“Great organisation, some dodgy franchises”

I buy most of my bike equipment online. Recently I developed a conscience and decided to put my business locally by ordering items through Evans and picking them up at the store through their 'deliver to store' feature. In theory it is great - order practically anything you want at competitive prices and pick it up locally to avoid postman fiascos. Last Sunday 16th I went into the Leeds shop with my wheel which I was unsure if I needed a tyre or new wheel, the guy who served me thomas g was the most friendly Helpfull guy I've had the pleasure to deal with. “Out of stock selling”

I recently paid for a 2011 can Osaka flash online. They stated on the order reply that it could take up to 10 days for delivery. after waiting for a week, I thought this is strange they have not contacted me about delivery. So I gave them a call , only to be told it was sold out. And could they offer an alternative. Honestly! One week and no contact not a message. They kept my money for a week and no message. “Great service by people who obviously care”

Recently the company I work for subscribed to one of the Cycle 2 Work schemes. I checked online for the bike that I wanted and Evans were the only people selling the exact model and spec for a reasonable price. So I went to the Chiswick branch to discuss the scheme and find out what I needed to do to get the bike that I wanted. The customer service I received in Evans whilst looking into buying a bike was far superior to any other shop i visited. The knowledge and attention Emma demonstrated whilst advising me on what would be best was excellent, it was reassuring to speak to someone who was interested in selling me something which was suitable for me and which I would get the best use out of. “I thought they were better than this!”

I bought a Jamis Beatnik from them that was origionally £300 and put down to £259.99 in sale. Being a beginner I wanted a cheap bike to get me to work and back which is only 2.5miles away. I wanted a really simple bike for the purpose and hence went for single speed Beatnik to avoid complications. In less than a week I started having problems with the bike. Follow up on the contact:

So I did get in touch with Evans following their request to be contacted. They very generously offered me a £20 voucher but did not offer any explaination as to why I had the experience that I did.

However, they did apologise for the inconvenience and I guess what more could they do?
But still I will be little sceptic when and if placing another order with Evans.

I purchased by bike from Evans around 8 years ago, and have occasionally purchased replacement parts etc to keep it going. However, when my Brompton started to developing mechanical problems, I returned (to the waterloo branch) and booked a service. The engineer kept me informed throughout the service, calling me with updates, and was genuinely concerned with keeping the costs as low as possible. I bought an item based on a picture they had on their website. When the item arrived, it turns out to be an older model than the one pictured. As a result, it did not fit my bike!! Evanscycles then advised me to post it back to them, and that refund would be given to me once i provide them with proof of the postage, which I did. Bike I was after was on their website with 14 day delivery. Rang local store (Metrocentre) and was told better to come in an order in store with £50 deposit. Turned out bike was available from Brighton store so order was placed on 2nd August to have bike transferred to Metrocentre. Waited 14 days then rang and was told hadn't arrived. “Online purchase”

On 1st August, I ordered 2 similair vests and brake pads which were all in stock. On 3rd August only one vest was dispatched to me with one outstanding ( need more time to get from another warehouse). On 13 August (2 weeks later), I queried again the status via email and I was told no vest was available and hence no dispatch. Absolutely amazing service! The bike actually arrived before the email telling me it was on its way! It was ordered on a Sunday before the bank holiday and I was told every effort would be made to get it delivered with 5 working days. Bearing in mind little could be done before Tuesday. You probably should have bought a decent bike and not a raleigh. 7 months is a normal time for a set of tyres from a bike of this poor quality to last. Most people when buying a bike realise the tyres supplied are base models and they need new ones quick, you have not done research, im not backing evans, im just standing up for people of intelligence.

I recently bought a trek Konia 29er but due to the summer we have had not been out on it much. Did a few road trips to get used to it but nothing more. However last week met up with my lad in Todmorden to do a real ride, on first real hill put the bike in the granny cog and it threw the chain off. “Disappointing visit on two occasions”

I was extremely discs appointed by the service at the Chiswick store on two occasions. First time was a Saturday, there were no free staff to help us and we waited for 20mins at the till before someone even acknowledge us. “Bad sales team”

I went into the shop, was there for half an hour and no one spoke to me. I ordered the bike online in the end and am still waiting for someone to call me to confirm my order. Overall, would be nice if anyone could help seeing as my knowledge on bikes is limited. At the moment I'm having to seek info from other bikes specialists and would buy my bike with them if my work's ride to work contract wasn't with Evans.
