“I own a 6 month old Olde Tyme Bulldogge / Mastiff...”

Written on: 10/05/2009 by Steviejay01 (1 review written)

I own a 6 month old Olde Tyme Bulldogge / Mastiff Cross, he has always suffered from runny stool's, from day one he would either have liquid poo or very very soft and sloppy, difficult to pick up at best!, very light brown/green coloured, a lot of the time I would have to do my best to get it up from the grass in our garden, then hose the area down to wash it away!!

I started to look around these review sites and reading into foods and noticed very quickly how your dogs diet can be… Read Full Review

Blondie2009's Response to Steviejay01's Review

I found this review helpful because..
<br/>i have had my dog now for 6 weeks and its like deja vu reading your article. She was eating purina beta as it is reasonably priced and 'seemed' to have the right ingredients. Since she has been eating this her stools have been mostly loose, sometimes runny and only occasionally firm. I thought i was being sensible allowing time for her to settle and all the usual puppy uncertainties but enough is enough when it comes to her health. I have been researching various foods now for about a week and am becomming more angry with the rubbish that is passed as good food. I have now ordered some Burns. Will let you know if I have the same success as you - i hope so. Thanks

I have been feeding my puppy the Bakers Complete which he did like. The vet now suspects he may have a food allergy so the E numbers you say are in that will definately aggravate his condition. Several people have mentioned Burns food but a while ago I heard bad reviews on how it upset the dogs where they were eating their own faecis and basically chewing their own skin because the food was not filling them enough. I am trying to find a suitable hypoallergenic food (my dog is 11 months old)and would be grateful of any comments on the bad reviews mentioned.

Written on: 17/03/2009 by Arthurs Angels (2 reviews written)

After much research we have changed our dog from Iams to Burns. He has been munching on this for a day or so now so it's still very early days, but we feel the difference is already noticible. He is fuller for much longer, his digestion seems better and he seems calmer, which for a springer spaniel not yet able to go for walkies (1 week and counting!!) is essential. And the price is value to :o)

I did some extensive research on dog food a couple of years ago and found that Burns Dog Food rated very highly. There is a scale to score dog food on that takes a lot into consideration and was surprised how some of the more popular ones scored very poorly,I took note the first reviewer noticed how little you need to feed your dog compared to other foods which makes it better value. In fact I feed my dog only 100g (a mug full)of food a day, cheaper foods recommended double that amount for his… Read Full Review

“Burns Dog food - I bought my Bullmastiff puppy home at...”

Written on: 18/09/2008

Burns Dog food - I bought my Bullmastiff puppy home at 10 weeks. Up until she was 15 months old we probably could have bought another pedigree dog just with the money we were spending on vets bills! She had constant ear infections and would lose patches of hair all over her body. The vet thought this was wet eczema and she had to be bathed every couple of days. Well, within a month of changing her to Burn's, her coat and ears returned to normal. (sorry, I cant remember who recommended it) Our… Read Full Review

I haven't actually got a dog yet (lol) but our miniature schnauzer puppy is arriving in july (I'm so excited!) and we plan to feed her on Burns as an adult. We don't know much about the puppy food though but we can't seem to find any reccomended puppy food!

I overall think this is a great food with great ingredients (maybe apart from the very high grain content and low meat content)… Read Full Review

I found this review not helpful because...reviews should be based on personal experience of using a product. This reviewer admits that they haven't used the dog food as they don't yet have a dog!

“From the day we brought our Golden Retriever puppy...”

Written on: 13/06/2008 by Sandie55 (1 review written)

From the day we brought our Golden Retriever puppy home until he was 5 months old, he had constant diarrhea. Our vet recommended that we changed his food from the one the breeder had reared him on, to James Wellbeloved. That didn't change a thing. He was then put on pro-biotics, which didn't help, and then a course of anti-biotics, which didn't work either.

After alot of research, and recommendations from some other dog owners that fed their dogs Burns, and after, more importantly, reading… Read Full Review

Written on: 21/05/2008 by venettanicolov (1 review written)

Both our Welsh Terriers were 'fussy eaters' sometimes even refusing to eat! We tried all sorts, Nutro, James wellbeloved, iams, winalot, ceaser but nothing worked. They lost interest in going for walks, often had upset tummies, developed skin conditions: 1 even started going bald and was so itchy you couldn't even stroke her along her back. It was dreadful when both developed nail bed infections and it was suggested that this was due to chronic skin conditions! After some thorough research… Read Full Review

I found this review very helpful because..I have a 19 y/o and a 11 y/o dachshund also a 9 y/o rescue greyhound. I have been lucky enough to win a bag of Burns in The Hound Lounge raffle so will try it for all three dogs and hopefully continue. My local pet shop will order what I want so it will be easily available. The reviews are so good I can't wait to try it.
