided to wait because I really wanted these pads. “These people have the worst customer service I have...”

These people have the worst customer service I have ever come across. They list items as being in stock, then find parts here and there to try to fit the order.
I received my "brand new" trail a bike 3 weeks late without the hitch which rendered it useless. After weeks of regular contacting their customer service they finally sent a hitch out but without the plastic shims that are essential!
I called again and again and gave up... they never sent the complete item. I had to order the shims… Read Full Review

Used Evans Cycles online for the first time, normally used the nearest store but couldnt be bothered to make the trip down.

Ordered some tyres, marked as in stock, delivery 3-5 days. 8 days later no arrival so emailed Customer Service. Received email back apologising as one of the two tyres was out of stock at the depo and they needed to get one from a store which could take 14 days!!!???

The service was more expensive than 1st estimated but no work was done until the shop mechanic phoned with a final assessment and quote. And I do agree the work was necessary and am very happy with the revitalised ride. Niggles like the brake/gear units on the handle bars being at different heights were quickly adjusted at home and perhaps that's he best for personal preference. I ordered a waterproof cycling jacket in the Summer ready for the colder, wetter months. The first time it saw rain I was soaked through to the skin. I have returned the jacket (they have it, it's signed for) and they are not responding to my emails about a refund or even a replacement. i bought a mongooses villian bmx bike from evans cycles about 3 years ago.
everything with the bike had been fine up to 3 weeks ago when the right pedal was sheared right off. WHY???
i took it to a DIFFERENT bike shop where they fixed the problem. the day after i got the fixed bike back. i am a bit of a cycle ithusiast, so i just had to take the bike out along the thames tow path for a quick 4 mile sprint. i got to the tow path, gained some speed, and then, wallap. the left peddle came off. bought the bike on the 27th of july for my sons 13th birthday the bike lasted
all of 2 months needing constant checking and adjusting of the rear wheel
untill one day the wheel just locked up damaging the hub and rear axel so took the wheel into the castleford branch to get it fixed under warrenty they said we dont have the parts to fix the wheel (while i was stood looking at all

No bike shop would anyway, the warranty is between the customer and the manufacturer not the bike shop so all warranty issues would be sent back to the original supplier for confirmation as to whether it is faulty equipment or rider missuse.

I ordered a pair of gloves, a peg and a complete BMX.

I later got a ring telling me that the gloves were out of stock and I could get the money refunded.

At first I had a hard time (2-3days) getting a hold of the customers service. But after I wrote on the facebook wall I got a very satisfying correspondence with 'Daniel'.

I just recieved the bike 2day (haven't tried it yet) it seems absolutely good for the price! a satisfying quality and good BMX for beginner.

Very unhappy the customer service doesn't even worth a star. Got my road bike from Wandsworth branch very poor service.
1- purchased a female bike gave me male saddle, don't change it!
2- asked for a refund as the bike not what I wanted, said ok then saidcan order another brand for me. Guess what instead of refunding my money as I asked and insisted he transferred my money to order a new bike and told me it's been refunded!

I'm not very impressed with the service you get at Evans Cycles. I bought a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 2300 at the Milton Keynes store in May 2010. I've had to return it twice because of broken spokes and buckled wheels and it's only done 400 miles or so.
The service seems rather lack lustre to me - kids in T shirts with no customer service experience - nobody to look after you. Nobody sympathises with you for the problems that you're experiencing. Communication between their head office and the… Read Full Review

I found this review very helpful because... I shared a similar (but unfortunately more appalling experience) I thought I was the only one to be subjected to a concoction of repeated incompetence, obstruction, deception and ultimately culminating in an accusation of lying when I attempted to recover an overcharge for a deposit which they were unable to verify the overpayment despite being presented with bank statements demonstrating their error. The error was acknowldged 7 days after registering the request for refund without appology. This experience was the insult to injury which is another story altogether. It was the same staff from the same store. Should not be allowed to trade.

I had my entire groupset replaced and bike serviced. I booked my bike into Evans at the end of July 2010 and they found me a slot to do the works on 6th Aug 2010. I informed them at the end of July that I was going on holiday on 11th Aug 2010 and I needed my bike ready before then because I was taking me on holiday with me. 3 Weeks and I'm still waiting to get a rear wheel - when the website said 5 days!
Tomorrow they have said 4x's now... still waiting!
They are just picking it off the shelf they say - How long does it take to pick a wheel off the shelf?!
They are great at taking your money of you quickly but that's all they get right - I WILL NOT be buying from Evans Cycles again!

Tell your friends not to! I've told all my bike buddies!

In a way I can understand all the bad reviews that Evans Cycles are getting but in my experience they don't paint the full picture.

I ordered my bicycle over the phone as I chose to use the 0% finance to purchase it and £100 of accessories. When I called I was given an indication that the bike would be delivered 5-7 working days after they received my signed finance agreement. Bought an in house brand MTB, Pinnacle Evo 1, as it was reduced and appeared v good value in their Castleford store. Ongoing problem with shimano brakes, taken it in a number of times to be told anything from, 'we bled them', to 'nothing wrong'. Bike is currently dangerous to ride. I've used Evans for the first and last time. They sent me a bike with no pedals. When I complained they said they'd send some out straight away as I needed them for a bike ride the following weekend. After 2 more phone calls some cheap plastic pedals arrived which would have been more suitable for a 6 year old childs bike. I've had terrible problems with Evans Cycles.

Had big issues getting the bike I wanted in to the store to test it out for size. It arrived dented 2x (we think the Kingston store never bothered to return the first one back, as what are the chances the same bike is sent from the warehouse 2x with a dent in the same place?). No apology was made for this dent and inconvenience caused getting us in to view the bike. How could no one have noticed such a great dent when fitting the pedals?

Having already ordered my bike online I was really concerned to read all of the bad reviews about Evans Cycles and was on the verge of ringing to cancel my order. However, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. I placed my order on Sunday afternoon, choosing standard delivery (i.e. delivery 5-7 days after order).
