“Empty box”

I ordered two bike lights from Evans. The website is great. Ordering and payment was easy. When my package arrived I opened it to find one back light and one empty box for a front light. The best bit is that the box's front is cut away so that you can see there is no light in it! There is a little red arrow saying "try me" and sadly pointing to the empty space where the light should be. “Single worst order/delivery service ever encountered”

Totally dreadful delivery service and follow up customer service was beyond amateur. They offer a Saturday slot. But use a company that is not contactable on Weekends. Delivery failed to appear on a Saturday. Then they attempted to deliver during the week when it couldn't be accepted - obviously. The kicker: any follow up with Evans was met with crass, arrogant responses from their team. Seriously unprofessional approach to a complaint with jokes and sacrastic remarks. “Trouble-free and prompt”

The items which I've ordered come quickly, with no hassle, and prices are reasonable (usually lower than the local bike shop). Also delivery is free. This, combined with the large choice of items in stock, makes it attractive for even small items. An additional advantage is that there is an Evans Cycles store about 45 minutes ride away, so I can often get some idea of an item before I buy it - in cases where I'm unclear about exact dimensions, say. I have got involved with Triathlon this year and as such had to invest in my first road bike. I went into Evans to discuss what i needed and the sales staff were incredibly helpful from the beginning. I have to admit i was pretty clueless about road bikes, but the sales staff broke everything down to help me understand. “Brighton- terrible repair service”

Bought a Scotts road bike and the break needed repairing under warranty. Spoke to Assistant Manager to explain that it's urgent. He offered to book it in two days later and repair within the day. Took all details over the phone as if he was taking the booking. He said 'be there at 9am and we'll have it ready in the afternoon'. “Good all round”

I have bought 2 bikes from Evans and in general find them very good. One was a full spec road bike 4 years ago. After trying a few local bike shops including getting them to fit an upgrade group set to dura -ace - was dissapointed. Just taken it back to Evans this week for a gold and they fixed all problems and downgraded costs to silver as bike had been well looked after. Staff at MK generally excellent but I also use the city shop just off Fenchurch street where staff not as good. … Read Full Review

I have recently had the entire hydraulic disc brake system stolen from my Specialized mountain bike. I feared that it would cost me hundreds of pounds to replace and I was worried about getting a similar quality replacement. “Super Helpful Staff”

Like cycling? Like bikes? Look no further than Evans (Gateshead store is my local). Helpful knoweldgeable staff but not the kind who bamboozle you with bike nerd tips if you are a basic cyclist. Also they won't try and sell you things you don't need but will find the best tolls, parts etc for the job. Can't recommend their cycle maintainence courses enough - a good 2 hour session with a goody bag to boot (which has useful stuff in it and not just token tester items). … Read Full Review

“Terrible Repair Service”

Extremely poor customer service experience from the repair department via the Canary Wharf shop. They don't do the service in store and send your bike to a central repair shop which sounds like it is understaffed and does a very quick rush job on your bike. I enjoy shopping on the Evans website for all my cycling kit. they have a good selection of womens clothing much of it at discounted prices. the website is easy to use and quick. the reviews are very helpful and honest. i have never experienced problems with returning goods for refund or exchange. I recently purchased a mountain bike for my partner at Evans Cycles near the Trafford Centrer. The young chap that assisted us was incredibly helpful and had plenty of time to answer all the questions we posed (and there were a lot). My partner is new to cycling and she's not very confident on a bike. It was clear that the assistant new his stuff but he was able to come down to the novice level and give some really useful advice. I do shop around various places and select the best priced items to purchase, I often end up purchasing from Evans as their prices can be very competitive (they do a "price promise" too which I haven't used!). The delivery time is nearly always very prompt and items are always well packed. If they were to throw in little freebees like some other suppliers it would be even better!
