Written on: 14/07/2013 by Rachelmumof3 (1 review written)

What a great place! The people were lovely and so accommodating. We hadn't ridden for a couple of years so booked a trek for some 'away from the children' time and loved it! The horses were lovely and we will definitely be going back again. Thank you to all and especially to the person we dealt with who was so friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful!!!… Read Full Review

“brilliant trek and brilliant trekking centre”

Written on: 04/06/2013

I went on advanced trek with Mill Farm Trekking Centre and what a fantastic day I had. Upon arrival I was asked about my riding ability and she informed me all about the trek and the horses. She matched me with a horse called Mallibu and she was a dream to ride. All the horses up there seemed to like being out on treks, they were all well looked after. I even got to look at the farrier carrying out his work as he was there shoeing the horses which was fun to watch. We then went out on our… Read Full Review

“Animal Welfare Issues!”

Written on: 03/06/2013 by ChrissyT (1 review written)

Some of the horses are extremely under weight. I could have a bit of sympathy if it was winter with no grass, but the state of these underfed horses in June is a disgrace. One horse on our trek had only one shoe on, with the other front hoof damaged. We pointed out that another horse had a loose shoe and were ignored. They obviously believe it's fine to canter and gallop a horse with a loose shoe. Even the cobs at this yard look underweight. I saw a Section D with visible hip bones. They… Read Full Review

Millfarmriding's Response to ChrissyT's Review

Bizarre the horses at mill farm are veted each year as part of the law for a licence and they are told that most of their horses are over weight by a equine vet I believe more qualified in the health and well being of all horses and ponies than your good self
Any one reading this pack of lies please feel free to visit our face book page our website or better still visit mill farm riding school and trekking centre and see for your self

Call this a pack of lies all you will. I have pictures of the horses and ponies and the local authority have been notified, also the BHS.

The horses may well have put on weight now, but what about the tack that doesn't fit? The missing shoes? The fact that the 'instructor' was so frightened of her horse (the above mentioned section D) that she had to swap with another rider half way around.

“Very Good Experience at Mill Farm”

Written on: 30/05/2013 by horserider666 (1 review written)

We first saw Mill farm on Wowcher - it was amazingly priced, and seemed a good experience. We arrived at the beautiful Cheshire farm, and met our horses which were well matched to our abilities and this meant we both loved the ride. Although Bronwyn was partial to the occasional snack and needed a bit of a push, she was a challenge for me and definitely made it an enjoyable ride. Miami was very responsive and an absolute darling. We had Julia and Josh to accompany us - Julia in the saddle and… Read Full Review

“Brilliant trekking experience!! ”

Written on: 26/05/2013 by Beebop23 (1 review written)

We bought our horse trekking experience off groupon. It was brilliant value for money. We arrived at the riding school early and then had a short drive to the trekking centre where we had a very warm welcome from the staff. We were kitted out in hats and protective jackets and then got to meet our horses, Jake and Paddy!! My partner had never been on a horse before but the staff were brilliant and very informative and talked us through everything! We then headed off on our trek through the… Read Full Review

“The Best School I Have Ever Riden In!!!!!”

Written on: 25/05/2013 by DanniTaylor (1 review written)

When I first went to Mill Farm I was really unsure of what to do and stuff like that. Until everone showed me where everything was and how to do things, my favourite ponies at Mill Farm are probably Robbie, Twinkle, Danny or Shammy (although my friends loaning Shammy at the moment :(). I would defiantly recommend this school to a friend, because Mill Farm has taught me loads from cantering through long hard cross country rides, to jumping massive jumps on the show jumping course to lastly… Read Full Review

“Fantastic trek for total beginners”

Written on: 06/05/2013 by Kin123 (1 review written)

We had a fabulous time on our 90 minute ride that we had bought via groupon. The staff were friendly and professional and put us at our ease, and chose two lovely horses for us. We were really pleased that this lady was our guide, as she was very calm and knowledgeable and we felt safe and relaxed at all times, she even let us try out a little trot! The setting and scenery were stunning, we were very lucky to have a lovely sunny day. The whole experience was brilliant, and we will definitely be… Read Full Review

“Trekking ”

Written on: 26/04/2013

My friend and I had a fabulous ride. She took the trek out and made sure that we were all safe and enjoyed ourselves. We were given body protectors for our safety. The horses were very well behaved. There were two rides. One for novice riders who went separately and our ride was for experienced riders. We got the chance to have a gallop which was fantastic and once again the horses were very well behaved. No pushing or trying to race each other. Would definitely recommend and be back. Love to… Read Full Review

“Fantastic start to our Summer!!”

Written on: 25/04/2013

Me and a friend found this deal on groupon and it was a bargain! (£32 for a 1hr 30 m trek both of us) We traveled from the city centre and although a long bus ride it was easy to find, yes a bumpy ride up to the school as ive read in many reviews but i found that added to the escapism, i wanted to be escaping into the country! The staff drove us from school to the trekking centre which was very welcome and were friendly and welcoming for the get-go We were made welcome and given our… Read Full Review

“Excellent Horses and Leaders - LOVE the place!”

Written on: 19/03/2013 by DebbieCooper (1 review written)

OK, so it's a bumpy road to the Trekking Centre but it is definitely worth it when you get there!! The people are great and the horses are brilliant. I found them via Groupon and booked an advanced trek in September 2012 and have been going back regularly ever since - it's the best centre I have been to in a long long time. The horses are well looked after and loved, all the people who work there are very friendly and very experienced - they make all riders, whether you are a beginner or… Read Full Review

“Very disappointing trek”

Written on: 18/03/2013

My friend and I had read the good reviews about Mill Farm but we came away very disappointed. The owner was only interested in telling us "that we shouldn't be there if we didn't want to fall off a horse" just what the two people who had never even sat on a horse wanted to hear. She showed a real lack of interest in us and didn't hang around very long. The drive to the trekking centre is horrendous, sports cars are not advisable due to the amount of pot holes and a drive along the canal tow… Read Full Review

“lovely morning”

Myself and my daughter went on a horse trek as beginners. The horses, Marie and Paddy are lovely - so gentle. We were led by an excellent trainer. We had no other people in our group which was great as we could build up our confidence with the horses as we plodded through the lovely countryside - fields, canal and a small wood We were lucky as it was a lovely morning Staff are experienced and very friendly Can't wait to return… Read Full Review

“Friendly trek leaders”

Written on: 11/02/2013

We booked the trek with a Groupon Voucher for our daughter and her boyfriend. We followed directions to the stables to be informed by not a particularly welcoming lady that we needed to travel in convoy to where the trek would begin. The approach to the farm itself is not for the faint hearted or owner of a sportier car as the road was filled with deep pot holes and very closely alongside a canal! This said, the staff leading the trek were lovely, with a warm welcome and couldn't have been more… Read Full Review

“excellent would defintely go again.”

Written on: 15/01/2013 by furbie (1 review written)

I booked on groupon for the trek. I was not disapointed. As a complete beginner with never being on a horse before I was made to feel at ease. Jess was our leader that took us on the trek, She was great and nothing was too much trouble for her. She stayed with me the whole time as i was a nervous beginner. I would definitely go again as this was an amazing experiance. The trek itself took us through The Middlewood Way and I believe you can go into lyme park weather permitting. Thank You Jess… Read Full Review
