Written on: 17/06/2014

Hi there,

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused due to invalid tickets you have received for Barry Manilow.

We can assure you that we have strict terms and conditions in place to ensure genuine tickets for our buyers and it is a rare occurrence that buyers are denied entry and we appreciate the disappointment that this situation has caused to you.

We only issue the payment to the seller after the event took place and once we know you successfully gained entrance. In case anything goes wrong we will issue you the full purchase price including the commission and postage you have paid, which means seatwave itself will not keep a single penny of the purchase price. This is our promise (Ticket Integrity) to our buyers.

We acknowledge that a full refund was already issued however, we do appreciate that money is not always the most important issue and we would like to offer you a gift certificate that can be used towards a future experience as we would like you to see a truer reflection of the way we work.

We do hope this goes some way in showing you that we do care very much about how you view our company and your customer experience.

Please get in touch with us through our website so we can make this up to you.

Ticket prices are set by the sellers and may be higher than face value

Face value printed on ticket excluding fees: £55.00

I copied the above paragraph directly from the Seatwave website. The face value is shown on every single booking BEFORE you enter your credit card details. I don't think they can be more transparent than that.

Hi there,

thank you for your feedback.

The reason the price stated on the ticket is different to what you have paid is because seatwave is an online marketplace, where people can buy and sell tickets. Prices are set by sellers when they list their tickets on seatwave.

We believe that fans should have the right to do what they want with tickets they have bought, including selling them at the going market rate if they choose to. Sellers can list tickets to any event of their choosing and can select their own selling price. We provide tools that show the market value of their tickets on our exchange over time.

Buyers on our platform have access to the same marketplace information, allowing them to make calculated decisions on seat location and the best time to buy tickets. We have several features on our buying page that help you to narrow your search to your specific requirements. One of those features is a sliding scale price bar where you can select a maximum price and only the tickets within your selected price range will appear so you can choose exactly how much you would like to spend.

We can assure you that the face value is shown for every transaction on the buying page before you go to the next step and enter your payment details and we’re sorry if you feel this was not clear, as we go to great lengths to develop our website and make it as user friendly and transparent as possible.

We do however appreciate your time and feedback.

Hi there,

Excellent customer service is very important to us and we always try to inform our customers of any possible changes or problems that occur as soon as we are aware.

Seatwave is a marketplace where people can buy and sell tickets. This means that we at Seatwave do not sell the tickets ourselves and all the tickets listed come from fans and distributors around the world.

We can assure you that we have strict terms and conditions in place as well as penalty charges to ensure sellers are aware of the financial consequences when supplying anything different from what was purchased or worst, not fulfilling the sale, as this is damaging our brand.

We would like to assure you that it is a rare occurrence that sellers are not able to fulfil the sale as advertised and we appreciate the disappointment that this situation has caused to you.

We believe in offering a great service and it's very clear that you feel we've let you down in this case however, we would like to assure you that we as a marketplace have done everything we can to try and rectify the situation, that was caused by the original seller letting us both down.

We are very sorry that we have been unable to find replacement tickets in this instance for you and we appreciate that this experience was far from easy, so please do get in touch with us through our website so we can make this right and offer you a little something towards a future purchase.

“Ripp off”

Actually the law needs to be changed so that promoters must offer a refund for unwanted tickets. You know, it is JUST possible that some of the tickets bought on secondary sites were placed there by genuine fans who could no longer attend the event. At the moment, all they can do is resell the tickets on a secondary site or bin them.
As for a law being passed that stops people buying anything and then selling it for as much profit as they can get - that's never going to happen!

Maybe so, bit it is clear that with so many tickets bought writhing 4 hours of the event going on general sale and the volume of tickets placed on secondary markets the amount of genuine fans must have been a very small minority given they were placed I'm sale writhin 5 hours , I can see a genuine need for a secondary market but it is very much being a abused to such a degree that something is so very wrong. Yes it is free market and we all have a choice but I think your comments are well wide of the mark

Yes, ofcourse it's a shame but spare tickets come from many different sources. They could come from complimentaries dished out to people who are not interested in the artist, or they could be from fans who can no longer attend, or they could be from ticket touts. They could even be from promoters themselves. But face value and market value are two very different things.

“They're still touts!”

Used these for the first time despite always saying I wouldn't. Got a ticket for face value - before the expensive fees were added. Ticket was ok and got me into the gig. But I was still annoyed with myself for using them. I have no idea how Seatwave persuaded you to buy tickets for a concert that you didn't want to go to. In any case, you got the ticket for face value plus fees. Even the primary sites like Ticketmaster and the venues themselves charge enormous fees for doing very little.
If you didn't want to go don't you feel bad about taking up a seat that a genuine fan could have sat in?

Very clever! Most tickets on Seatwave are way above face value and that's how you make money. My point was many people who have no intention of going to concerts buy tickets to sell on sites like Seatwave simply to make money and you make money from that. Do you think this is morally acceptable? You obviously do as you work for the company. Most genuine fans unable to go would sell at face value - which I accept happened in this case. However I still paid over the odds because of your fees - which were far more than Ticketmaster etc.

No, I don't work for the company and I misunderstood your first comment. I think people sell tickets for many reasons; if they are unable to attend themselves it's their only way of recouping their money because the primary sites do not accept returns, or perhaps the only way they can afford to attend a concert is to buy more tickets than they need and sell the extras at a profit, or, they are just buying to sell and make a profit. I don't accept that "genuine fans" would balk at making a profit. Being a "genuine fan" doesn't make you a saint. Hitler was a genuine fan of Wagner.

“Unreliable. lost money and chances”

I strongly suggest not to use seatwave and such kinds of services, for very obvious reasons. Off course, for the first sight it looks pretty easy to order the ticket and go to the event. I have made two orders, both to the soccer matches, but I have not visited them, spending 93 and 206 euros respectively for the event tickets, and approx 300 euros for the airway and train tickets to Milan and Barcelona, without counting other spendings. Seatwave is one of the most transparent secondary ticket selling sites around. Face value is clearly shown, as is the final amount you are going to pay. The only addition at check-out is the postage which can obviously only be added once they know where the tickets are going to be sent to. They have an 85.2% positive rating on this site alone - not bad when you consider that most people who are satisfied with a service don't bother to post a review. Compare that to the 16% positive rating that Ticketmaster has!!

I bought the tickets from Seat wave as an organisation not a 3rd party and I can assure you at no point did the face value of the ticket appear - just the cost per ticket you as an organisation were selling at. If the face value of £36 rather than the £79 I paid have been shown I would have looked else ware without a doubt.

And having read similar reviews since I realise I am not alone. On other organisations such as Ticket master who I would recommend and in hindsight should have used they very clearly state the face value price of the tickets.

If you are that concerned then refund me the difference in price to show good will........but the likes of greedy organisations such as yourself would never act out of concern for customers would you

Why are you giving Seatwave a bad review? It's the fault of UPS - obviously if they did not contact you, neither did they contact Seatwave.
By the way, the seller can only generate an airway bill which has the address already printed on it - the address supplied by you, so ultimately if this was wrong it's you that is at fault.

Hi there,

thank you for your time and feedback.

Our priority here at Seatwave is to ensure that we get you to the chosen event. So we are very careful in following up any unusual issues that may arise, this would be one of them.

Whilst we fully appreciate the disappointment you have experienced, given that the tickets are provided from a third party, we would require the written confirmation from the venue that they were unable to gain entrance as proof in order to be able to proceed actions against the seller.

As Seatwave is a marketplace, we don’t own the tickets, therefore the proof from the venue is needed as we need to pass this information on to the seller. We hope you can understand that this measurement is in place to protect sellers that use our site who supply genuine tickets.

We take our Job very seriously and we share the passion for live events with our customers, this is why we have strict terms and conditions in place for sellers and we will ban any seller who is supplying invalid tickets from our site.

We would like to urge you to get in touch with us through our website and provide us with the written proof from the venue so we can do the right thing and refund you the full purchase price and take the appropriate actions against the seller of your tickets as we feel you have been let down.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience and are sorry for the disappointment felt.

I thank Seatwave for their prompt response and arrangement of a refund.

However the turmoil of the evening, the spoiling a birthday, the hassle of getting the tickets from moorgate means I will never use or recommend Seatwave again.

Seatwaveteam's Response to Jmccall's Review

Dear Jane,

We would like to thank you for getting in touch.

Firstly, we would like to apologise for any frustration you've experienced with your ticket purchase on this occasion.

With regard to the Face value, the reason the price stated on the ticket is different to what you have paid is because seatwave is an online marketplace, where people can buy and sell tickets.

We do appreciate your feedback and use it to make seatwave a better marketplace.

“fantastic”

Written on: 05/04/2014 by lbroughton (1 review written)

I bought two tickets to go and see the backstreet boys at the o2 last nite, I knew I paid over the odds, but it was well worth it, had great seats that I could not get any where else. Was a bit skeptical at first as have never bought tickets this way before, but down loading the tickets and printing them off was easy. Would recently use seatwave again… Read Full Review

“Dreadful! Useless! DO NOT USE! ”

Written on: 02/04/2014

I bought my Justin Timberlake tickets ((1st April)last year unfortunatley due to the death of my father I couldnt attend the concert, I decided to sell my tickets through this rubbish organisation! This was the worst decision I ever made! I Went through the listing process clearly stating that my tickets were in Block 402 entered the row, seat numbers etc. I Didn't hear anything from them so I sold my tickets myself only to then get an email from them on the day of the concert informing me… Read Full Review

It's dead simple - check the email that Seatwave sent you with the sale confirmation. It will tell you which tickets were sold. You can also check your account on the Seatwave website which will show which tickets you listed.
Seatwave really is an honourable company, and if you have all the proof they will pay you for the sold tickets within 10 days of the concert.

Thanks for your advice.
I have all my proof, I also logged into my seatwave account this morning and my listing was there but when I checked this afternoon my listing had disappeared from the account. Luckily I have copies.
Just have to wait and see what they say, if they are as "honourable" as you say they are I shouldn't have a problem. But I'm not the first person this has happened to I definatly won't be the last.

Hi there,

thank you for your feedback.

One of our main priorities at Seatwave is to be completely transparent, this is why we have strict terms and conditions in place for both parties.

By listing a ticket with us, you are committing to supply that ticket; which means that you are making and communicating an offer to sell that ticket. When a Buyer agrees to buy the ticket, he or she is accepting your offer, and the transaction is binding on the parties and you are required to supply a ticket to the Buyer.

If, for any reason, you fail to fulfil on the contract you have entered into in respect of the sale of your ticket to the Buyer, you agree that we can deduct payment from your credit/debit card or account balance with us, for expenses or charges that we incur in finding a replacement ticket or providing a refund.

You further agree that we can set off any amount you owe us against any monies owing to you that we hold at any time. Please see clause 9 in our UserAgreement (Financial Consequences) for further information.

Once you have created the listing, your tickets will remain visible on our site for sale and if you chose to use your tickets yourself after all and these haven't sold by then, you would need to delete the listing first to avoid double selling.

We do appreciate that this might not be the news you wanted to hear and we are sorry that we cannot inform you otherwise.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us and making us aware of the situation. We do appreciate your feedback.

You sold your tickets elsewhere but didn't think to remove your listing from Seatwave. Seems you didn't have a thought for any poor potential buyer who had no idea that the tickets they were paying for were no longer available. Seatwave useless? They can only work with the information you give them. The company is one of the big success stories of the 21st Century, but even they are not clairvoyant.

If you read it properly then you would have realised that I corrected my error and re-bought my tickets so I could provide them to the person who bought them online. So how is that useless!!
I gave them the correct information once again read what I wrote instead of coming to your own conclusions!
I'm only sharing my bad experience.

I think I did read your comments correctly - this is the first time you have mentioned re-buying your tickets.
Please read MY comments - I didn't say anywhere that you were useless, only that Seatwave are NOT useless.
They sell thousands of tickets every day and most of their mishaps are because of sellers' mistakes. The amount of complaints compared to the amount of sales is minute.
As the other poster mentioned, if they have made an error and you have all your proof there will be no problems in obtaining a refund. They are not a fly-by-night company.
The only thing I don't understand is how they could have sold your tickets on the day of the concert unless you had posted them to Seatwave for a Last Minute Sale. Do you think there may be something wrong with your email account and you are not receiving emails on the day they are sent?

“bad experience with Seatwave”

Written on: 01/04/2014 by niGordon73 (1 review written)

Rated low because: . We were not kept informed on the status of the tickets (Hong Kong 7's rugby tickets), we tried contacting Seatwave many times before getting an answer. . The tickets were not delivered as promised and we had too pick them up from the Regal hotel. . Until the very last minute we didn't know if there would be any tickets at all. All in all, a pretty bad experience with Seatwave… Read Full Review

We genuinely cared about getting you to the chosen event and our priority was to ensure that you don’t miss out which is why we worked incredibly hard trying to find replacement tickets for you that would reach you safely in time before the rugby match, due to the proximity of the event this resulted in a collection on the day of the event from our collection point.

We are very proud of our company and the way we work, we offer a safe and transparent marketplace and we genuinely care about our customers and their experience. However, we do understand that this experience was far from easy, so please do get in touch with us through our website so we can make this right and offer you a little something towards a future purchase.

“JUST IN TIME!”

Bought a very HARD-TO-FIND ticket to Real Madrid X Barcelona (Football) held at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain on March 2014. I purchased the ticket online 2 days before the event and received my ticket through email within 4 hours. I also wrote an email with some questions to their Customer Service (using the website) and they replied within 1 day. I confess that I thought the ticket wouldn't work but for my happy surprise, the barcode was read just fine at the stadium gate by a… Read Full Review

“4 days of headaches”

Written on: 27/03/2014

I tried for 4 days to order through Seatwave. I had an original order but was sent an email to call them by 5pm that day or my order may be cancelled. No number was given. Many emails back and forth but my contact would send back spam reply's that were no help at all. I tried ordering new tickets but the system would not let me so I eventually gave up. Not impressed with their service. It left me feeling very frustrated… Read Full Review
