I recently purchased the Raleigh Avanti Carbon Comp from Evans Canary Wharf, where I was served by Keev, one of the store managers. He showed excellent customer service skills, was clearly an enthusiast himself and displayed formidable knowledge without being patronising. He spent a lot of time with me making sure I got the right size and he priced matched the bike too, saving me £400 and I bought it using the 12 month interest free option. “Excellent repair service-fixed problems without being...”

I suffered a puncture on my way to work on Sat am and needed an emergency repair while I was at work. Blackfriars shop staff couldn't have been more helpful, and I received an email within an hour confirming repair done. When I picked up my bike later, I found they had also fixed a problem with the steering column and repaired my bell, without being asked and at no cost. “bad manners”

If you need sound advice on buying a good bike at the right price, if you need someone who really cares about bicycles to take care of your beloved mount, if you like a friendly place and nice staff members... Go somewhere else. These people are rude. They can't really spare the time to look after you because they are cooler than you are. “repair prices and sale prices cant be beaten”

im a downhill rider, and very few shops cater for downhill bike repairs and services but evans do it well and very cheaply. i've bought quite a lot from evans like my bike and some forks for my old bike etc and its been delivered everytime, bike has been fixed properly and had extras fixed for no cost within the same day with out booking my bike in, its a real shame they dont have anymore quieter brands bikes to sell cause i would really love them to sell more downhill/freeride bikes, forks… Read Full Review

Went in to buy brake pads for a common road bike, even when three members of staff had discussed it between themselves they still couldn't be sure that they were going to sell me the right brake pads. If I could have afforded to wait to go some where else I would have. I really wouldn't recommend this shop unless you know exactly what you want as the staff wont be able to help… Read Full Review

I went today to pick up my order @ Evans Chiswick @ 4:20pm. I have been served by Alister L. I collected my order and was about to leave the shop when the security gate started to make noice so I have returned to the counter. I gave Alister my order to check if any security tags were left accidentally. He checked it and said it's OK. “If you can't see it / touch it, don't buy it.”

I ordered a bike from Evans via the website (admittedly at agood price), in stock for delivery in 5-7 days, they say all fully built up and tested by one of their technicians. I eventually received the bike two and a half weeks later with two buckled wheels, badly adjusted gears and chips to the paint that had been badly touched up (used touch-up paint supplied). “Staff helpfulness”

Recently purchased several parts from the Mortimer Road Branch, and have been extremely happy with the overall helpfulness from the service department on recommendations for a bottom bracket to replace my old axle, which I took with me me so they could provide the right size sealed unit and correct tool. I already had an idea of the sealed BB I wanted. “Great people to deal with, instore and by phone”

Thought I'd put a review on here after reading all the negative ones. I've just bought a cycle2work package through Evans and they couldn't have been more helpful. In store I felt like I was getting attentive, honest advice and was sold a bike which fits my commuting needs not my aspirations. The bike I selected wasn't in stock so I was offered free delivery. “Poor Aftersales Service”

I have never had a problem with Evans before until I had to return an item. The frame I ordered was despatched in the wrong colour so I called Evans to pick up(this was a Friday). They said they would organise this and be back in touch. Monday passed with no contact so I called Evans and was told they had nothing sorted but would arrange pick up for Wednesday. “Evans, a chain? surely not!”

I ordered a Brompton, beginning of May, with Ti parts. Originally quoted 6 weeks. The on going wait is not Evans' fault, but Brompton, who sold me something for which they did not have parts. So far so good. However: Evans did not provide me with calls after "let me check and get back to you". That is poor after sales service (the before-sales service was excellent). Because they make no effort to! I went in and paid £50 deposit to have them bring in a Dahon P8 folding bike for me to look at. They said it would be in the next lunchtime so I turned up and was greeted with a blank face and a shrug. Hmm. I too have just had £50 taken off me because I simply wanted to SEE a particular model that wasn't in the store. I was told it would be in today. Now I'm wondering whether that is going to actually happen.

And while I'm on the subject: Evans, you really need to vet your staff more than you do. The guy I talked to gave me the impression that I disgusted him, that I am stupid and beneath his contempt. He offered me no information and very little help. I almost had to physically squeeze any answers out of him. People like that should not be working in your shops, serving your customers.
